Review

I received Eden’s Root in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by AToMR Tours. Fi Kelly’s world is spinning out of control at a rapid pace. People all over the world are getting sick with cancers dying at early ages. She lost her young brother when she was little and now her father has developed the cancer as well. It’s with his upcoming death he reveals the truth to Fi hoping that she will be able to protect her little sister even though she’s still a child herself.  Her father tells her that she needs to learn to fight, how to hunt, to survive on the land on food that hasn't been poisoned by the chemicals that are making everyone sick. He also tells her that she needs to head north for Eden where the government has set up a place that will survive on its own.

As a thirteen year old girl Fi does as her father asks learning to shoot a bow, then a gun, training to fight but she couldn't leave her family like her father told her. As it gets closer to the time when she will need to flee with her sister and mother she tells her best friend bringing Sean into the training. Together the pair learns to fight and survive. When the time comes both families flee into the forests as the government locks up the food stores sending people into a panic all over the world. As Fi and Sean lead their family through the forest heading for Eden they encounter new people who join the family becoming a stronger family unit. It’s up to Fi and Sean to raid the smaller towns for supply’s to keep their little family fed.

It’s a year after everything happened that Fi and Sean head off to New York for one final raid that will tide them off as their family heads for Eden after the winter. While in New York Sean is taken by a gang beaten but Fi show’s up to help him get away only be have another gang attack them. With the help of the first gang’s leader Asher the trio are able to escape New York with their supplies also adding another member to their family. Sean sense the connection between Fi and Asher he’s filled with anger and jealousy but he learns to accept it. As they set out for Eden along the way Fi and her little sister have to say goodbye to their mother who has been ill with the cancers.  Will their family make it to Eden? Does Eden really exist?

Wow, I’m so impressed with Eden’s Root. I’ve been addicted to the Dystopia genre for a while now and Eden’s root’s been on my TBR list forever so when the chance to read both of them came up I couldn't pass up the opportunity and I’m glad I didn't  Fi’s adventure from little girl to warrior who protects her growing family is inspiring dealing with heartache and a budding romance is magical. I love Fi as a character she’s tasked with a challenge that sounds daunting to me but she did everything in her power to protect them all. I found the story is beautifully written in such detail I felt that I was really with Fi cheering her on throughout the whole book. I love the relationships that Fi has with her family, they may not be blood but the way she connects with each one is special. I just really loved Fi as a character she’s pushed her way to the top as my favorite. I just really loved everything about the book; it’s stolen a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to see what happens next thankfully I have the copy on my kindle ready to go or I’d be lost.

5 out of 5 stars

Bio

I am a wife and entrepreneur living and working in Florida. I am also a graduate of Mount Holyoke College, where I majored in Biology. It was always my assumption that I would end up making research my life. Though it did not work out that way in the end, my passion for Biology remains intact.

I have always loved biology-based science-fiction and the young adult genre. It is in this vein that I offer my work.
