Synopsis
Vampire.

Ember Perry hates the word. It makes her feel like some kind of teenage freak. A monster. But she and her family are Healers—their driving desire is to relieve suffering. There’s no denying there is a dark side to the gift of healing, which forces them to hide their abilities, or risk exposing what they really are. But what good is the power to heal, if you’re never allowed to use it to save lives?

Then Ember meets Alex Baxter, and feels a connection with him that touches her soul. She can’t quell the overwhelming urge to save him, regardless of the danger. Soon Ember wonders if she made the right decision. Not only is Alex recovering, but he’s healing at an alarming rate—morphing from a sickly teen into a strapping specimen of manhood in mere weeks, and leaving Ember baffled.

Breaking the rules has consequences, and it isn’t long before Alex is asking questions, and Ember fears the worst. Has she bought one person’s life with the blood of her family, and of the entire Healer tribe?

Opening Line
It had been a bad idea from the start-the kind that leads to terror and bloodshed.
~How can you not what to know what happened

Review
I picked up Tribe when it was a kindle freebie and I’ve been drawn to it since because I love the cover. Ember has a unique gift the ability to heal from little injuries to life terminal diseases. She just can’t do it very often the toll on the body is greater depending on the sickness or injury plus it would draw unwanted attention to her family. Ember avoids sick people because the desire to heal is so strong it’s hard for her to overcome. When pushed by her best friend to go with her to a benefit for terminal cancer boy she doesn’t want to but relents to avoid the boy.

What should have been an easy night out with her friend quickly changes her life when she meets and heals the boy with cancer. Quickly her bloodlust sets in forcing her to resort to drastic measures barely escaping the benefit before it’s too late. Thankfully Jenna is able to get her home where her family gives her enough blood to stabilize her. What should be the end is just beginning when Alex the boy Ember healed finds her and wants to know what’s really going on. Will she be able to convince him to keep her secret?

I picked up Tribe when it was a kindle freebie last year and it’s been on my kindle since. I love the cover it’s the reason I picked up Tribe to start with. The author has created her own unique spin on the vampire concept which I found refreshing and exciting. I enjoyed getting to know Ember and Alex they are easy to connect with and I like how sweet their story is. I found Tribe to be an exciting novel right from the start its action packed and draws the reader into Embers world. However I felt it was just too short that it was lacking. While the concept is great the story has lots of potential it just needed more. I wanted to love Tribe but for me it just fell short but it has potential for greatness. I would love to see the author rework the book it’s a full length novel 118 pages just doesn’t leave enough story.
