But her blissful life doesn't last long. When her ex boyfriend is found poisoned with cupcakes from her bakery, Lexy finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation headed up by her hunky neighbor detective Jack Perillo.

With the help of a gang of iPad toting, would-be detective grandmothers, Lexy decides to take it upon herself to find the real murderer in order to clear her name and get her bakery back in business.

As things heat up on the murder trail, in the kitchen and between Lexy and the hunky detective, it's a race against time to put the real murderer behind bars and get back to baking.

Will Lexy get her man?

Review

I picked up Killer Cupcakes as a kindle freebie and like most they typically sit on my TBR list forever last night before bed I figured I'd read a short mystery before I jump into my next big book. Lexy Baker is living with her dog Sprinkles in her grandmothers how now that she's moved into a assisted living place. Everything is great for Lexy she has her dream business a bakery, she can eat anything she wants without gaining a ounce and she loves shoes. What more could a girl ask for?

When Sprinkles ducks though the fence between the neighbor Lexy has no choice but to chase after her even if it's in her pj's only to find her using the neighbors flowerbed as bathroom. Thankfully Lexy is prepared but she's not prepared for the neighbor to catch her in the act of picking up poo, worse she finds him attractive.

The next day Lexy is shocked to learn that her ex-boyfriend whom she's not seen in over two years is dead, because of eating her cake tops. Lexy is at the top of the suspects list with the help of her neighbor who happens to be a cop, her grandma's friends at the home just maybe she can find the real killer.

Killer Cupcakes is a fun entertaining mystery, though short it doesn't lack in story-line  I almost stayed up super late reading but opted for a few pages before I decided to finish it off first thing this morning. Killer Cupcakes is a fast paced story the keeps you drawn in till the last page so it's easy to lose yourself however it's only 89 pages which for some like me is a good thing. I love the characters Lexy is great plus she has her grandmother who is in her own little ladies mystery group and who doesn't love a cute cop. I kind of want a little yappy dog named Sprinkles now at least that's what I told my hubby this morning he just ignored me since our next dog is going to be a big malamute maybe she will be Sprinkles. The other thing I liked is that the author gives us a recipe for Lexy's cake tops which I plan to try the next time I make they sounds yummy plus I want to know what all the fuss about them is.
