2020 Discussion Challenge

2020 Discussion Challenge
Sign up (here) use #LetsDiscuss2020

I always want to do this one and I've signed up many times but it never seems to be successful. I'm hopeful this year will be the one.

I always come up with great ideas but I'm terrible at getting them from my journal to the blog. So it's safe to say I have a whole journal full of discussion posts from the last couple of years that I would love to share but always end up chickening out. I'm not a great writer so I get super nervous but that is one of my goals for the new year. To break out of my shell and write more discussion posts.

My level this year is going to be ambitious. I'm hoping to do Chatty Kathy which will pull me out of my comfort zone. I'm aiming for 21 to 30 discussion posts for the year.

I do plan to add my own little twist with an Instagram post for each discussion post. So I can add photography to each discussion post. I plan to work on being more active with Instagram so maybe it will push me in the right direction for more discussion posts.

Be sure to join in this year will be fun, and check back to see what I have in store.

This one looks like a lot of fun and has lots of options. I'm going to go with Fortnightly which is 26 books. That means 1 category from each topic and one wild card. I can't wait to start.

I always attempt this one but seem to get overwhelmed by my goals. This year I'm making a list and plan to be successful with them all. I like to think I've got a great list a little bit of this and that.

1. I want to read 250 books this year. I had a huge reading slump in 2019 and hope to change that with the new year.

2. Read 2 manga per week.

3. Read 2 comic books per week.

4. Post every day on Instagram. I've become a bit of a slacker on this one over the year as well.

5. Blog every day. Start turning some of my content and post ideas into reality. I'm really good at coming up with ideas just not great at executing them.

Not a crazy list but a great start for the new year.

RELEASE BLITZ - Syler McKnight by Cora Brent

Title: Syler McKnight
An Enemies to Lovers Holiday Tale
Author: Cora Brent
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy
Release Date: December 19, 2019

Blurb
Maybe there’s one of us in every family.
The guy who scorns all the rules.
The guy who shuns expectations.
The guy most commonly known as the ultimate villain in a cultish self help movement.
On the other hand, perhaps we’re not as common as I thought.
But so what if I’m never anyone’s hero?
At least I’m a good brother. That is the one thing I manage to get right.  So when my big sister is abandoned by her prick of a husband, leaving her and her four kids alone a week before Christmas, I don’t hesitate to head home.
To my surprise, I’m not the only one who shows up.
Katrina has always been my sister’s best friend.  She’s headstrong and hot. She’s neurotic and sexy.  She belts out old power ballads with horrible, tuneless abandon and her hair always smells like vanilla cookie batter.
We have a long history of being at odds and she’s never appreciated my natural talent for getting under her skin.
And then there was the time when we accidentally got naked together…
There might have been some post-wedding horniness involved.
Combined with antique furniture abuse.
Along with a creative application of lemon buttercream.
It’s kind of a forbidden topic.
Now, nearly a decade later, it’s possible I’m still using that memory to get off once or twice or twelve times a month.
Katrina never knew that back in the day she was the one girl who really got to me.
In the spirit of the holidays I’ve decided it’s time to settle the score.
She already thinks I’m not one of the good guys.
She also realizes I’ve got something she wants for Christmas.
All she has to do is swallow her high maintenance pride and ask nicely.
I can guarantee she’ll get more than she ever bargained for...

*SYLER MCKNIGHT is a complete stand alone with:
·       Small town quirkiness
·       Enemies to Lovers (with majorly hot hate sex)
·       A sarcastic flannel-shirt-wearing anti-hero

He was the bad boy of rock-n-roll; cocky, short-tempered, and the sexiest man I’d ever seen. I was just a librarian in a small town. He had no clue who I was, but I knew everything about him. After all, he was the reason I moved across the country.

I never thought he’d know my name, let alone whisper it while he held me tight and made me forget about the agony of my past. He was my protector, my reason, my calm before the storm… but nothing good lasts forever, and Gabriel Hunter was no exception.

Excerpt
My heart has held a place for him since I was fifteen years old. I never thought I’d actually be friends with him, let alone friends who held hands.
When we get to the library, I unfortunately have to unclasp our fingers so I can get my keys and open the door. I turn to tell him thank you when he pushes the door open and motions for me to precede him. “Ga—”
“Go.” He interrupts me, and instead of arguing, I go in and turn on the lights. After I set my purse beneath my desk, I stand fully and twitch at the shock of seeing him so close. “I’m gonna take off. You done at six?”
“You don’t need to wa—”
“Cady, baby, I don’t do anything I don’t want to. So stop telling me what I don’t need when I know exactly what I want.”
My breath freezes in my throat at the implication.
“So I’ll ask again, are you off at six?”
Unable to form a sentence, I simply nod.
And then he leans forward, just slightly, and I jump when his hand slides through my hair and his fingers cradle my head. His lips ever so gently brush against my cheek, and he glides his hand out of my hair, down my neck, and halfway over my collarbone before he lifts it again and cups my jaw, then runs his thumb across my lower lip. “Later, sugar.”

Author Bio

The first time Anna tried to read a romance novel, her hair caught on fire when she leaned over a candle to sneak a peek at her mom’s Harlequin. She thinks being hit on the head with a shirtless Fabio until the smoke cleared is what sparked the flame for her love of romance.

Anna was born in Wisconsin, but currently lives in Texas with her husband and two boys. She writes sexy romance that always has a happy ending and loves bringing characters back for cameos. Less than six degrees of separation connects any of her novels.

