Synopsis

It was a rough start to the school year for Shayna and her friends, Jodi and Steven, but thankfully summer break is near. Trying to sort out her feelings for the new guy in town, Shayna agrees to let Jensen join her on a group date with her friends. While out they end up at a local coffee house where their classmate, social outcast Jeremy McCormick, is humiliated by his baseball star brother. When Jeremy runs away from the jeering crowd, Shayna and Jodi hear the unmistakable sound of a thousand wings chasing after him, but no one else seems to hear them. These are not like any air elementals that Shayna or Jodi have ever encountered before and they fear Jeremy has gotten himself tangled up in something too dangerous for him to handle. But when Shayna tries to help Jeremy control his magical abilities she realizes it might be the biggest mistake of her life.

Review

I received this book as part of the YA Bound Book TourThe Shayna, Jodi and Steven are back for a new adventure in Air. Shayna hasn't figure out how she feels about Jensen but he agreed to date her and join her friends. They catch one of their classmates Jeremy McCormick being tormented by his brother, and when he runs away upset they hear the sound of thousands of tiny wings. Which causes them to suspect that Jeremy might have gotten into something to over his head. When Shayna confronts him he tosses her over a balcony in anger and reveals his connection to fairies. Shayna is confronted by a the fairy princess who warns her about something coming.

The police arrest Jeremy after the attack on Shayna, and the trio sweet talks the police into letting Shayna. She speaks to him through a phone, learning what's really going on but Jeremy is a suspicious guy who starts to question her reasoning for wanting to befriend him and goes into a rage destroying the phone and having to be sedated. Jeremy escapes from the police station and starts to cause havoc on the city he attacks his brother, after being tortured in the past by them. The trio needs to protect their friends as well as Jeremy's father because he's angry and gotten himself into a mess.

I enjoyed Air as much as I did Earth I was really happy to see that Shayna has taken the chance to get to know Jensen and that they are giving dating a chance. I was hoping for a little more about Jodi since she is after all the air elemental but I wasn't disappointed by the story. Like the first it sucks your attention in till you hit the last page leaving you wanting more. Which is exactly what I look for in a book if it can't hold my attention while I noise going on in the background and my mind racing a mile a minute then odds are I won't be able to finish it. I found the connection between the main characters Shayna, Jodi, Steven and now Jensen holds the story together. Without them working together I it wouldn't be as great of a story. Like with the first one I love all the elemental magic and other super natural creatures that crop up in the books. Even though it's a fast paced story that draws you in right from the start the seriousness it broken with a little humor spread in the mix. Overall it's a great series I can't wait to get my hands on the next one. Good thing I've got it loaded on my kindle and ready to go.
