Diary Entry

January 19th 2013

Reading

Do you ever feel overwhelmed? I sometimes do when I look on my ever growing reading piles. I have them divided by shelf at least the physical ones the ebooks are just all on the kindles (HD fire and keyboard). Real life has honestly kept me from reading as much as I would like so far this year. I plan to kick it up a bunch and get ahead of my reading goal of 200 but so far I'm still chasing by 4 books.

I'm pages from being done with Northern Bites by Nikki Jefford. Literally pages maybe 10. I know how can I not read the last ten? well I was so darn tired last night I crashed on the bed. With the hubby gone I have the whole King size bed to myself. We also have a memory foam so it's like sleeping on a cloud. It's hard to stay awake when I hit the pillow so reading in bed isn't a option.

I'm going to start a zombie book for a upcoming tour it's short so it shouldn't take too long. I'm hoping to read the zombie book and start another review book today. I made a pot of coffee so that should keep me going. If only the kids would leave me alone for a few hours I might get some work done.

The hubby is out of town and it looks like he's going to be gone most of next week so I'm shooting for as many books as I can over the next 5 or so days. I'm not doing too well yet but I plan to spend less time catching up on netflix shows and more time reading.

Sadly I had to DNF - Endless by Amanda Gray. I got about 40% and I was struggling. It's a unique concept but I didn't think it was fair to push through and write a negative review. The story just didn't catch my interest, but it could be I just wasn't in the mood so maybe down the road I will give it another shot.

TV
I found out after the fact that SyFy has turned one of my favorite book series into a tv show. It's Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. I'm super excited but I've not watched it yet but I did record it.  When the hubby gets home he said he would watch it with me. (it's so hard waiting though as I read other bloggers thoughts). He's such a sweetheart when he wants to be. The only drawback to the hubby out of town is I have to wait for him to get home to watch Grimm which is so hard.

Sunday afternoon and it's Twilight: Breaking Dawn 2 on Showtime. How can I miss this even though I own the blue ray. I'm such a dork, but I loved the series and the movies. I just can't help getting lost in the sparkling vampires now and then. Going to have to chase it with a little Pacific Rim my favorite movie of 2013.

Puppy
So we've been talking about getting another puppy. Our boy will be a year on the 21st of this month. He's still a big puppy and I haven't been able to curb all our bad habits. The hubby rough housed with him as a baby and he plays way to rough sometimes. I'm thinking we should wait till I can curb the rough play before getting another one. He wants a non-hairy dog like a blue tick but I want a husky. Yesterday while he is out of town he agreed I could get a husky. Of course he gives me the ok after I've decided to wait. I think he's got the puppy craze.

Challenges.
So this month I've signed up for two new goodreads challenges in hopes that will encourage me to read more. One is just a book a week which isn't a big deal or won't be a big deal the other I think is two a week but I can use the same book hopefully. I'm curious to see how these will play out. The rest of my challenges I haven't made a dent in this year. Ugh such a slacker.

New to me
Falling Fast by Sophie McKenzie (Goodreads)
I've never heard of this author before. She has a bunch of books so I find it hard to believe I've been missing out. This one sounds cute I even picked up the ebook in hopes of reading it soon.

Synopsis

When River auditions for a part in an interschool performance of Romeo and Juliet, she finds herself smitten by Flynn, the boy playing Romeo. But Flynn comes from a damaged family—is he even capable of giving River what she wants? The path of true love never did run smooth . . .

This is real life, not a rehearsal...

Just added this one to my collection sounds good.

Winterbourne by Susan Carroll (Goodreads)
I used to be a huge fan of historical romance but then I found a whole bunch of new stuff. This one looks really good. I've added it to my TBR list as a must.

Synopsis
In the harsh, turbulent Middle Ages, lovely Lady Melyssan remains as she always has been sweet, timid, and content to be alone. But in a desperate move to resist the advances of the dreaded king, she claims to be married to his worst enemy, Lord Jaufre de Macy, the legendary Dark Knight. Seeking temporary shelter in Jaufre's abandoned castle, Winterbourne, she is unprepared for the fierce, angry warrior who returns to confront her. He is a man as rough and unforgiving as the Welsh border lands he rules and she is as gentle and innocent as a new day. But neither Jaufre's dark heart nor Melyssan's innocent one can resist the love that is their destiny nor protect them from the danger drawing ever closer...

Off to write a review and start on my zombie book. Everyone have awesome weekend.
