Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never to fond of Books.

It's the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven't seen the "New Releases" shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may or not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog; or if you don't have a blog at all you can use the comments to tell us about a book your remember fondly.

And NOW! We’re expanding! Throwback Thursday is no longer limited to just books! Throwback Thursday is dedicated to shining the spotlight on any book-related old favorites that need to be remembered.What’s your favorite classic television show or movie adaptation? What about your favorite song? Was your favorite toy a character from a book?

My choice this week is one of my favorite movies.

Storyline 

In 1963, Frances "Baby" Houseman, a sweet daddy's girl, goes with her family to a resort in upstate New York's Catskill Mountains. Baby has grown up in privileged surroundings and all expect her to go on to college, join the Peace Corps and save the world before marrying a doctor, just like her father. Unexpectedly, Baby becomes infatuated with the camp's dance instructor, Johnny Castle, a man whose background is vastly different from her own. Baby lies to her father to get money to pay for an illegal abortion for Johnny's dance partner. She then fills in as Johnny's dance partner and it is as he is teaching her the dance routine that they fall in love. It all comes apart when Johnny's friend falls seriously ill after her abortion and Baby gets her father, who saves the girl's life. He then learns what Baby has been up to, who with and worse - that he funded the illegal abortion...

My thoughts 

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I have such fond memories of this movie. I think I was ten when my mom was watching it on TV late one night and I wan't sleepy. She told me I wasn't old enough so from that day I begged her to let me watch it I think it was a year later she did and I've been hooked ever since. I just love everything about this movie dancing, music and romance. I had the VHS copy that I wore out and had to get a second copy of as a teen. Then I got a DVD copy which was later kidnapped by my sister. I picked up another DVD copy which I had till my hubby got m the blue ray copy I have now. I even made him sit down and watch it with me last week. It's one of the two movies I own I could watch over and over. You'll have to wait till next week to see what the other is.
