Happy Release Day & Review: When Dealing With Dragons

Title -
When Dealing With Dragons
Author - Dana Swift
Series - Standalone
Genre -  Romantasy
Format - eArc
From - Over The River PR

Synopsis

Bonding with dragons gave humans magic to craft metal—now, two school rivals have to work together to protect a priceless secret, all while fighting their growing attraction to each other, from Dana Swift, author of Cast in Firelight.

Copper-crafter Farren Walsh is set on following in her father's footsteps to become a dragon veterinarian. The only thing more powerful than her love for these magnificent creatures is her hate for those who exploit them for their precious metal. That includes her classmate, an arrogant dragon racer named James Murphy, whose silver-crafting family represents the worst of human greed and dragon abuse—plus, he's the biggest competition for the college scholarship she desperately needs.

When James strongarms his way into interning at her family's dragon sanctuary for the summer, it puts everything at risk. Farren isn't just the plain copper-crafter she seems. She's hiding a secret that could not only change her life, but their society as a whole. And James, trying to find refuge from his controlling father, harbors his own secret, years-long crush on Farren. Hating James might be harder than she thought, but Farren can't risk getting too close: the fate of an endangered species is at stake.

When Dealing with Dragons is a delightful young adult dual-POV romantasy about cross-class romance, finding family, and creating a better world for creatures big and small.

Review

I received When Dealing With Dragons from Wednesday Books in return for an honest review.

Farren just wants to get the scholarship so that she can be just like her dad a veterinarian for dragons. She didn't plan to save her rival and end up with him spending his recovery at her home putting them potentially at risk. However, the more time she spends with James the more she learns she may have judged him but when he learns her secret will he be able to keep it.

I loved Farren she's a sweetheart who just wants to save the dragons and I really felt like I could connect with her. James is the perfect guy to show up at her door, he's had a crush forever and now he has the chance to win her over. They have this sweet romance that blooms as the story progresses. This is a YA romance so it's a fantasy story with just the right balance of romance.

This is my first book by the author and I'm obsessed I ended up devouring it in just a single reading session in one afternoon. The author has done a beautiful job creating a captivating story that sparked my imagination and stole my heart. I found the entire story to be refreshing take on the dragon rider concept and I loved it. I loved every moment of it and can't wait to read her other books. Highly recommend if you enjoy YA dragon fantasy.

Happy Release Day & Review: Masked Secrets

Title - Masked Secrets
Author - J.D. Carothers
Series - Prequel to the Love Over Murder Series
Genre - Contemporary Romance
Format - eArc
From - Over The River PR

Synopsis

He’s a billionaire living for fun, fighting expectations, and avoiding his future. She’s an alluring, intelligent, career-focused woman. Throw in a masquerade ball, a steamy, encounter, and a villain. It’s a recipe for fireworks.

Brooke

It all starts when the power goes out, leaving me trapped in a dark elevator.

Just when the walls are closing in and panic starts to take over, a sexy stranger comes to my rescue.

His deep voice, yummy British accent, warm shoulder to lean on, and flask of expensive whiskey is just what I need.

Embarrassment aside, what happened shouldn’t matter. I’ll never see him again. That’s good because I’m no longer the adventurous risk-taker I was in college. Now, I’m a rule-following professional—at least that’s what I tell myself.

Stuart

Her wavy, auburn hair, sparkling emerald eyes, and perfect curves mesmerize me.

When she panics, my instinct is to protect her. That is until she snuggles against me and sparks fly, making me want much, much more.

I regret not getting her mobile number. It shouldn’t bother me. I’m not looking for a relationship. And she doesn’t seem like the type for a fling.

To my surprise, she turns up unexpectedly. I’m relieved and thrilled. But she pushes me away.

