Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday!
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke And The Brookish. Who doesn't love lists. They make life easy! And fun!! It's always a never ending topic.

This week's topic:
Top ten Tuesday from our childhood/teen years we'd like to revisit

I spent a lot of time reading growing up even had a bit of insomnia that I used to my advantage to stay up all night reading.

1. The Black Stallion Series by Walter Farley ~ This is one of my favorite series growing at as a kid. I've read it many time and seen the movies a ton. I've picked up most of the set with plans of reading them all over.

2. Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene - I've read most if not all of them as a kid. I would love to pick them up in the classic yellow cover set. Nancy is who sparked my love of mysteries.

3. Little House on the Prairie Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder - My grandmother watched the show and read the books with us growing up. I have such fond memories of reading the series and it's been so long maybe I need to again.

YA horror authors I grew up with and loved.

4. Christopher Pike Novels - I read all of his books as a young teen even reading them over and over a few times. Over the years I still have many of his books and this year I'm planning on reading them over. Well my favorites like his vampire series but I haven't read the most current books I just didn't love the idea that the stories continued.

5. R.L. Stine. - I never finished all of his books but I did have a few of my favorites. I even still have old copies of them. I've seen he's rebooting Fear street so I thought it would be a good time to read them again.

6. Richie Tankersley Cusick - I have all of my favorites of her. I just loved how her horror novels ended with a romance twist. One of my favorites as a kid.

Adult Novels I read as a teen
7. Betty Neels - I've read all but a few of her classic Harlequin novels those I haven't been able to get my hands on yet. As a teen growing up my grandmother shared these with me and sparked my love of Harlequin novels.

8.  Jurassic Park & Lost World by Michael Crichton - I read these with my dad they are still to this day one of my all time favorite series. I wish he hadn't passed away so young we very well may have had a new book. With the new movie this summer I plan to read them again.

9. Anne McCaffrey Pern Series. While I'm not current on the series it's one of my favorites as a teenager. I read them over and over countless times.

10. Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton - I read them all many times as a teenager the first 10 than she kind of went off the deep end by the time we got to 17ish and I'm not current. I keep wanting to go back but I haven't been inclined. Anita created my love of urban fantasy she was my first adult paranormal series.

What's on your top ten list this week?

  1. Seems like the Black Stallion is ending up on quite a few lists as are the Little House books. I am glad to see I am not the only one who read adult books as a teen - of course I bet a lot have. Enjoyed reading your list.

  2. I never read the Nancy Drew books when I was younger. I don't know why, I would have loved them. I love that type of book now and it's like early Veronica Mars. I read a lot of fantasy as a kid (and still as an adult!). I actually haven't read any Christopher Pike books (shockingly). I was in high school when they were first coming out, but I was mostly reading adult books when I was in high school...NOW I read mostly YA. Go figure! Great list!

  3. OOoh nice! Lots of Nancy Drew today! I read a little of those books but never got too far into them. I am pretty sure I read one of Cusick's books...The House Next Door, I think? Something like that! Remember it was pretty cool!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. Great list. I loved The Black Stallion series when I was a kid, and I went through a phase in elementary school where I was obsessed with Goosebumps.
