I received A Little Blackmail in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by Prism Book Tours. Janet just wants her cat back, when Matt refused to give her back her cat she takes it into her own hands. On a dark night dressed in black Janet scales the walls of the house intent on rescuing her baby but didn’t expect to be caught by Matt. When Matt threatens to call the cops for her breaking in but he offers her a chance to work it off pretending to be his wife. Determined to get her cat back Janet agrees to pretend to be Vanessa knowing when the chance arises she will grab her cat and run.
As Janet gets pulled deeper into Matt’s lies she can’t help that she finds him attractive. She just hasn’t figured out what he’s really doing visiting Mavis when clearly he’s doesn’t seem to care about his missing wife Vanessa. After a trip down the river Janet is finding herself falling in love with the man who refuses to tell her what he’s really after. Will Janet ever get her cat back? Will she find the truth about what Matt is really doing at Mavis’s?
I loved Janet right from the start because she is willing to risk it all even to break the law to get her cat back. I like that Janet is a character that feels real, she’s had loss in her life but she’s learned to move on. I knew right off the bat that Matt was perfect for Janet he just has to win her over and not scare her away. Since the series takes place in Destiny Bay we had a few recurring characters as well as a few new ones.
A little Blackmail is based on the lives of people from Destiny Bay with one family in particular. This story revolves around Janet who spent her whole life living in Destiny Bay as well as the Matt who also is from the area but grew up in boarding schools and summer camps. I really loved the characters they were easy to connect and I was drawn into their story. A found the book to be a quick read it was hard to put down I had to know what would happen next to Janet and Matt. I like that the story had romance as well as a little mystery woven in to enhance the story. The book is well written it flows from start to finish, and it’s clean so teens as well as adults will enjoy. I have to admit I prefer clean romance novels so this one was exactly what I look for in a romance novel. I don’t know what I would do but I think I want to move to Destiny Bay it sounds like the play to be with a little cottage near the water. I’m looking forward to starting the next book in the series because it's one of my favorites.

These are basically the same stories...but with the conflicts softened a bit, the language cleaned up, and no explicit love scenes. There are still a few adult situations, but they're muted. Consider these the PG versions.
