Currently.......

I started this post with the plan to do it as a random post. Some months you might see it weekly others maybe once is all. The plan was to share what I've been up to recently. I'm hoping to start doing this more and more over the next few months

I've been having reading and blogging burnout this year. I actually haven't read a single book and we are almost 5 months into 2019. I've started a bunch but they aren't capturing my attention as I had hoped. I've also felt like with my lack of reading that blogging has been a chore. So I'm going to work on turning blogging and reading into something I enjoy again. I feel like this is just the post to do it so for a while you might be seeing it a lot.

Blogging -
I've been having a little blog burn out recently, and I think a big part of it is that I haven't been reading as much as normal. I just haven't found anything to capture my attention and part of it is that I've been in a bit of a funk. I'm thinking of sharing more than just bookish posts. While I love books I think it would be fun to discuss some of my other loves. However, my main focus will still be my love of books.

Music -
I've had this song stuck in my head for the last few days. I tend to listen to music most of the time as without it the house is to quiet. I tend to overthink when I have quiet. I'm kind of addicted to all of Fame on Fire's music. I love the covers as much as the originals but this one has been stuck in my head for days.

Reading -

I'm currently reading Faking it with the Billionaire by Chelsea Greene. I've always been a fan of Billionaire romance. One of my goals for 2019 was to read more billionaire romance and try new authors. This is my first book by the author and I'm enjoying it so far.

I'm not currently reading a manga which is shocking but I need to pick a new one and start working my way through a new series. I'm browsing them right after I finish blogging this am.

I'm thinking of starting Monstress by Majorie M. Liu. I've got the first one on my tablet but I haven't started it yet. I like the concept it sounds interesting.

Synopsis

Set in an alternate matriarchal 1900's Asia, in a richly imagined world of art deco-inflected steam punk, MONSTRESS tells the story of a teenage girl who is struggling to survive the trauma of war, and who shares a mysterious psychic link with a monster of tremendous power, a connection that will transform them both and make them the target of both human and otherworldly powers. Collects MONSTRESS #1-6

Journaling -

The last few years I've been really into bullet journaling but recently it's become more of a chore. Finding free time to get it set up so that I can use it to the full potential has been harder recently. I've done it a few times but not used it as much as I would have liked. I've got a few new journals that I plan to start using more of. I'm starting a list journal which is all lists. Books I want to read, books on my wishlist, watchlist, random thoughts list, and the list goes on. I hope to share some of them next time.

Crafting -
Nope, not been doing much crafting recently either. I've been in a blah funk recently. I do plan to change that I have a list of crafty project's that I want to do over the next few weeks.

Watching -
I just finished watching the whole series of Black Sails with my bestie. I like him pick our show to binge watch and it's what he picked. Not a huge fan of pirate shows, to be honest, and Starz tends to be a little darker but overall it was good. I enjoyed watching it.

I just started watching Attack on Titan from the beginning again this am. I didn't sleep well and felt like a little dark anime was just what I needed this am. I've read almost all of the mangas so I should be current through at least the three seasons which are on Hulu. My best is the one who introduced this to me when we had to read the subtitles before it was dubbed. So it's been a long time since I've watched it.

Foodie -
I've got sourdough starter on the counter and a loaf of sourdough to bake over the next day or two. I'm just putting it off as the weather has been really warm the last few days. I kind of don't want to heat up the house if we are going to be headed for triple digits. I'm going to start picking out new recipes I want to try and sharing them here. I've got a whole bunch of boards on Pinterest full of recipes I've wanted to try but never got around to them yet.
This is the next one I want to try.

Thai Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce

What have you been up to?

Binge Watchers

Do you spend hours in front of the TV, maybe days? Did you ever want to chat with other Binge Watchers or ask people for suggestions or maybe just review the season you watched. Books, Movies, Reviews, Oh My! and Because Reading had the perfect idea, why not get all of us binge watchers together!!!

Decided this am to start Attack on Titan from the beginning. I've read all the mangas but the last few to be released. So I need to catch up which one take long. Didn't sleep well last night and figured this would be the perfect way to spend the am. My best friend introduced me to this on Netflix when it first came out and we had to read the subtitles. So this is my first time watching it dubbed as I've been just reading the manga.

I'm always open to new suggestions

A fresh and addictive fantasy-romance set in modern-day Seoul.

Eighteen-year-old Gu Miyoung has a secret--she's a gumiho, a nine-tailed fox who must devour the energy of men in order to survive. Because so few believe in the old tales anymore, and with so many evil men no one will miss, the modern city of Seoul is the perfect place to hide and hunt.

