Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday October 8th 2013

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

~Grab your current read
~Open to a random page
~Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on the page
~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! ( make sure that what you share doesn't give away too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)
~Share the title & author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

 I'm currently reading

Hunted: Cycle Thirteen: Book 1
by Jill Kaelin
(Goodreads)

My teaser

Forcing my legs to move me forward, I nervously approached him. I decided that I needed to act cool and pretend that the mere sight of him didn’t make my heart do somersaults. You can do this, just relax, I told myself over and over again. I smiled at him as I reached my locker. He flashed his pearly white teeth as I tried desperately to steady my hand while I played with the combination lock, which for some reason I couldn’t remember the code for. Was it twenty-two, ten, thirty?
“So, I was wondering if you would like to take a walk with me?” he asked in that velvety voice.
“Are you seriously going to skip classes on your first day here?” I asked, trying to sound as if I didn’t care what he did.
“Yeah, I guess you have a point,” he replied, sounding as if I’d just knocked the wind out of him.

Good. Maybe now he’ll start to realize that I’m not interested. If only that were true. I focused on my lock again. “I have to get to second period and I can’t be late. Is there anything else you needed, directions maybe?” I shrugged my shoulders and diverted my eyes to the inside of my locker, which finally opened. I knew if I stole a look at his handsome face, I’d change my mind and skip my acting class to be with him.

What's your teaser today?
