Trained as an elite fighter and educated in the ways of the elves, Nuriel "Rie" Lhéthannien has worked decades to be accepted into the High Court messenger service. It's a simple enough occupation, but in a realm where humans are treated as little better than slaves, it's a position she'll do anything to protect.

On a routine delivery in the Human Realm, Rie is attacked by assassins from the enemy Shadow Realm and framed as a traitor. Facing execution at the hand of an unmerciful king, she evades capture and crosses the portal into enemy lands to prove her innocence.

Surprising allies arise from the shadows, assisting her search and uncovering secrets she didn't know she kept. With the risk of discovery lurking at every turn, Rie must use every weapon in her arsenal to uncover the truth behind the attack. If she fails, death will be the least of her worries.

Featuring a lowly human caught between two great faerie realms, a dark elf prince with unnatural fire magic, a blood sidhe merchant’s son with ambitions beyond business, and a mischievous swarm of pixies, Sanyare: The Last Descendant is a New Adult coming of age adventure you won't want to put down.

My Review (Here)

Review
I received Sanyare: The Last Descendant in return for an honest review from the author. I just finished the prequel Pixie Tamer which is a little story about how Rie came to be in the company of Pixies. Trained by her warden to fight she can protect herself being a just human in an elf world. Working hard has earned her a job as a High Court messenger sending her between different realms. On a routine trip to the human Realm she’s attacked on the beach by assassins with the help of her pixies and new ability she survives the attack. However any encounters with the Shadow Realm instantly mark her as a traitor but Lord Garamaen has a plan to send her into the Shadow Realm to prove her innocents.

Knowing it’s her only chance to clear her name Rie heads off into the Shadow Realm fearing the worst after all the stories she’s been told. Her first encounter is into the Shadow Realm ends up with her walking into a blood bar where she’s the desired donor. After proving she’s not going to be thrilled Rie finds an unlikely friend who leads her to the Crossroad inn where she should be able to find some information. Instead she finds the prince and leader of the Shadow Guard who might just be able to help her find who ordered her assassination and what they are plotting.

I love Rie she’s a smart girl who was raising in a world that humans are treated as slaves but when she comes to the Shadow Realm she learns that maybe that’s not the only way. I wasn’t sure about Braegan at first but he grew on me as the book went. However I instantly saw Daenor as a perfect match for Rie which she may not have seen at first either. I loved the pixies and the imp they are perfect supporting characters who just enhanced the story.

I’ve had Sanyare: The Last Descendant on my to read pile for a while but haven’t gotten around to it till now and boy was I missing out. A fast paced action packed novel that mixes fantasy with the modern day world creating an intricate and captivating story. The characters are well developed it was easy for me to connect with Rie she’s defiantly stolen a piece of my heart. The writing style is well written it flows from start to finish captivating my imagination till the very end. I admit I would love to get a look at Turant in the flesh because he’s a combination of two of my favorite creatures and I’m curious if I got it all right. I honestly enjoyed every moment of the book it’s beautifully and I couldn’t put it down except when real life got in the way. I’m really hoping this isn’t the last of Rie because I’m not ready to say goodbye to her or her new friends. A truly perfect way to start off the new year with an amazing new book by a new author.