But after feeding one full moon, Miyoung crosses paths with Jihoon, a human boy, being attacked by a goblin deep in the forest. Against her better judgment, she violates the rules of survival to rescue the boy, losing her fox bead--her gumiho soul--in the process.

Jihoon knows Miyoung is more than just a beautiful girl--he saw her nine tails the night she saved his life. His grandmother used to tell him stories of the gumiho, of their power and the danger they pose to humans. He's drawn to her anyway.

With murderous forces lurking in the background, Miyoung and Jihoon develop a tenuous friendship that blossoms into something more. But when a young shaman tries to reunite Miyoung with her bead, the consequences are disastrous . . . forcing Miyoung to choose between her immortal life and Jihoon's.

What do you think of the cover?

Jagger Jones is a whiz kid from Chicago's South Side. Ask him anything about Ancient Egypt, and Jagger can fill hours describing all that he knows. But when he and his precocious little sister Aria fall more than three thousand years back in time to the court of Amarna, Egypt, Jagger discovers a truth that rocks his world: books don’t teach you everything there is to know.

Mummies, pyramids, and cool hieroglyphics make awesome movie props, but the ancient court of Amarna is full of over-sized scorpions, magical amulets, and evil deities determined to scare unwanted visitors away. If Jagger and Aria are to return safely home, they must find nine soul-infested gemstones, defeat an evil general, save the royal family, and figure out how to rescue themselves!

Armed only with Jagger’s knowledge of history and a few modern objects mined from his pockets and Aria’s sparkly purse, the siblings have exactly one week to solve supernatural riddles and rescue the royal family. If they can pull it off, Jagger Jones just might return to Chicago a hero.

Cover Love

I thought this would be a fun random post to share when I happen across a cover that captures my attention, as well as some of my favorite covers.
I love book covers and thought this would be a perfect way to share my love of them with others.
This is a random post so it could be multiple times a week or weeks in between it will be based on the book covers I encounter.

I'm in love with the colors on the cover of Cursed Tides. It's just a beautiful cover which is why I added it to my wishlist. I did read the synopsis after it captured my eye and it sounds equally amazing.

Synopsis
She no longer wants to be a part of his world. But he must convince her to save it...

Ashe is one mission away from earning her soul. Nearly three centuries after her disastrous on-land escapade, the former mermaid has a final assignment: protect a marine biologist on his quest to save the oceans. Perhaps it's pure coincidence that Varun Zale is the descendant of the prince she once chose not to kill.

Varun can't explain how storms obey Ashe or why her eye color changes to match the tossing waves, but he suspects she is more than the mute ship captain she pretends to be. His growing fascination leads him from the shallows of a fairy tale to the depths of a mystery older than recorded time. In the midnight reaches of the ocean, monstrous titans stir. An unstoppable disease becomes a weapon in the hands of the mer-king.

Nothing Varun has ever imagined or believed about mermaids is true. And being wrong could cost him everything...

The Red Head

Growing up in foster care, I never had a family I could call my own. I’d finally found my place in this world. The only problem, it was in the arms of not one, but two men. Two distinctly different men I’d never be able to choose between.

The Doctor
Finally, I’d found the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We were deeply in love. There was only one catch. She loved another, too. A surprising compromise was thrown my way. We’d share her, in a committed relationship. But, sharing wasn’t my style. Until, that was, I started to long for him just as much as I did her.

The Fireman
My redhead seductress had laid claim to my heart, along with the good doctor. He denied loving me but I would catch him watching me, with the same hunger in his eyes as he had for the woman we loved. They are both mine, he just didn’t know it yet.

“Hell, Scar,” I began, “those tacos are almost as delicious as you.” That earned me a laugh by both Jordan and my redhead seductress.

“I know, I’m awesome like that.” She smirked. “You should see what else I can do with my hands.”

“Is that supposed to be a challenge?” Jordan asked.

“I meant in the kitchen, boys. Get your head out of the gutter.” Scar stood, grabbing the plates to clear the items from the table.

As she attempted to snatch my food from in front of me, I spun her around and pulled her onto my lap. “Nope, you aren’t clearing the dishes, Scar. You cooked. Anyway, I think there’s something more important we might need to take care of. You with me, Doc?”

He looked around at the dishes on the table. I should have known the type A personality of our doctor wouldn’t let him concentrate with a mess. “Doc, work with me here.”

He stood, moving to where Scar was sitting on my lap, her skirt offering easy access. “Um, yeah, I can let a dirty kitchen slide this time because I have many dirty thoughts of you on my mind, Red.”

I loved his analogy. It was something a control freak would say to make him feel better about leaving a mess. And it was cute. Fuck, I wanted to dirty him as much as he wanted to dirty Scar. “Good one, Doc. Let’s get our girl upstairs.”

“Nope, I have plans for her right here.”
