Synopsis
Leave it to Maryah Woodsen to break the one rule that will screw up eternity: Never erase your memories.
Before entering this life, Maryah did the unthinkable—she erased. Now, at seventeen years old, she’s clueless that her new adoptive family has known her for centuries, that they are perpetually reincarnated souls, and that they have supernatural abilities. Oh, and she's supposed to love (not despise) Nathan, the green-eyed daredevil who saved her life.
Nathan is convinced his family’s plan to spark Maryah's memory is hopeless, but his love for her is undying. After spending (and remembering) so many lifetimes together, being around an empty version of his soulmate is heart shattering. He hates acting like a stalker, but has no choice because the evil outcast who murdered Maryah in their last lifetime is still after her.
While Maryah’s hunter inches closer, she and Nathan make assumptions and hide secrets that rip them further apart. Maryah has to believe in the magic within her, Nathan must have faith in the power of their love, and both need to grasp onto the truth before they lose each other forever—and discover just how lonely eternity can be.
Review
I received Grasping at Eternity in return for an honest
review from the author. Maryah was a typical teenager until the night her life
changed forever. After having a fight with her father about her being average
unlike her twin brother Mikey. Upon returning to the house her parents and
brother are attacked murdered by a man looking for a girl who isn't Maryah.
After almost dying Maryah starts seeing a handsome angel expecting him to take
her to heaven with her parents and brother she’s surprised to pull through.
Instead of staying
with her cousin she decides to stay with her Godmother and her family that she
doesn't know. Thankfully Krista her best friend and cousin goes with her. What surprises
Maryah is that Krista appears to know her knew family after having just met
them. After being in Sedona less than a day things start happening like the
fire that almost kills her if not for Carson her godmothers son. As if that’s
not enough Maryah learns that the handsome angel is really her godmother’s son
Nathaniel, causing her to question why she’s been seeing him in her dreams. As
she starts to unravel the secrets of her path, something danger is lurking will
they be able to save her and restore her memories?
Maryah is a fantastic character; she’s starts out so naive
and innocent to the whole Elemental world. I really love that she’s grows as a
character into a woman who fights instead of running. Nathan is the perfect guy
in every way willing to risk everything to keep Maryah safe. He’s the kind of
guy every girl would love to have, and he’s exactly what the very confused
Maryah needs. The book has an excellent cast of supporting characters which you
can’t help falling in love with as well. I hope to see more of them in future
books.
I love Grasping at Eternity!!! It’s a brilliant story
involving soul mates, reincarnation and with a little darkness tossed in for
conflict. The book grabs you right from the start with Maryah’s tragic start
stealing your heart as she deals with the loss of her family. As you get to
know her Kindrily you fall in love with them because they are all working hard
to help Maryah become the women they all expect her to be. With a fantastic
cast of characters it’s no wonder this book was hard to put down. I stayed up
super late reading only to finish in the morning, because my bed is super
comfy. I love everything about the story is engaging, the characters lovable
and easy to relate to and the bad guys are shocking. I think another great point is it’s a clean
story so teens as well as adults will enjoy the book. The author gives us a
unique insight into both Maryah and Nathan which I really enjoyed it’s
interesting to experience what they both are feeling. Grasping at Eternity
stole my heart leaving me with happy tears and climbing into my top five all-time
favorite books. I’m dying to get my hands on the next one I can’t wait to read
more about Maryah and Nathan. I highly suggest everyone looking for a
paranormal romance should check this series out.
