Synopsis

Mila 2.0 is the first book in an electrifying sci-fi thriller series about a teenage girl who discovers that she is an experiment in artificial intelligence.

Mila was never meant to learn the truth about her identity. She was a girl living with her mother in a small Minnesota town. She was supposed to forget her past—that she was built in a secret computer science lab and programmed to do things real people would never do.

Now she has no choice but to run—from the dangerous operatives who want her terminated because she knows too much and from a mysterious group that wants to capture her alive and unlock her advanced technology. However, what Mila’s becoming is beyond anyone’s imagination, including her own, and it just might save her life.

Mila 2.0 is Debra Driza’s bold debut and the first book in a Bourne Identity-style trilogy that combines heart-pounding action with a riveting exploration of what it really means to be human. Fans of I Am Number Four will love Mila for who she is and what she longs to be—and a cliffhanger ending will leave them breathlessly awaiting the sequel.

Review

I received Mila 2.0 in return for an honest review from Harper Collins via Edelweiss. Mila has recently lost her father in a terrible fire, and her mom moved them to the quiet Minnesota town of Clearwater. Mila is trying to fit in but it’s not easy, it was just over thirty days ago when her life was changed and even though she’s running with the popular girls fitting in isn’t easy. When a new boy shows up in town all bets are off as both her, and her best friend Kaylee via for Hunters attention.

Unintentionally Mila is the winner which drives a wedge between her relationships with Kaylee. It’s while Kaylee is trying to win Hunter over that Mila experiences an accident in the back of Kaylee’s truck that reveals an even bigger secret. As word gets out her arm isn’t human but a machine she tries to keep it on the down low but upset over Mila stealing Hunter Kaylee sets out to destroy her. It’s when she returns home that her world is changed as the truth of what really happened comes out.

She finds her mom being attacked by several strangers, only to fight them off and escape with her mom. However it’s short lived when they attempt to flee the country to be caught in Canada by her mom’s former employer. Both Mila and her mom are returned to the secret government facility where Mila is introduced to her three who looks just like her but isn’t. She’s put though many tests in hopes of finding out if the emotions worked as an advantage or if they make her defective. Mila will have to find to save both her life as well as her mothers.

Wow! I knew going into the story exactly what to expect. I’ve read the synopsis a zillion times while waiting to get my hands on the book. I love Mila she’s one of my favorite android characters. I admit I’ve only read a few but she’s stolen my heart right from the beginning because she’s dealing with the loss of her dad as well as dealing with a new start. That can only be tough but she handles it well, better than I would have. I also really love the scientist who Mila looks to as her mother. When faced with the chance of having to eliminate Mila she risks everything to save her life.  I found the story captivating I had a hard time putting Mila down even when it came time for bed if not for having gotten little sleep I would have pulled an all-night to finish. I think the concept is brilliant Debra Driza creates an amazing story that just makes you want more. The story-line is intense filled with action and suspense that keep you on the edge of your seat till the very end. I’m dying for the next one but I know it’s in the works and I’m willing to wait. I honestly really enjoyed Mila 2.0 one of my favorites of the year. I love the cover I think it’s one of the more beautiful covers.

5 out of 5 Stars
