Synopsis
At a school where Quantum Paradox 101 is a required course and history field trips are literal, sixteen year-old time traveler Bree Bennis excels…at screwing up.

After Bree botches a solo midterm to the 21st century by accidentally taking a boy hostage (a teensy snafu), she stands to lose her scholarship. But when Bree sneaks back to talk the kid into keeping his yap shut, she doesn’t go back far enough. The boy, Finn, now three years older and hot as a solar flare, is convinced he’s in love with Bree, or rather, a future version of her that doesn’t think he’s a complete pain in the arse. To make matters worse, she inadvertently transports him back to the 23rd century with her.

Once home, Bree discovers that a recent rash of accidents at her school are anything but accidental. Someone is attacking time travelers. As Bree and her temporal tagalong uncover seemingly unconnected clues—a broken bracelet, a missing data file, the art heist of the millennium—that lead to the person responsible, she alone has the knowledge to piece the puzzle together. Knowledge only one other person has. Her future self.

But when those closest to her become the next victims, Bree realizes the attacker is willing to do anything to stop her. In the past, present, or future.

Review
I received Loop in return for an honest review from the publisher via Netgalley. Bree is sent on a typical shift with a box to be deposited at a grave but she also carries a phone which she is supposed to hand off and get a account number for a smuggler. When she travels back in time she bumps into Finn who happens to live at the address she's sent to. Not only does he live their but he's also the son of a time shifter just like her. Bree blows her secret mission dropping the phone without delivering it.

When she returns to the current time she needs to figure out how to get the phone back or else Leto will do something to her mom. When her roommate gets the next shift to the same area and time frame they swap so Bree can take it. She intends to find the phone so she can return it but instead returns to her time with Finn only three years old and looking much different. Together they need to figure out why her mom's chip failed, clean up the mess that future Bree has created and get Finn back to his time before it's too late.

I like Bree she's a good person with a good heart who risks her future in hopes of helping her mom. Finn is perfect for Bree even if he’s in love with future Bree who is really Bree. I like the idea that they aren’t from the same time frame it’s an interesting relationship even if they are from many years apart. I really think the author did a great job creating a duo that was easy to connect with you can’t help loving the way Finn is devoted to saving Bree even though she has no idea why.

I saw this one on Netgalley a while back and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Just didn’t have as much reading time as I would have liked so it was forced to wait till I had a chance to get to it. I’ve read a few time travel books before but this is one of my new favorite series. I love the unique concept for shifting how it’s part of the brain that allows them to shift. Loop is loaded with time travelling, romance, mystery and enough secrets to keep you guessing till the very end. The author has a captivating way of telling a story, it flows from start to finish and it’s easy to get lost in Bree’s world. I really enjoyed the first installment and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
5 out of 5 stars
