Sometimes Justice Needs a Hand
Murder and intrigue headline in Las Vegas. The glitz and glamour of Sin City hide a dark underbelly of greed and corruption. When an innocent falls to her death from the top of the Bellagio, Raja and Vinny are summoned to find out why.
After Raja goes undercover at the casino and Vinny tracks down a drug operation the death toll mounts, putting them both in the crosshairs of a cold-blooded killer.
Neither the dark, tragic anti-hero nor the James Bond super-hero type, Raja Williams is a wealthy Oxford-educated PI of mixed Caribbean descent who possesses a strong empathic power and a sixth sense for evil that gives him headaches and steers him straight into trouble. His partner Vinny Moore is a gorgeous hipster geek who prefers hacking computers to haute couture.
Book five in the Raja Williams mystery series has it all -- murder, mystery, love and non-stop fun. As with all the books in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone novel or in sequence.
Review
I received Muerte en Las Vegas in return for an honest
review from the author. When the daughter of a prominent lawyer from Colorado
is found dead having fallen off the hotel Bellagio her murder quickly turns
into a smear campaign to hide the truth. When Raja get’s the call he and Vinny
head off to sin city to clear her name and find out what really happened.
Arriving in Las Vegas reveals her death goes a lot deeper than just a murder
but it’s involving drugs, a sheik’s nephew, political corruption and even human
trafficking.
With Vinny taking lead on the case Raja infiltrates the
hotel as a blackjack dealer hoping to gain a little more info about the
blackmail and what’s really going on in the hotel. Things aren’t all work while
in Las Vegas when Raja finds himself falling for a beautiful dancer who happens
to work in the same hotel he’s undercover in. As Vinny works with the local
cops she finds herself working hard to give physical proof to the cops what’s
really going on since it’s all on her computer system. It’s when following the
drugs that she finally gets the chance that she needed but ends up almost
falling to her death. Raja also set’s up his own sting in the hotel but things
turn horribly wrong revealing his true identity. Will the duo be able to clear
Kristen’s name and bring the bad guys to justice?
I love Raja and Vinny they are by far my favorite detective
duo. While Raja happens to be the main character it’s Vinny who’s evolved into
more than just the computer girl as she takes lead with the detective at the
police department. It was interesting seeing Raja’s roll as an undercover
blackjack dealer he made the transition go smoothly. I love that both
characters have progressed each getting better as the series goes.
I’ve been eagerly looking forward to diving into the
newest Raja Williams novel since it’s the only detective series that I’ve been
reading as it’s the best. Raja and Vinny while private investigators aren’t
your typical duo they both bring unique gifts to the partnership and work well
together. I can’t deny that I would love to see the duo in a romantic
relationship but not if it would ruin the great work that they do. In this installment
our duo has traveled off to Las Vegas catching the attention of a deep dark
cover up in the Las Vegas underworld. Another fast paced installment that I had
a hard time putting down, because I just had to know how it was going to play
out. I really enjoy the way that Raja and Vinny work they are passionate about
what they do risking their own lives just to get to the truth. This book has
loads of action, suspense and enough mystery that I wasn’t sure how it was
going to play out to the very end but it’s beautifully executed. Another
brilliantly written installment in the Raja Williams series. I highly recommend
that you check it out because the author is an amazing storyteller. I can’t
wait to read the next one.
