Review

I've had Skinwalker on the shelf for years just didn't have time when I got it and then it was lost in the shelves. Jane is a skinwalker meaning she can turn into any creature she wants but typical is a puma. Jane is a Cherokee descendant who has no memories prior to being found scared at the age of 12. She shares her body with Beast the puma but doesn't understand why. She’s also a vampire hunter with a trendy website and everything but doesn't share very much info about herself. Jane is hired by Katie a vampire to hunt a rogue before things get bad in the local media drawing negative attention to the vampires.

It’s when Jane learns that the rogue not only kills and drinks it’s victims but also eats there oranges a liver eater. After her first hunt using Beasts form she learns that it’s rotting, which doesn't happen for a vampire. As she dives deeper into finding the rogue she learns that it’s like her not just a vampire but can change shape at will. Jane starts having encounters with the powerful vampires one in particular helps return a memory from her past. As more secrets about her past are uncovered she learns more about the rogue she’s hunting. Will she find the rogue or be too late.

I’ve been torn about giving Jane a chance and I feel bad about that. I’m a die-hard Mercy Thompson fan so I was a little unsure if Jane could live up to my expectations. However she surprised me, she’s unique, Kick-ass- in every way, and plus she has Beast. Jane is a unique twist on the shapeshifter concept that I found intriguing. I found myself connecting with Jane for example her Tea obsession is just like me. I love a girl who cares more about doing her job then the men reminds me a lot of young Anita Blake which I love.

I’m annoyed with myself that I didn't start this series sooner it’s exactly what I've been looking for. I love a kick-ass-heroin who’s all about the story not so much the men in her life or lack of. Skinwalker is a unique concept that captures the imagination right from the start. A fast paced story that is filled with things that go bump in the night, sexy men, blood, mystery, action, and Jane. What can I say I love the main character she’s my ideal character when it comes to picking out a book. I loved all the twists and turns as we learn more about Jane’s past. I think the author did a brilliant job creating the start of an exciting must read urban fantasy series. I really enjoyed the book even though real life wouldn't let me read non-stop. I've already picked up the next couple of eBooks intent on getting to them in the near future. I can see anyone who has a thing for the paranormal enjoying the series, even teens as well as adults I know I would have as a teen. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the series.
5 out of 5 stars
