February Re-cap

February Re-cap 2014
What happened in February at The Reading Diaries

The whole month just flew by it was so fast I lost all track of time and didn't get as much reading done as I would like. I read a total of
11 books. So for the year I'm at 20 books. No where near my target goal of 12 books behind where I should be. Hopefully I've got a new routine started that will allow me to read more.

I did get lucky the hubby got a xbox one he finally caved so he's been bugging me a lot less to join him in watching movies or tv shows later in the evening. I've also started reading while watching his shows so hopefully I've found more time to read this month because I love it so much.

I tried really hard not to add a lot of books to my collection. I recently within the last two weeks upgraded my kindle hd fire to the new hdx fire. Only because my four year old never lets me use it when I would like. Of course now that I have it I'm still using my kindle keyboard to read. I've only played with the new kindle hd fire but it has a goodreads app which is kind of interesting. I need to check it out more. I like that it has a longer lasting battery for reading.

Books I finished

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer (Review)
Glitches by Marissa Meyer (Review)
A Soul's Kiss by Debra Chapoton (Review)

Goals
Since the last few months have been blah for reading. I'm really hoping to find my groove because I have all these awesome books I'm wanting to read plus I've been slacking on the blogging.
1. Read 25 Books
2. Comment more on other blogs instead of just creep.
3. More meaningful non- meme or review posts.
4. Attempt to be more active in the blogger community.
5. Enjoy reading & blogging.

Non- Bookish reading updates.

I'm sure you'll be seeing a lot more of my craftiness on the blog. I added the new skill of sewing to my abilities. I've got lots of sewing projects in the works including clothes and purses. I've created a few purses this month with lots more in the works. I'm hoping to start quilting this month or the next as well as work on my crochet blanket to get it finished. I also want to create a few cross stitch patterns. I've also pulled out the sketchbook this last month so it's been a lot of fun doodling.

Here is my new messenger bag in leather. I love the bag its perfect when I need to carry more than I can stuff in my regular purse. As you can see it will carry a water bottle, two books my new kindle as well as several room for anything else I may need. I've made a set of four pillows as well as several other purses I'm still learning so they aren't perfect. I'm plotting my next purse right now.

I've also become a baking freak. This morning I'm going to make meringue cookies and a round of macarons. This will be my second shot at Macarons my eggs didn't work the first time (I used liquid egg whites).

So it was a low reading month but I have huge plans.

  1. I love the Lunar Chronicles so much. I'm going to get some of the novellas read this month. I have really learned this year I'm not very good about reading on the computer.
