Review
Turned at Dark is a short novella/prequel to the exciting
Shadow Falls series. It’s about 32 pages so I don’t want to give too much away.
This novella is the story of how Della went from carrier to vampire in one wild
night. She encounters someone she thought was dead who changes her life
unintentionally turning her into a vampire. She will be forced to choose
between faking her death or heading off to Shadow Falls. The choice is up to her and she’s running out
of time.
I actually read the first book before reading the novella so
I already liked Della. It was interesting to read about Della’s story. She’s
easy to connect with and you can’t help cheering her on as she handles becoming
a vampire. She deals with it better than I would, because I’d be freaking out.
I like the concept for the supernatural community they are hidden but the students
attend a supernatural school, and learn to live with the non-supernatural. It’s
a captivating quick read. I wasn’t able to put down. I also think the idea of
being able to read brainwaves is really clever. This series has a lot of
promise and I plan to read the rest this month.
