Today I'm thrilled to share a interview with the brilliant and very talented Angela Carling. The author of her newest book Becoming Bryn which I was lucky enough to snag a copy of. My Review can be found (Here) Be sure to check it out.
Mandy - Where did you come up with
the idea for Becoming Bryn?
Angela - I was
thinking about some twins in my extended family and how one is more naturally
outgoing than the other. That got me thinking about how the shy twin must feel
in her sister’s “shadow”. Thus, Becoming
Bryn was born. It’s crazy, ideas can come from anywhere.
Mandy - Do you see yourself in any
of your characters?
Angela - Not
specifically in the characters, but more in the sibling situation. My older
sister is GORGEOUS and every time I brought a boyfriend home, she seemed to
saunter out in a bikini. Yeah, I was
flat as a board, loved for my shining personalityJ Soo..I guess what I am saying Jesse’s feelings of
inadequacy are not a total mystery to me!
Mandy - Did you always know you
wanted to be a writer?
Angela - Yep, it was a
little girl dream, that with a ton of hard work actually came true. My life is
Disneyland… what can I say.
Mandy - Where do you prefer to do
your writing? What type of computer or do you write by hand or typewriter?
Angela - I LOVE MY
COMPUTER. I’D MARRY IT IF I WEREN’T ALREADY HAPPILY MARRIED TO MY AMAZING
HUSBAND. Okay, I’m kidding about the marry part, but I do live on my blinged
out computer for all my writing.
Mandy - Do you prefer e-books,
paperbacks or hardbacks?
Angela - I prefer any book I can get my hands in any form. I do love the smell of new bookstores though. I hope
that doesn’t go away!
Mandy - What are five items you
never leave home without?
Angela - Some kind of
music, sunglasses (it’s Arizona), my adorable purple purse, flip flops, and my
writing computer.
Mandy -Do you have a guilty pleasure?
Angela - I have a soft
spot for kitties and love spending time with them, especially my munchkin named
Frodo BagginsJ.
My family even volunteers to care for the kitties at the animal shelter once a
week.
Mandy - If you had to pick just
one who is your favorite muppet?
Angela - Ms. Piggy.
She is so raw and I just get that personality!
Mandy - Any future writing plans?
Angela - Yes, ma’ m!
I’m writing a trilogy that takes place about thirty years in the future, yet in
many ways is nostalgic of the past. Everyone lives on homes that are attached
to track and no one lives in one place longer than two months before they’re
relocated. I also have a standalone
called the New York Experiment that I want to write. Both projects are so fun.
I can’t wait to share them with you!
Mandy -Anything you want to say
to your readers?
Angela - I really
appreciate my readers so I guess I want to say thank you. I love you guys and will always try to write
amazing books for you!
