From the Review Pile

From the Review Pile November 8th 2012

From the Review Pile is a meme hosted by Stepping Out of the Page every Thursday.
The aim of this meme is to showcase books that you've received for review (or if you don't receive review books, any book that you own and really want to read/review) but haven't yet got around to reading, in order to give the book some extra publicity.

I know that a lot of you have a huge pile of books that you want to read/review, but it understandably takes a while to get around to reading them all - here you can give a book (or two!) some of the publicity that it deserves, even if you haven't read it yet!

I stumbled across this one this evening and thought it was a great idea and would love to it to my regular line up. So the real question was which book did I want to give a little extra publicity too.

So I've decided to do two books this week. One from my physical TBR list and one from my e-book TBR list. I read a lot of review books, more then what I call fun books, so my TBR shelves are getting out of control as I continue to make zero room on them.

I've been dying to read this one since it first came out but never got around to picking up a copy till a few weeks ago now I see it every day teasing me because I've got review books to read.

Physical Book

Katana
by Cole Gibsen
Young Adult Fantasy
(Goodreads)

Synopsis

Skater girl or supernatural samurai? Rileigh Martin wants to believe that adrenaline gave her the strength to fend off three muggers in the mall parking lot. But adrenaline doesn't explain the voice in her head giving her battle tips and warnings.

While worrying that she's going crazy (always a reputation ruiner), Rileigh gets a visit from Kim, a handsome martial arts instructor, who tells Rileigh she's harboring the spirit of a five-hundred-year-old samurai warrior.

Relentlessly attacked by ninjas, Rileigh has no choice but to master the katana--a deadly Japanese sword that's also the key to her past. As the spirit grows stronger and her feelings for Kim intensify, Rileigh is torn between continuing as the girl she's always been and embracing the warrior inside her.

I've been dying to read this one since it first came out but never got around to picking up a copy till a few weeks ago now I see it every day teasing me because I've got review books to read. I even snagged the second one on netgalley I really need to read this one first.

E-Book

Dollhouse
by Anya Allyn
Fantasy Paranormal
(Goodreads)

Synopsis

Fifteen year old Aisha disappears in the forests on a school hiking trip. She's the latest in a string of children to vanish there over the past five years. The towns surrounding the forests are on edge and they demand answers. And wildboy Ethan—Aisha's boyfriend—is on the run after he and his grandfather are blamed for Aisha's disappearance.

Cassie is just about the only friend Ethan has left. She's been secretly in love with him ever since her mother dragged her to the wilds of Australia from Florida six months ago.

Desperate to prove Ethan's innocence, Cassie searches the forests with Ethan to find out what really happened to Aisha. But Ethan's growing strangely silent, and Cassie's left questioning if her feelings for him are clouding her judgment.

Cassie discovers a dark secret lurking in the heart of the forests; a secret world of nightmarish horrors—where nothing is as it seems, where the supernatural invades your soul, where the people she trusted most might be the people she can trust the least, and where escape exists only in dreams.

I picked this one up a week or so ago as a kindle freebie it sounds awesome and with it's new cover it's so beautiful I can't wait to read it.