When she’s not writing or reading, she’s watching reruns of her favorite romcoms, talking to her dog and cat like they’re human, eating carbs, or practicing hand lettering.

COVER REVEAL - Worth a Shot by Gail Haris

Title: Worth a Shot
Author: Gail Haris
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Cover Design: Cassy Roop, Pink Ink Designs
Release Date: January 21, 2020

Blurb
One simple run-in got me more than I bargained for...and now I can’t go back. It might be dangerous, but it might just be worth a shot.

Victoria Angel…

It was just a cup of coffee…that’s all I was after.

Some much-needed caffeine to get me through wedding dress shopping. That’s it. But I guess the universe had other plans. How do I go from getting coffee to waking up in the hospital after being involved in a drive-by?

And how does my mysterious hero go from taking a bullet for me to getting arrested and put in prison?

His last name is Goodman, but according to the police, he’s not at all a good man. However, it feels as though fate brought us together. The police don’t agree…and my fiancé definitely doesn’t either.

Tristan Goodman…

She thinks I’m her hero, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Because of the business that I’m in and the people I surround myself with, there’s always a target on my back, and anyone associated with me is in the line of fire, including the quirky yet gorgeous Victoria Angel.

I’ve brought nothing but danger to her life the minute she bumped into me in that coffee shop. I know she’s not mine, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from going after what I want. And what I want is an angel.

She’d be wise to end all contact with me, exactly like her fiancé wishes, but I can’t leave her alone…especially after I have a taste of heaven.

Author Bio
Gail Haris believes in fairy tales, love, and laughter as the best medicine.

She was born and raised in a small town in the Midwest. After graduating with a degree in Mass Communications, Gail went on adventures traveling in America and Europe.

Her favourite adventures are the ones she gets lost in with a good book.

Her love for reading and traveling lead her to attend book conventions. Those conventions gave her the encouragement she needed to combine her passion for creativity and storytelling. Using coffee and her imagination she loves writing contemporary romances that blend laughter and true love out of every day chaos.

When Gail isn’t day dreaming in front of her computer, she’s busy raising her two daughters with the man of her dreams. She loves traveling with her family, binge watching television series with her husband, singing Disney songs with her daughters, and having huge family and friends get-togethers that involve lots of food and usually a cake.

She hopes by following her own dream of becoming an author, she can set an example to her daughters that dreams can become reality. Maybe she can encourage you too.

Never stop believing in love, dreams, and yourself. And coffee…don’t give up on coffee and books ;)

I've been working on my ebook wishlist. I have so many potential amazing books that I want to read.

**CAUTION-------PITCH BLACK READ**

My mother was the Madison Ridge Killer … and I helped her.

At nine, I was given a new start—a new life. My adoptive parents did everything they could to help me forget my past, and for a while, they succeeded.

But I was never normal. I never truly forgot all I saw or did.

Now, twenty years later, I work in the billing department for a small city newspaper. And like decades before, not that far away, another serial killer is on the loose. I can still see her. I can still hear my mother coaxing me to slide the bright red lipstick over her beautiful victims' lips.

But this isn’t her and I’m determined to figure out who it is. I may work behind the scenes at the Rockford Times, but I’m about to get thrown right in the middle of the biggest story our city has ever seen.

My name is Anna Monroe and I’m full of secrets.

They say you’re not your past. I’m not so sure they’re right.

Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

This one sounds interesting. I love the cover and can't wait to get my hands on it.

My Choice this week is

Title - Blackbird Rising
by - Keri Arthur
Expected Publication - February 3rd 2020
Add to (Goodreads)

A modern fantasy novel inspired by the King Arthur legend...

For hundreds of years, the Witch King’s sword has been buried in stone awaiting the next hand to draw it.

Many have tried. None have succeeded.

Gwen is the last in a long line of De Montfort witches whose duty it is to protect the sword of all power. But when she returns to King Island to perform the blessing, a mysterious pulse of blue light tells her that someone has attempted to draw the sword. Before she can investigate any further, demons attack. She only survives with the help of a mysterious stranger who disappears as quickly as he appears.

Gwen and her grandmother, Moscelyne, soon discover that minor gateways into Darkside—the traditional home of both demons and dark elves—are being forced open by magic. Even worse, someone is now sending demons after the Witch King’s heirs.

As vital artifacts are stolen by Darkside and the deaths draw altogether too close to home, Gwen and Mo—with the help of old gods and an ancient order of knights once thought dead—scramble to unravel the clues and stop the murderous would-be king from claiming the crown.

If they fail and the wrong hand draws the sword of power, he can unlock the main gateway into Darkside and unleash utter hell onto an unsuspecting and unprepared England....

Blurb

He’s the world’s most alpha Marine and the last man I should be letting jingle my bells this holiday season.

So why does Clint O’Dell keep running through my thoughts wearing nothing but a Santa hat? And why do I stupidly agree that we should be Christmas friends with benefits?

Someone must have spiked my eggnog.

I don’t do Marines.

Or Santas.

I learned my lesson about both the hard way.

But when Clint steps in to rescue me—from a murderous goose, a rogue reindeer, and the ghost of Christmas Right Now causing trouble in my bakery—I can’t help but wonder if we’re meant to be more than friends.

If maybe Clint is the holiday miracle I’ve been praying for…or if all the magic will disappear with the season.

Humbugged is a laugh out loud holiday romp featuring a Marine with a heart of gold and a baker in need of a hero. Complete with the world's most awkward Christmas caroling, a photoshoot with furry friends, and more naughty baked goods than is good or decent.
