Review
The Scorch Trials is the second installment in the Maze Runner series. The boy’s and Theresa have just escaped the maze even losing some on the way but at last they should be free but Wicked has other plans for them. The group is informed that they have been infected with the flare, that they must travel north 100 miles in order to get the cure in the next two weeks or they will turn into a crank just like those they will encounter on the journey. Theresa has gone missing Thomas has no idea where to find her but has no choice but to go with the gladers into the hot scorching sun if they want to survive.

After escaping the maze Thomas has a lot to process including the fact that a second group was also locked in the maze of all girls and one boy. While Thomas’s thought don’t drift much from finding her and when he encounters her in the scorch he’s relieved to find her alive even if she’s not willing to join them yet. As the gladers get closer to the town the encounter a killer lightning storm that diminishes their numbers only to deliver them in to the hands of the Cranks they are hoping to avoid. Will they be able to escape the cranks? What if the cranks aren’t what they really thought they were? Will Thomas’s true identity change everything?

I like Thomas he’s loyal to his friends even willing to risk his life to save them but he can’t let Theresa go even when a new girl enters the scene. We don’t see so much for the Glader’s in this book because the story revolves around Thomas’s adventure with the gladers as well as the cranks. Thomas even catches the attention of Brenda a crank who isn’t as far gone as the others. Will Thomas be able to make it work with either girl?

I haven’t read the first book because my hubs pushed me to read it before the movie. I ended up watching the movie while he gave me a play by play of what was different so I would be ready to go. I wasn’t sure what to expect I enjoyed the movie so I had high expectations for the book with the upcoming movie just around the corner.  The Scorch Trials is a dystopian world set in the future the concept is interesting and well executed it was hard to put down I wanted to know more about what Wicked was doing to the gladers. The characters are easy to connect with I found myself connection with Thomas the most he’s just one of those characters you can’t help liking. I enjoyed the story It’s a fast paced action packed novel that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat till the very end. I’m curious to see how it plays out in the next book which I’m sure I’ll be reading with the husband.
