I blogged about ____ this past week…

This week's question:
Do you ever use reading to procrastinate?

My Answer:
I tend to rush to finish things so that I can spend lots of free time reading. I tend to find it harder to read when I have other things to do, and end up spending more time distracted than reading.

Up next I think I’ll read…
Death of a Trailer Queen by S.B. Biddinger

It was a warm summer Saturday when Wes and his buddy Oz, a smooth coat collie, got ready for a day at the park. They were looking forward to checking out the vintage made American classic cars at the show and visiting with their friends. Little did he know by the end of the day his world would be turned upside down. His friend would have been murdered. Wes was a private investigator for the state and various insurance companies uncovering workman’s comp fraud. Over the years he had used keen observation skills, a camera from afar and a lot of patience to catch those perpetrators. However, he had never investigated a murder but this was his friend and he knew he had to find the killer. The more he uncovered the more danger he was in knowing that anyone on his list could be or was the killer. A trail of twisted clues would lead him through a world of deceit, drugs and broken hearts but with Oz at his side and the help from his friends he was able to…..

Forbidden by Cathy Clamp
Find it on (Goodreads

USA Today bestselling author Cathy Clamp reboots the Sazi universe in Forbidden, a tightly-paced, high-tension urban fantasy thriller.

Ten years have passed since the war that destroyed the Sazi Council and inflicted a horrible "cure" on thousands of Sazi, robbing them of their ability to shapeshift.

Luna Lake, isolated in Washington State, started as a refugee camp for Sazi orphans. Now it's a small town and those refugees are young adults, chafing at the limits set by their still-fearful guardians.

There's reason to fear: Sazi children are being kidnapped. Claire, a red wolf shifter, is sent to investigate. Held prisoner by the Snakes during childhood, Claire is distrusted by those who call Luna Lake home.

Before the war, Alek was part of a wolf pack in Chicago. In Luna Lake he was adopted by a parliament of Owls, defying Sazi tradition. The kidnappings are a painful reminder that his little sister disappeared a decade ago.

When Claire and Alek meet, sparks fly—but the desperate race to find the missing children forces them to set aside their mutual attraction and focus on the future of their people.

My Answer:
(Artwork by Michael Whelan
Some of the book universes are places I would never want to end up. I do think it would be amazing to end up in Anne McCaffrey's dragonriders world. I admit that being on the planet of Pern does with its own dangers like falling thread. However, being a dragon rider would make it all worth it.

This week's question:
I’m currently reading…

My Answer:
Shockingly I'm reading multiple books at once. I really need to add a comic and audiobook to be taking advantage of all of my options. I don't normally read multiple books but the last few weeks I have.
Currently, I'm working on this trio but I need to add a comic to pile. A Court Of Thorns is a physical re-read working my way current in the series.
I've got Moon Kissed that I'm working on with my Kindle in bed.
Last Say I Love You when I have some downtime.

I don't see it as a current weekly on her blog but she does have a great list of manga's that she's read or reading. Be sure to check her out.

I hit a manga funk for a while and wasn't enjoy them as much as I had liked. I decided a few weeks ago to give Say I Love you a shot and have been addicted. It's hard to put down I'm curious to see how it's all going to finish out. I've read the first 7 so far. I'm hoping to finish the series this week. I saw it's also an anime I need to binge next.

Synopsis
Mei Tachibana has no friends—and she doesn’t need them! Ever since her “friends” betrayed her in elementary school, she’s sworn off friendship entirely. All it leads to is betrayal and heartbreak, and she’s well enough on her own. But everything changes when she accidentally roundhouse kicks the most popular boy in school! However, Yamato Kurosawa isn’t angry in the slightest— in fact, he thinks his ordinary life could use an unusual girl like Mei! He won’t take no for an answer, and soon Mei and Yamato embark on an unwanted friendship that will change both of them forever.

This week's question:
I’m currently reading…

My Answer:
I've been in a reading slump for a while.
I have always been a huge fan of billionaire romance which seemed to be just what I needed.
I'm over half way done with Royal Ruin by Jessica Peterson and can't put it down. It's exactly what I needed to pull me out of this funk.

Synopsis
SUBJECT: Engagement Contract (Marked Confidential)
From The Desk of His Royal Highness Prince Christopher

Emily—Thank you for joining me for dinner tonight. And for agreeing to my proposal, as ludicrous as it is. Desperate times call for fake engagements. At least in my family.

I am attaching the contract we discussed. Our lawyers asked that I highlight the following clauses:

• The engagement shall last ninety days
• Both parties are to appear genuinely in love at all royal appearances
• Beyond required public displays of affection, there shall be no contact of any kind between the parties

The first half of your payment will be deposited into your account upon the signing of this contract. Be sure to note your ring size. We would like to make prompt delivery of the family emerald. The Queen and I thank you in advance for your discretion.

Cheers,
Kit
P.S.—Sorry to hear about your divorce. Your ex sounds like a proper knob head.

P.P.S—You looked stunning tonight.

I haven't been reading nearly as many manga this year as I would have hoped. It's been tough finding one that captures my attention enough to be hooked. I'm almost done with the Harley Quinn comics or at least current so I'll need to start a new one.

Currently, I think I'm going to give
Say I Love You by Kanae Hazuki a shot. It sounds different and maybe it's just what I need to drag me out of my funk.

