30 day Blogging Challenge

Happy August!!!!!
How about a blogging challenge. I know I'm an addict for a good challenge. I found this challenge on Pintrest from 2014 but figured it would work for 2015. The creator is Hello Neverland she has a writing prompt for each month. I've kind of been in a little slump with the hubs gone. So I thought August would be the perfect time to jump start for the rest of the year. Now I admit not all of them are going to work for me like the first is about school but I figured those can be tweaked to work for just me. I'm super excited to give this blogging Prompt a go as a 30 day challenge. My goal is to do a little writing and take a creative picture that I also will share on Instagram.

Book Review: An Alpha's Kiss

Title - An Alpha's Kiss
Author - Evelyn Glass
Series - Untamed #1
Published November 6th 2013
Publisher E-Book Publishing World
Format - Kindle freebie

Synopsis
When Charmaine Vella rescues her friend Scottie from bullies of the Kreuger pack at a party hosted by the rival pack, she had expected nothing else to come of it. She certainly didn't expect Parker, the son of the Kreuger Alpha to come looking for her. She certainly didn't expect him to be handsome. And she most certainly didn't expect her own desire to burn so fiercely when Parker came closer.

But there was a problem: the Vella and Kreuger packs hate each other and have hated each other for centuries.

An unexpected kiss will propel Charmaine and Parker down a grim-fated path. Can they keep their love a secret from their respective families and can they bear the consequences if it's discovered?

Review
Charmaine is only twenty she’s not ready to be mated for the rest of her life and granted she hasn’t done a lot of dating. When her best friend Scottie is attacked at a party hosted by a rival pack she at last has an encounter with the stranger she’s been dreaming about. The stranger who makes her toes curl, but he’s from the rival pack so neither family will go for it. Instead of following the rules she takes the risk falling for Parker hard sealing their fate. What will happen when the secret gets out that they two have found their mates with the rival pack?

I like Charmaine she’s ambitious she never planned to find her mate least of all in the rival pack. I think Parker is a good match for Charmaine they complement each other besides the fact that they have this amazing chemistry. I’m not a huge fan of the insta love concept but the way it works since they are shifters it just sort of works well.

I picked up An Alpha’s Kiss as a kindle freebie a while back and I today looked like a perfect day to check it out.  A short fast paced shifter erotic romance that was perfect for a lazy morning. I finished An Alpha’s Kiss in just one sitting it was hard to put down and I wanted to see how it would play out. I’m not a huge erotica fan but as long as we have a story to go with it I’ll give it a chance. The story reminds me a little of Romeo and Juliet it was good and I enjoyed it. My only complaint is it felt a little rush but that’s because it’s a short story.  All and all it’s very steamy but I enjoyed it. I’ll be checking out the author in the future.

I was hooked on Wolverine as a kid. Who doesn't love a sarcastic hero with a murky origin tale, claws and all the best one-liners?

Favorite TV show?
Current: Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. All-Time: Seinfeld. Guilty Pleasure: Food Network Star

Sweet or Salty?
I will eat something sweet like a peanut butter cup and follow it up with a salty snack. It's a yin/yang thing I started doing as a teenager.

Coke and it's not even close.

Any Phobias?
Three words: Big hairy spiders.

Song you can’t get enough of right now?
I just discovered an artist named Jacob Collier who does these incredible, mostly a cappella arrangements of songs and I'm hooked on his take on the jazz standard "Fascinating Rhythm." Amazing! [link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K28H04Y2IdE]

I just started "The Maze Runner" and plan on reading Andy Weir's "The Martian" next.

Synopsis

Readers around the world are eagerly awaiting the third book in The School for Good and Evil series, The Last Ever After. This extraordinary conclusion delivers more action, adventure, laughter, romance and fairy tale twists and turns than you could ever dream of!

Review
The Last Ever After is the final book in the School for Good and Evil it takes place just after the end of the second book with Agatha choosing this time Tedros over Sophie for her happy ever after. Leaving Sophie with the young school master who wants to be her happy ever after even if they are evil. However things aren’t as easy for Agatha and Tedros back in her village with him just a normal boy and they are forced to hide of with the village determined to have their heads. Deciding that neither one will be happy without Sophie since she’s their best friend they must return to the school to get her.

It’s only after returning to the school that they learn the fate of Sophie and what it means for their friends as well as the schools. Now that Evil has truly won they schools are both evil even the former Ever’s are evil doing the bidding of the School Master who is determined to win Sophie’s heart so he can use her for his sinister plans. That’s not all that’s changed he’s raised the villains once dead to change their stories slaying the elderly heroes and hunting Agatha and Tedros. Will they be able to save and fix everything before it’s too late or will this be the end of everything that they have known.

I adore Agatha she’s clearly one of my favorites in the series  but that’s because she’s such a good person willing to step aside for her best friend. I admit in the book I did have a few moments of wanting to toss it across the room thanks to Sophie and Tedros but they redeemed themselves in the end. I love our little witch coven who worked hard to save the school as well as their friends. I also really enjoyed the old fairy tales it was so much fun seeing old tinker bell and Peter even the white rabbit.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for this moment the conclusion to one of my favorite series came out. Than the moment it did I just wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my favorite world. It was clear right from the start that The Last Ever After was going to be impossible to put down, and I almost finished the whole book in one day. A truly amazing end to a series that has kept me spellbound right from the beginning. The story is captivating with enchanting characters evil sorcery’s princes and even a few witches. I love the characters I was able to connect with them right from the start after all I have been attached to them since the first book. The Last Ever After is an emotional whirlwind just when you think you have it figured out it surprises you full of twists and turns. I honestly love this series and I know for a fact it will be a re-read in the future because I’m going to miss Agatha and Sophie. I feel the author did an amazing job creating a beautifully written series that captured my heart as well as my imagination. If you are a fan of fairytales this is a must for you.  I just wow loved the whole series of The School of Good and Evil but this was the best.