Welcome to the fast-paced Prequel for the Love Over Murder series. While the Prequel is shorter than the other books in the series, it's a standalone story featuring one couple's journey to their happily-ever-after. Each of the other books in the series is also a standalone book featuring a couple's journey to their guaranteed H.E.A. The series is especially for lovers of swoony moments intertwined with a light twist of suspense.

Review

Brooke ends up locked in a powerless elevator and if not for Stuart she would have been in full on panic mode. Thankfully while they are stuck he is able to calm her but by the time he has the chance to get her number she's gone. He's hoping to find her but fate takes a hand and sends her right into his meeting the next morning and she's assigned to work with him for the time he's in town.

I loved Brooke she's a sweetheart who's just trying to make it in the the vicious corporate law world. Stuart is swoonworthy in every way you can't help falling for him. They have this sweet whirlwind romance that is a perfect balance of romance and spice. We are introduced to a cast of characters for future books as this is a interconnected standalone series.

Review

I received To Have & To Stalk in return for an honest review from Candi Kane PR.

I'm obsessed with Shay she's such a sweetheart you can't help cheering her on through he story. My bestie has the same illness and we've had so many spoon conversations over the years. She quickly stole my heart and has become one of my favorite characters you can't not love her. What can I say about Calder except he's swoon worthy and plus who doesn't love a morally grey guy.

I was hooked from the first page till the very last and ended up devouring it in just a few short hours. I loved the chemistry between Shay and Calder they have this sweet yet spicy romance. This is a darker stalker rom-com that I feel is on the lighter side of dark so everyone will enjoy it. We have a great cast of side characters that just enhance the story but it's Shay and Calder who stole the show.

This is my first book by the author and I'm addicted. She does a beautiful job creating a captivating story that I couldn't put down. I enjoyed every moment of the characters story and can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun stalker romance that will have you swooning and giggling give this one a chance. I'm looking forward to exploring the authors backlist books as I'm a fan.

Book Tour: Review: How To Lose a Laird

Title - How to Lose a Laird
 Author - Anna Bradley
Series - Cairncross Castle
Genre - Historical Romance
Format - Paperback
From - TLC Book Tours

Synopsis

Three unusually gifted sisters in Georgian Scotland must protect their family fortress from those who would steal it’s rumored treasures—and their hearts—in this sweeping, adventure-filled, historical romance series for readers of India Holton, Lex Crocher, Manda Collins, and Evie Dunmore.

Despite their village’s wild, insistent rumors, middle sister Freya MacLeod is no more a witch than her extraordinary siblings. Quiet and observant, she can’t control the weather—although her magnificently skilled drawings often predict it. But now a very different sort of storm has besieged their home of Castle Cairncross. When Freya’s fearless younger sister disappears and is accused of murder, Freya is determined to prove her innocence—and bring her back. That means matching wits with a warrior—no matter how dangerous he may
be . . .

A reluctant laird, Callum is glad to escape his clan’s intrigues. But helping to protect Castle Cairncross as a favor to a friend is far more difficult than he thought. Especially when the seemingly timid Freya eludes him, his battle-honed instincts—and enrages the village into putting a bounty on both their heads . . .

As they flee, Freya is stunned to see how caring—and vulnerable—Callum can be. . . . But he must keep his growing feelings for her hidden in order to honor a secret promise to his clan. Yet as their peril increases, they may find that battling side-by-side will uncover something more precious than gold . . .

Review

I received How To Lose a Laird in return for an honest review from TLC Book Tours.

The MacLeod sisters have been called witches by the towns people but that's as far from the truth as you can get. They are just a little different after all her sister has a gift with animals. When the town is after her sister thinking she murdered someone even Freya is forced to flee. Callum has been tasked with keeping her safe and drags her off to his home.

I love Freya she's such a great character who loves her sisters even if they tend to force her to leave her home. I love her chemistry with Callum he's jus the perfect partner for her. I felt like I was really able to connect with them both and cheered them on through the whole story. Neither one was looking for it but they can't deny the connection they have, it's sweet steamy and just works so well.

