Book Blogger Hop

Hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer (here)

I've been in a bit of a little reading slump the last few months but just finding my groove again. In the past I could easily read over 30 books in a month but recently I've been lucky if I'm even finishing just 1 book. Shocking I know because I'm shocked that this booknerd hasn't been reading much.

So I'm failing a little on the 2022 New Year new reading goal. Thankfully January is always just a trial run open to adjustment and the real start of the year is February. I always feel like things this year have started off crazy but hopefully by the end of the month some of them will smooth out.

My goal for 2022 is 200 books and currently I'm at 1 so far. I do have a book on my kindle that I started but don't love and it's kinda turning me off from reading. I need to start reading the pile of manga from the library before I need to return them.

How about you? What's your average number of books? Read anything you would recommend this year?

This week's Question:
What book series would you like to see adapted as a Netflix series.

Answer

This is an awesome question but how do I pick one or even just two. So I loved Bridgerton so very much I'm watching it for the third time. Netflix did such an amazing job I can only hope that that this time they will pick up one of my favorite series. From my list it's clear that I'm stuck on paranormal books at the moment but some of my favorite series are paranormals. I think all four would be amazing if done right.

First on my list Shifters by Rachel Vincent - I love Faythe this is still to this day one of my favorite series I think while Netflix would do it justice I don't know if the audience would be there for it to be a success and I would hate for them to do the first but not finish it.

Second on my list Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - while this one did have a movie which I've seen about a billion times it didn't grab the audience like it should have. However, I feel like if Netflix had a chance at it we might have the next Vampire Diaries. At least I could hope it would be a hit.

Next up is Moon Called by Patricia Briggs - I feel like this could be the new supernatural replacement. I think if done right this could be amazing as Mercy and her crew are are unique and people would love them.

Last but no way in the least is The Crescent Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy - I think this one also could be a good Vampire Diaries replacement the concept is unique with captivating characters and each new chronicle could be intertwined into the story introducing new characters.

This week's Question:
Do you share books? If so, do you have a system of keeping track of whom you lend books to?

Answer

Short answer no. Long answer is I used to share all the time but it is expensive replacing books that never seem to come back. I can't tell you how many copies of Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K Hamilton over the years. I'm too nice to push to get my books back so they always seem to walk away which is so sad. So I've decided I no longer loan them out anymore plus it allows me to buy more new books when I'm not always replacing the lost or kidnapped books.

This week's Question:
Do you own more than one e-readers?

Answer

Sort of yes. I have my old paper white that still works but I don't use it as I use my newer version paper white. I also have the kindle app on my tablet and phone but I don't use those as often. I really want a new kindle to come out this year so I can upgrade again. I'm hoping for a paper white with color that's the only thing I feel is missing I can't see the covers with colors. However, I have a few kindle fires floating around but I don't like those either. I also still have my kindle fire form years ago that maybe II should see if it still workings sitting on the shelf. I have a hard time getting rid of them if they work, and sometimes I need a backup if I forget to charge my current one.

This week's Question:
How many post do you schedule for your blog on a weekly basis?

Answer
None at the moment working on getting back into the routine. This is one of my goals for this year to get ahead. I used to write ahead and post them but I've been chasing with blogging it seems but that's something I hope to get out of this year. I'm ready to be ahead vs behind.

This week's Question:

What upcoming books are you intrigued to read in 2021?
Answer:

I've been in a bit of a reading funk due to real life. I think we have finally found a routine. I do have a big pile of books on my to read list this year.

I'm on a huge shifter kick so of course I have to start this list off with several.

This is just the short list. I know my TBR list is long with new releases.

This week's Question:

Do you visit indie and/or used bookstores? Also have you worked in any?

Answer:

We don't have very many used bookstores or indie bookstores in my area. I've found a couple in San Francisco but the 45min drive or longer due to traffic makes it very discouraging. I miss all the used bookstores and I hope to be able to visit them again. I would love too work in a used bookstore or indie bookstore maybe one day!

This week's Question:

Answer:

Yes, I do have a bunch, but I may have gone a little crazy with my goals.

1. Rediscover my love for blogging. I hit a huge slump last year and it ended up feeling more like a chore.

2. New content making it to my blog. I have notebooks full of fun stuff new content discussion posts I want to write but I never do. I want to start actually sharing it.

3. Write more reviews. This slump got into a reading slump so that wasn't helping me.

4. I want to write 5 discussion unique posts each month. I have maybe zillion ideas so this should be easy if only I can write the posts lol.

5. More foodie recipes. I love to bake and cook so I feel like this would be a great place to share them.

6. Blog daily. Every day even if it's a quick post with an Instagram picture. Which is another area I need to work on.

7. More unique original content. More challenges! More fun!

8. Read and review at least 250 books this year!

This week's Question:

Answer:
I'm not adventurous enough to brave the stores. I've seen too many encounters of people going crazy over great deals. I much rather shop online when it comes to sales. I've so far only purchased some tea online. I do have a huge tea addiction, and the buy 2 get the third free was too hard to pass up. I've replenished with holiday tea for the winter months.
I think this is the first year I haven't purchased any books which is rare for me. Thankfully I still have time in the day so maybe I'll be adding some to my shopping adventures for today.