Book Blitz: Good Intentions

Title - Good Intentions
Author - Pembroke Sinclair
Series - The Road to Salvation #3
Genre - Paranormal Romance, Young Adult
Publication date - July 28th 2015
Published by - Booktrope Publishing

Synopsis
Katie has been through Hell—literally—and discovered that it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. In fact, she kind of enjoyed it. She got to be with Josh, found out about her past, and discovered who she wanted to be as a person. Katie didn’t care that her actions went against social norms. She was happy.
But things are changing—again. Wes has come back into her life, and that can only mean trouble. His presence threatens to unravel her new-found happiness. She can’t allow that. She won’t let him back in. Yet, Katie can’t push him away.
Thrown back into a state of confusion and uncertainty, Katie is once again forced to pick sides, and in the process, she may lose herself.

Excerpt

The halls were quickly clearing of students, but Katie wasn’t worried. There were still enough people around to keep her safe from demon spies and Wes. Well, Wes was for sure. In reality, the shadow could be anywhere. Same with other demons, especially if they looked human. But Katie felt secure in knowing that they probably wouldn’t venture out in their true form as long as students were around. Not that demons bothered her. It was just because of who the demon was tied to. And as long as she didn’t venture into a bathroom alone—which she didn’t plan to do—she was fine. Wes would leave her alone. Besides, in just a few minutes she’d be outside and in Josh’s car. Then, they could figure out what they were going to do about the situation.

As she stepped out of the building, a cool breeze blew by her, causing her to shudder. Fall was definitely in the air. She wrapped her arms around her chest and scanned the parking lot. It didn’t take long to find him. He was parked in the third row from the building, and his was one of the last vehicles in the lot. The rest were lined up haphazardly at the exits attempting to get out. Most of the other students, unless they were involved with sports, didn’t stay at school for longer than was necessary. Katie couldn’t blame them. It wasn’t her favorite place either.

He stood next to the passenger door with his arms folded across his chest. He smiled as his gaze fell on her, and even from a distance she could tell it was forced. Crap. That probably meant things didn’t go well. Taking a deep breath, she closed the distance between them with determined steps.

He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and pulled her into a tight hug. She wrapped her arms around his waist and rested her cheek on his chest. His heart beat steadily in his ribs. His embrace was warm and pushed away the chill from the air. All her fears and worries disappeared. She was safe. It

would have been so perfect if that was how the rest of her life could go. If she could just stay in his arms, life would be grand. But it couldn’t. That wasn’t the way things worked. Sooner or later, the world would come crashing in on them. Despite the desire to pretend like events hadn’t happened earlier in the day, she knew she couldn’t delay the inevitable. Still snuggled close to him, she asked the question she didn’t really want the answer to.

Arabella Holmes was born different and raised different. After it became apparent she wouldn’t fit the role of a proper 1900′s lady, her father, Sherlock, called in some lingering favors, and landed her a position at the Mutter Museum. The museum was Arabella’s dream; she was to become a purveyor of abnormal science. What her father called a BoneSeeker.
Henry Watson arrives at the Mutter Museum with a double assignment–to become a finder of abnormal antiquities and to watch over and keep Arabella Holmes. An easy task, if he could only get her to speak to him instead of throwing knives in his general direction.
But this is no time for child’s play. The two teens are assigned to a most secret exploration, when the hand of a Nephilim is unearthed in upstate New York. Soon, Arabella and Henry are caught in a fight for their lives as scientific debate swirls around them. Are the bones from a Neanderthal … or are they living proof of fallen angels, who supposedly mated with humans according to ancient scrolls?
Sent to recover the skeleton, they discover they are the second team to have been deployed and the entire first team is dead. And now they must trust their instincts and rely on one another in order to survive and uncover the truth.

2. They followed the rabbit through inky trees as blackness swept over the Woods like a plague, the sun offering no resistance against the night. Soon they could barely see at all, and if it wasn’t for the rabbit’s corpulent pace, they’d have lost him in the dark. Ominous howls and low screams crackled ahead of them and Agatha tried to ignore the skitters and slithers in the underbrush lining the path. Yellow and red eyes peeped overhead like malevolent stars, warning her that danger was coming and coming fast. If only we knew where League Headquarters was, Agatha thought miserably. Her mother had sacrificed her life to make sure they reached the League . . . and I didn’t bother to ask Uma where it was? Why didn’t I have a backup plan in case something happened? Why can’t I think straight? Now instead of finding the one place where they’d be safe tonight, they were on some wild-goose chase, carrying a petrified teacher and chasing a time-obsessed bunny to who knows where. With Tedros lagging under Uma’s weight, Agatha kept pace with the rabbit for more than an hour, silently punishing herself for their predicament, until she finally glimpsed a wisp of white smoke emanating through pine trees ahead.
3. I'm just starting book three but I'm not sure if I would really want to be in the world that the girls live in. As much as I love fairy tales this one is very crazy.

How about you? How are you coming on your reading?
