Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

This one has a interesting cover. I like the sound of it too.

My Choice this week is

The Continent
by - Keira Drake
Expected Publication - January 3rd 2017

For her sixteenth birthday, Vaela Sun receives the most coveted gift in all the Spire—a trip to the Continent. It seems an unlikely destination for a holiday: a cold, desolate land where two “uncivilized” nations remain perpetually at war. Most citizens tour the Continent to see the spectacle and violence of battle—a thing long vanished in the Spire. For Vaela—a smart and talented apprentice cartographer—it is an opportunity to improve upon the maps she’s drawn of this vast, frozen land.

But an idyllic aerial exploration is not to be had: the realities of war are made clear in a bloody battle seen from the heli-plane during the tour, leaving Vaela forever changed. And when a tragic accident leaves her stranded on the Continent, she has no illusions about the true nature of the danger she faces. Starving, alone, and lost in the middle of a war zone, Vaela must try to find a way home—but first, she must survive.
What are you waiting on?

  3. Oh boy. By buzz do you mean the critiques over the racism? This one is on my won't buy/support list because of it.

    1. I had to search for it. I wasn't aware of any racism =( That makes me super disappointed.

  4. I was about to choose this one for my WoW this week! I'm very excited to see how she deals with everything. I love the idea of an ignorant girl facing reality in a dangerous way. That makes me sound insane! But I absolutely adored Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, which has a similar-ish premise. Great pick this week! :)

Here is my WoW! Happy Reading!

  5. Eehhh, not going to read this one because of the blatant and problematic racism. But I hope you enjoy this book when you get a chance to read it!

    Have a fabulous week. :)

    Check out my WoW post!
