Synopsis
Abi Saunders might be a kickboxing champion, but when it comes to being the center of attention, she’d rather take a roundhouse kick to the solar plexus any day. So when her trainer convinces her to audition to be the stunt double for hot teen starlet Tilly Watson, Abi is shocked—and a little freaked out—when she gets the job.
Being a stunt double is overwhelming, but once the wig and makeup are on, Abi feels like a different person. Tilly Watson, to be exact. And when Tilly’s gorgeous boyfriend, Jon, mistakes Abi for the real star, Abi's completely smitten. In fact, she’s so in love with her new life, it isn’t long before she doesn’t have time for her old one.
But when the cameras are turned off, will she discover running with the Hollywood A-list isn’t quite the glamorous existence she thought it was?
Review
I received Will The Real Abi Saunders Please Stand Up? In return
for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by YA Bound. Abi may not be
good when it comes to talking to people after all she’s been bullied most of
her life for having a stutter, and she’s worked hard to overcome it. Abi has
worked hard training in the art of Kickboxing she’s even gotten really good
winning titles and becoming one of her instructors star students. When the
chance comes up for Abi to audition as a stunt double for one of her favorite
actresses she’s less than thrilled. When her best friends Liz and Matt push her
into she takes the chance finding that she could be exactly what they are
looking for.
When Abi gets the call that she got the part everything
starts to change. Soon she is learning new abilities like flying with wires and
riding a motorcycle. However it’s lots of hard work not all fun in games but
she’s enjoying it for the most part aside from the fact that the actress she is
doing the stunts for isn’t very nice. Tilly even uses Abi’s stutter as a way to
pick on her but quickly Abi learns that Tilly’s life hasn’t been so great
either. When Tilly’s boyfriend Jon shows up on the set and he starts paying
attention to Abi she can’t deny the attraction even if he is Tilly’s boyfriend.
Yet he may not be good for her because she blows off her best friend’s party,
and even ends up in New York pretending to be Tilly.
I liked Abi she’s a
kick ass character literally who took her stutter and found an outlet that she
loved. Abi isn't perfect she makes mistakes but she learns from them which I feel was important. I liked her friend Liz and Matt they are the kind of friends that
everyone should have. I didn’t like Jon right from the start maybe it’s the
fact he had a girlfriend and was still flirting with Abi.
I knew the moment I saw the cover I just had to read Will The Real Abi Saunders Please Stand Up? Is a captivating
story with a unique concept where the main character a trained kick boxer who
takes on a roll of stunt double in a movie. I found the whole idea new and fascinating
I just had to know what would happen to Abi next. I actually finished the book
in one evening while the hubby watched boring baseball. I enjoyed the
characters I had a few moments where I was wanting to scream at Abi but aside
from that I really connected with her. I had high hopes for Abi right from the
start and while she’s flawed which made her feel real she improved and got
better as the book progressed. I feel like the author did a great job with the
writing of the book it flows along, doesn't feel rushed or sluggish like other
books. It’s honestly an enjoyable story that I can see myself reading again,
maybe even another book about Abi. This is my first book by the author but I think she delivered a great story and look forward to checking out her other books.