This is my first book by the author and I'm addicted. Each but in the series is a interconnecting standalone. I have not read read the first book with Cat's story but I think that's on the agenda. I need to be ready for out third sisters story which comes out next. I devoured this one in just one afternoon hooked from the first page till the last. I'm in my historical era and this one hit all the right spots. The author did a beautiful job of creating a story that captured my heart as well as imagination. I loved every moment of Freya and Callum's story. If you enjoy historical romance I highly recommend.

Book Review: Wings of Life

Title - Wings of Life
Author - Meghan Le Fay
Series - Dragonbound Chronicles
Genre - Romantasy
Format - eArc
From - Page & Vine

Synopsis

Fans of enemies-to-lovers romance and epic dragon-filled fantasy will be swept into Le Fay's Wings of Life, where duty, danger, and forbidden desire collide.

They cast me off to Rihtlond as a bride.

They don’t care if I come back alive.

Too sharp-tongued and too curious, I am my mother’s greatest lament and my father’s constant frustration. Unwilling to bow to their will, I’ve become expendable, worth sending on a mission doomed to fail.

Armed with nothing but a coded journal, a quill, and my wits, I’m thrust into the kingdom of our oldest enemy—a land of storms and warriors—to wed their high dane’s son. Trapped on their ruthless continent, I am no blushing bride. I’m a spy sent to unlock Rihtlond’s weaknesses… a cuckoo in the robin’s nest.

But my heart still bleeds red when the weaponmaster of these strange people steals it away. Through him, I learn to unlock their secrets. What I uncover is more dangerous than I ever imagined: magic thrumming in the roots of Rihtlond, a dragon hidden in plain sight, and a love I was never meant to feel. Holding this knowledge, I am meant to return home and bind myself to a future I was given long ago.

Now, as war rises and alliances crumble, I must choose between duty and desire, between the family who cast me aside and the bond that awakens who I truly am. To protect what I’ve found—and who I become—I must risk everything. Even if it brands me a traitor. Even if it costs me my life.

Review

I received Wings Of Life in return for an honest review from Page & Vine.

Serae is betrothed to a rival prince to form an alliance between two waring kingdoms. However, her father has other plans and sends her in to discover secrets and he will sweep her away before the wedding. The more time she spends with Wep the more she starts to question everything add in secret dragons that she's formed a connection with. She may not be able to betray the people she's come to care about.

I love Serae as she's been forced into a marriage she didn't want and sent away from the only life she has known. Instead of rolling over she embraced it even forming a connection with a dragon and finding that maybe friendship and even romance. This is an action packed story from start to finish I was on the edge of my seat till the last page.

I was hooked right from the very first page and devoured this book in just one long afternoon of reading. I couldn't put it down and had to know what was going to happen next in Serae's advantures as well as I needed more dragons. I am official obsessed with the authors storytelling it was beautifully written and stole a place in my heart. I can't wait for the next book to come out. Highly recommend if you are in your romantasy era as it checks all my boxes.

   About the Author:
I started writing the moment I could read. My first characters were Wibbley and Squig and I used MS Word and clipart to bring them to life when I was a kid in elementary school. I started seriously thinking about being a writer in High School and I remember the day exactly, because it was such an epiphany. I was always so uncertain. You know how everyone was always asking what you wanted to be when you were older? Well I NEVER could decide. I wanted to be a marine biologist. An actor. A FIRE FIGHTER (thank you Joaquin Phoenix in Ladder 49 for that phase). One day it hit me—A WRITER. I could do it ALL. Then you couldn’t stop me from writing. I penned my first novel at fifteen (but don’t ask me to show it to you, because it’s like I was in competition to beat the thesaurus). When I was diagnosed with a chronic illness, writing became even more important, because it became my therapy. When I wrote my characters, suddenly I wasn’t so alone. These days you can find me daydreaming about where to travel with my husband, singing in my car, or lost in the newest K drama.