This week's question: 4f
Up next I think I’ll read…

My Answer:
I'm slightly obsessed with the Reverse Harem concept. I picked this one up a few weeks ago based on some reviews and suggestions. I'm looking forward to starting it later this week. It sounds dark, steamy and the cover is super creepy but it sounds amazing.

Synopsis
A lost virgin vampire queen. Two vampire knights sworn to protect her.
It’s about to get very hot… and bloody…

Ever since her mother was murdered by monsters five years ago, Shara Isador has been on the run. Alone, scared, and exhausted, she’s finally cornered in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Out of hope with nowhere else to turn, she’s ready to end it all when two men come to her rescue.

They say she’s a lost queen descended from Isis, and they’re her Blood, vampire knights sworn to protect her. It all seems like a crazy nightmare, until the alpha offers his blood. Then she realizes she’s never wanted anything more. Except maybe his body… and his friend’s, too.

But they’re not the only ones searching for a lost queen. Shara must learn how to wield her new powers quickly and conquer her fears if she intends to keep them all alive.

This week's question:
I’m currently reading…

My Answer:

I thought this questions was perfect for this week. I've been in a awful funk over the last couple of months. It doesn't help that we've been on summer break and while I expected to have all this time to read it just hasn't happened. Things have been crazy busy but hopefully I can start getting more reading time. Since I'm coming out of a funk I picked a book that captured my attention. I picked it up a couple of times but never actually got to read it yet.
Harem of Fangs
by Emma Dawn
**Reverse Harem/ HEA/Stand alone**

When renowned novelist Ally Swift goes to help a friend out of a jam, she finds herself thrust into a world she previously thought only existed in the paranormal books she wrote.

A world of vampires, magic, and mind-blowing sex that she could never have dreamed was possible.

Caught between five powerful vampires, she is trapped between the strength of their hands, the fire in their touch, and the ache in her skin for the thrust of their teeth.

She is the key to their survival, and for the four she denies, their lives will be forfeit.

Can she find a way to save them all, and place her heart in the hands of the one whose soul resonates with her own, and still finish that damn book she's got a deadline for?

Full length, stand alone, reverse harem, happily ever after.

Be prepared for laughter, love, and a harem you will dream of coming for you.

The Manga funk has run all summer long but I'm ready to get back into the groove. I'm going to start a new series because I think it's just what I need.

I did just finish up to current My Giant Nerd Boyfriend the web toon online (Here) be sure to check it out. I think it's adorable.

I'm starting with

Monster Musume
by OKAYADO
Find it on (Goodreads)

Monsters in mini-skirts!

Monsters--they're real, and they want to date us! Three years ago, the world learned that harpies, centaurs, catgirls, and all manners of fabulous creatures are not merely fiction; they are flesh and blood--not to mention scale, feather, horn, and fang. Thanks to the "Cultural Exchange Between Species Act," these once-mythical creatures have assimilated into society, or at least, they're trying.

When a hapless human teenager named Kurusu Kimihito is inducted as a "volunteer" into the government exchange program, his world is turned upside down. A snake-like lamia named Miia comes to live with him, and it is Kurusu's job to take care of her and make sure she integrates into his everyday life. Unfortunately for Kurusu, Miia is undeniably sexy, and the law against interspecies breeding is very strict. Even worse, when a ravishing centaur girl and a flirtatious harpy move in, what's a full-blooded teenage human with raging hormones to do?!

This week's question:

Which would you rather live without? Books or chocolate.

My Answer:

As I'm a huge chocoholic but I would give it up for books. Now coffee that's a whole different ball of trouble. I don't know if I can live without coffee. Good thing that wasn't the question. I think it might be tough but I can figure out how to make yummy desserts without chocolate. I will miss my chocolate brownies from scratch though.

This week's question:

I’m currently reading… & I can’t wait to get a copy of…

My Answer:

Since there isn't a new question at the time of writing this post. I decided to go with a couple of the above for fun.

Currently, I'm reading....More Than a Panther by Sara Summers. I've been working my way through the series. I finished the first and rolled right into the 2nd one. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I can't wait to get my hands on Fury of a Phoenix by Shannon Mayer. Still have to wait till July but I think it sounds worth it.

Synopsis
~An electric and gritty first in the series from the indomitable Shannon Mayer. I found myself laughing, and cheering for the sharp tongued, edgy Phoenix as she hunted those who'd destroyed her world~ Reviewer

"I knew the sins of my past would call to collect what was left of my soul. If I’d known the price I’d pay, I would’ve sacrificed more to stay hidden from the magic."

In the middle of Wyoming—away from the abnormals of the world—I thought I was free and clear. I started a new life. Found a love I’d never known in a husband, and a son who was my everything.

And in a blinding instant, that life was stolen from me.

The rage of a grieving mother is an ugly beast. More so when she has the skills and killer instinct to back up the wrath and the knowledge that an accident was anything but.

Once more, I will pick up my guns. This time to hunt those who took my husband’s and son’s lives.

Let them see the assassin, trained to kill abnormals, stalk the shadows again.

Let them see the Phoenix rise from the fragments of a broken life as she burns with a fury that cannot be contained.

Let the killing games begin.

I'm not loving any of my manga options. I'm not sure why other than a reading funk.

I'm going to try this one as I'm a huge zombie fan.

Highschool of the Dead by Daisuke Sato, Shouji Sato

Synopsis

Enjoy the first four volumes of Daisuke Sato and Shouji Sato's bestselling Highschool of the Dead series, remastered in full color for this handsome deluxe hardcover edition!
