Synopsis
Since the car crash that took her father’s life two years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left...his soul.

Review
I received this book in return for a honest review from Netgalley. This is the story of Finn a reaper who is in love with Emma a girl he was supposed to reap two years ago. Two years ago Emma lost her father in a car crash and since that day she's been in and out of a mental hospital because of her dreams. Finn since finding Emma has been watching over here protecting her from an evil girl that he released on her.

Seventeen years ago Finn stole the second chance at a new life from Maeve another soul when Emma at the Alison was going to be send into the shadowlands. Maeve is left to wonder the earth a soul doomed to end up in the shadowlands after her soul turns to shadow. Alison starts her life over as Emma unknown about the past, Finn or Maeve. Finn doesn’t know where Alison is until he is sent to reap Emma when she dies in a car crash. Instead of reaping her, and taking her to the inbetween, where he brings the souls he’s collected. He leaves her soul, instead helping save her life, because he loves her, and doesn’t want to lose her for good. As fate would have it he unintentionally leading Maeve right to her.

Over the next two years Finn watches over Emma protecting her from a vengeful Maeve who wants to claim the life she should have had all along. Finn can't let anything happen to Emma even though reapers are to have no contact with the human except when they reap them. Finn goes against all the rules for love, ending up in deeper trouble them he can imagine. But who wouldn't give it all up for the one they love.

This book has a inviting cover and the synopsis sounds great I just had to give it a shot. I love the idea of soulmates and loves that transcend time, so of course this story had me at the start. I love the characters Emma is so sweet, and fits the whole girl next door, plus she's had a hard couple of years but keeps going strong.I felt connected with her the loss of a parent to a car crash, dealing with the dreams of her past that she doesn't remember. Plus who doesn't love Finn, he's a former fight pilot who's a good guy just stuck in the wrong job, and reminds me a lot of my hubby. The characters are well developed that you feel like you know them, and can relate to the challenges in the story. I even liked the supporting characters like Cash, Anaya and Easton. I really enjoyed reading this book, it gave me everything I needed to be a great loves story. I love the reaper and soul aspect of the story because sometimes loves isn't simple and sometimes you have to do something you don't want to for love.  I look forward to reading more about the characters and what hinted at to come in the next book.
