Synopsis
Looking out through his patio window Wes noticed summer was coming to an end and the leaves were starting to show off their fall colors. Today he planned to relax with his eighty-pound tri-color smooth coat collie, Oz. They were attending what was the last big car show of the summer hosted by the local GMC Jimmy Club. Classic car enthusiasts would come from all over the valley and neighboring states with hopes of leaving the show with one of the coveted handcrafted metal trophies. It had always been a dream of Wes to add one of these special trophies to his trophy case. Then he would have two.
He turned the ignition key and the “Bird” his 1958 Thunderbird came to life, its deep rumble shook the garage walls. No car show adventure would be complete without first stopping by Betty’s “Whole Bakery Experience”. She had the best apple fritters in the valley for Wes and some of her treats she makes for her four legged customers like Oz.
Little did Wes know that by the end of the day he would again be called upon to investigate a murder at the park. This time however, it would be personal. He would have to prove the innocence of one of his buddies and keep him from the clutches of a young D.A who was out to prove himself. With each passing day time was running out for Wes to bring the real killer to justice. With the blessing from Marti, the love of his life, and with Oz by his side for protection he must follow a trail of embezzlement, twisted love affairs and the usual back stabbing club politics. Hopefully Wes’s keen investigative abilities will put the true killer (s) behind bars.

Review
Wes is a private investigator who works on fraud cases for the state and insurance case he doesn't solve murders....except when his friend was murdered. After solving two murders and finding himself almost joining the victims Marti is determined his time solving murders is over. She's even changed up her work to keep her close to home because she worries too much being gone all the time flying.
It all happened so fast it was just your everyday car show and suddenly Donovan is up on murder charges for killing the president of the Jimmy club. Marti is determined that Wes will find the real killer and clear Donovans name she's even going to help with the investigation. Determined to help their friend Wes sets out to find out what really happened learning that the Jimmy club is a mess and everyone has a motive.
This one was hard to put down because it was one of our own up for murder and in the last few books we've gotten to know Donovan and I kind love his personality but maybe he is a killer. I would have bet the farm on this one I was so sure I had it figured out it all made sense in my head but of the three this one through me the biggest curve. I didn't see it coming and talk about a book hangover. I can't wait for the next one to come out as I'm addicted to the captivating story and lovable characters. One of the best series I've read in a long time, and i'm not a murder mystery fan at all. Love them!!!
