Diary Entry

January 13th 2013

How was your weekend?
It was a quiet weekend at home but not a lot of read was done.
Reading
It's almost half way through the month and so far I'm not doing to good. I really need to kick it up a notch or I will be chasing my goal all year instead of leading. I don't have an excuse other than the hubby has been home a lot and we have been watching lots of netflix tv shows. Currently we are watching Season 2 of The Good Wife with random disc's of Mike and Molly season 2. Both are really good in different ways. However he likes to watch the whole disc so it has been cutting in on my reading. I need to break it because it's killing my reading. Is it wrong to look forward to him being out of town or having to deploy (he's only gone 2 months) just so I can get some reading done?

Currently I've only read 4 books and I'm 2 books behind. I hope to finish my current book tonight because the hubby will be flying. I hope that tomorrow will allow me to read another book.

S&S Reviews
So I've started doing Short & Sweet reviews. These are for the novellas or books that are short. It's really hard to write a long review about a book with 30 pages.

I'm currently reading Awake at Dawn only 30%. It's hard to put down but real life keeps coming back to bite me in the butt. However the hubby is watching the new Fast and Furious movie so I should have some time to read. Aside from typical house stuff.

Crafty
I'm going to purchase a sewing machine when we get our taxes back. I've always wanted to make purses and quilt blankets. I'm thinking now would be a perfect time to get started. Might even make a business out of it. My sister is a sewing addict she can whip out a beautiful quilt in a week. Maybe I'll make quilts and purses for christmas. The munchkin wants me to make her dresses for her dolls as well as herself. The good thing is I can listen to an audiobook while I create new projects. I'm making a list of my 2014 crafty stuff as I write this out.

Goals for the rest of January.
I'm still shooting for 25 books but it doesn't look like I will make it unless I read a bunch of shorter books. I'm considering it just to get ahead.
I'm going to try to read multiple books at one time this year as well.
Starting with A Game of Thrones by R.R. Martin - I plan to read a few chapters per day.

Bookish
New Covers I've stumbled across recently
Orenda by Ruth Silver - The cover is beautiful I'm going to add it to my wishlist.
Sixth Grave on the Edge by Darynda Jones - I'm so behind in this series. I need to catch up.
Minders by Michele Jaffe - This one looks interesting.

Around the blogosphere.
I'm the kind of girl that reads all my emails. It can be tough when I open my email in the morning to find over 200 but I'm dedicated.
A couple reviews that I found this morning.
Alienated review @ Primrose Musings - A great review that just makes me want to read it more. Glad I have a ARC that I need to get too.
13 Little Blue Envelopes review @ Reading in Winter - I've had this one on my TBR pile I think it's time to read it.
Stay with me @ Waves of Fiction - This one looks good. I'm going to have to pick up a copy. Great review.

Off to make coffee and read a little. Have a fantastic day!

  1. Wow! 25 books in one month? Impressive! And I totally get what you're saying about the hubs and reading. I always get sucked in when he's watching tv (plus, I just want to spend time with him), but then I regret not getting my reading in. Books are so much better than TV, but TV is a much better at distracting (espcially when hubby is watching it).
