What's Next?

What's Next?
Hosted by IcyBooks

Picking out what to read has always been a struggle for me. I've got lots of review books and even more non-review books.

My Choice's for what's next:

This next pick is all about Dragons. I've got a craving and picked a few I have that would be perfect to read next. Only narrowing it down to one was kind of hard.

Slayers by C.J. Hill (Goodreads)

Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they
will fall in love. But will they survive?

Dragonsdawn by Anne McCaffrey (Goodreads)

Synopsis
The beautiful planet Pern seemed a paradise to its new colonists - until unimaginable terror turned it into hell. Suddenly deadly spores were falling like silver threads from the sky, devouring everything - and everyone - in their path. It began to look as if the colony, cut off from Earth and lacking the resources to combat the menace, was doomed.
Then some of the colonists noticed that the small, dragonlike lizards that inhabited their new world were joining the fight against Thread, breathing fire on it and teleporting to safety. If only, they thought, the dragonets were big enough for a human to ride and intelligent enough to work as a team with a rider...
And so they set their most talented geneticist to work to create the creatures Pern so desperately needed - Dragons!

Stormwalker by Allyson James (Goodreads)

Synopsis

Book One of a the Stormwalker series. Allyson James also writes as NYT Bestselling author Jennifer Ashley

Half-Navajo Janet Begay possesses extraordinary power which is tied to the storms that waft across the desert. The only person who can control her when she's caught in the storm's evocative power is Mick, a dark-haired, blue-eyed biker Janet can't seem to touch with her powers. He can wield fire and not get burned, and Janet's never sure where he goes when they're not together.

Together they investigate mysterious disappearances, which Janet fears are tied to her mother's people, the mythical gods from below the earth. They are helped along the way by Coyote and Crow, but these shapeshifting gods have their own agendas.

I've had all three of these on my bookshelf forever. I planned to read all the Pern books this year but so far I haven't started them yet.

  1. I have the Stormwalker books on my shelf as well. I can't wait to read them! It's never easy to make a choice when there are so many books waiting for you, but that's a fun problem to have.
