Review
I received Permanent Shadows in return for an honest review from the author. The story starts not long after the first book Oath of Servitude.  Cailin has returned from visiting with her family which ended up causing more problems and bringing to light new enemies. She is once again living with Teague and Owen as her part of the oath she is serving.  While she was gone Teague has called his ex-girlfriend inviting her out to spend some time which she jumped at the chance to do. Cailin isn't thrilled with the idea of having to share her space with her least of all Teague. When they learn that MacKenzie has been possessed by the Mazikeen it becomes clear they need to let Cailin’s father know what happened.

While Cailin is gone things haven’t gone great with her clan, her sisters are dealing what happened when she last returned home. Cailin also has a visit from Sariel who has been in love with her forever and even gotten a promise to be his from Cailin even though she’s in love with Teague. Teague also learns secrets about who Owen really is and who he is. Someone is going on in the clan and Cailin is going to have to figure it out. Will she be able to save her clan before it’s too late?

I like Cailin as a character she’s smart, stubborn and easy to connect with. She’s stuck in a situation that wouldn't be ideal for anyone but her, and she’s embraced it. I like Teague as a potential for Cailin over Sariel I just don’t like him. I really like that Cailin has grown as a character from who she started out as in the first book Oath of Servitude. Permanent Shadows reveals new challenges, forgotten secrets and new hurdles for the characters to overcome.

I really enjoyed Oath of Servitude so of course I jumped at the chance to read Permanent Shadows. The author has taken the idea of Pixies and put her own unique spin creating an intriguing story. The story is captivating right from the start, filled with action, adventure, evil pixies, suspense and just the right about of romance. I love all the twist and turns woven into the story it’s one of those stories that keeps you on the edge of your seat with anticipation of what will happen next. The author has done a beautiful job written a story that flows from start to finish I actually sat down in one evening reading most of the book well tell I couldn’t stay away any longer only to wake up first thing to finish. Even though I hate cliffhangers I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. Another fantastic installment in The Punishment Sequence. This series is clean so teens as well as adults will be enthralled with the characters and story.

5 out of 5 stars