This week's Question:

Do you listen to music while you are writing your blog posts? If so, what genre of music do you listen to?

Answer:

Yes, I tend to listen to punk covers or listen to the tv while I blog. I find it harder to focus when it's quiet. I think a lot of that is due to the fact that the house is always loud. Between dogs and kids, it's hard to find any quiet except in the am before anyone wakes up and it's just to quiet at that point. One of my favorites bands to listen to is Our Last Night. They have a collection of cover songs that they have done as well as original music.
They have so many great ones but this one is my favorite. I have them all on my playlist so when I'm in the mood for music I tend to listen to them first.

This week's Question:
What were your worst movies based off of books?

Answer:
This one is hard because while the movies tend to be different I find something to enjoy about them.
They don't follow the books in the movies. If you can ignore that fact and just take the movies as fiction they are great. I saw the first two in theaters with my husband we had both read the books. I admit he was super bummed but I enjoyed the movies.

Starcrossed
by Jody Morse & Jayme Morse

Synopsis
The fence around the compound isn't there just to keep people out. It's to keep people in.

My sister deserves to have the wedding of her dreams, not an arranged marriage to some random werewolf. But our Alpha father is trying to force her into marrying someone she doesn't love, someone she doesn't even know.

The worst part? She's agreeing to do it so I won't have to.

I have to figure a way to get her out of this. A way that won't end up getting myself killed in the end.

It isn't just werewolves I need to worry about...

Dodging danger isn't the easiest thing to do lately, after having a run-in with a new kind of evil - one that I never knew even existed until I met Jax.

And my friends?

It's hard to say which ones I can trust.

“What do you mean our dad is forcing you to get married?” My question came out louder than I’d meant for it to, my voice echoing all around us.

An hour later, we were sitting at the long dining room table with Jax’s entire family. I was seated between Jax and Mila, with Bash sitting across from me, Ace and Elias diagonal to me, and Hudson and Caleb were seated at each end of the table. I wasn’t used to eating with so many people. Usually, it was just Mom, Zoe, me, and sometimes Blair.

What teasers do you have this week?

This week's Question:
Do you read hardcovers with the dust jacket on or off? Why or why not?
Answer:

I love to read hardcover's but I always take the dust jacket off. I'm scared in my house something will happen to it. However, recently my husband took one off to read and it ended up smashed. Thankfully my husband doesn't read very much and when he does it's on his tablet.

This weeks Question:
If you could have lunch with any living authors and/or book bloggers, who would you choose
and why?
Answer:
It's really hard to pick one or two. I have so many I would love a chance at coffee to just have a nice relaxing chat. I would have to say Patricia Briggs but that's because I love Mercy Thompson and would love to pick her brain about what is in store for my favorite coyote shifter. I've always dropped any books I'm reading for the newest Mercy Thompson book.

It's been ages since I've done this one but while looking back at my old posts I thought this one would be fun. I'll be picking my open themes each week.

This week I am recommending - The Karma Inc series by Gillian Zane
So far the first 3 books are out and I'm anxiously waiting to get the next one in my hands. They are fast paced Paranormal Fantasy books. They are perfect for a quick reading session with a great character you can't help loving Cassie. I love the covers they are mesmerizing. Highly recommend checking the Karma, Inc series out.

This weeks Question:
What do you do with books you no longer want? Do you donate them? Do you take them to a half-price bookstore? Does a friend or family member benefit?

Answer:
I have a hoarding issue and tend to not get rid of books. However, if and when I do it's by donation and passing off to friends and family. I love the chance to share my love of books with my friends and family. I do admit that my hoarding is so bad I haven't gotten rid of many books over the years.

This week I am recommending - fun shifter series
1. Moon Called by Patricia Briggs - I love Mercy Thompson she's one of my favorite skin walkers tossed into a supernatural world mixed with werewolves, fae and vampires. She's one of those characters that I will drop other books to read the newest one.

2. Queen Heir by Jaymin Eve & Leia Stone - I was instantly hooked by the concept of the wolf shifters and their rivals and the return of the fae. I need to finish the rest of the series.

3. Winter Valley Wolves by V. Vaughn - I love the quick steamy romance stories.

4. The SnowFang Bride by Merry Ravenell - I read the first one and instantly fell in love with the everything about it. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one as soon as it comes out.

5. Shifting Dreams by Elizabeth Hunter - I've only read the first but I loved it. I have the other books in the series to read just need to find the time. I like the unique spin on the shifters of the town.

6. Breaking The Storm by Sedona Venez - an exciting new series I just found. Loved every moment of it.

How about you? Do you have a favorite shifter series?
