Synopsis

Being connected to Daemon Black sucks…

Thanks to his alien mojo, Daemon’s determined to prove what he feels for me is more than a product of our bizarro connection. So I’ve sworn him off, even though he’s running more hot than cold these days. But we’ve got bigger problems.

Something worse than the Arum has come to town…

The Department of Defense are here. If they ever find out what Daemon can do and that we're linked, I’m a goner. So is he. And there's this new boy in school who’s got a secret of his own. He knows what’s happened to me and he can help, but to do so, I have to lie to Daemon and stay away from him. Like that's possible. Against all common sense, I'm falling for Daemon. Hard.

But then everything changes…

I’ve seen someone who shouldn’t be alive. And I have to tell Daemon, even though I know he’s never going to stop searching until he gets the truth. What happened to his brother? Who betrayed him? And what does the DOD want from them—from me?

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies…

Review

Everything between Katy and Daemon has changed now that he healer her changing her into something more. While Daemon may be sure his feelings for her are real and no the bond they now share making him feel that way. He’s determined to prove to her he really does feel for her, and isn’t willing to give up easy. Love is in the air all around Katy with her mother dating a doctor from the hospital as well as Dee seeing Adam for a potential mate. When a new boy shows up in town Katy is drawn to the human normalness that he offers. Even with Blake in the picture Daemon isn’t going to just fade away, he doesn’t trust him as far as he can throw him.

After the massive light display that was seen on the satellite the DOD is in town sniffing around the Luxen but they aren’t the only ones in town. Katy tries to hide her new abilities in attempt to not draw attention to Daemon and his sister but soon it becomes impossible to avoid as she risks being seen by fellow students as well as her mom’s boyfriend. When Katy encounters a Arum without Daemon its Blake who saves her revealing he knows more than he’s let on. When Blake offers to train Katy to use her abilities Daemon isn’t thrilled and wants to train her but she wants to train with Blake because he’s like her. When a ghost from the past catches Katy’s eye and she learns about why the DOD is really here things go south quickly will they all make it out before it’s too late?

I love Katy she’s my favorite character because I see a lot of myself in her aside from the fact I don’t have a green eyed alien. I loved the video in my mail box she does with Daemon. They may fight but in the end they are perfect for each other yin to yang to each other. They have come a long way since the first book and I love seeing their relationship advance. I like that as the books progress the characters grow it makes me love them more. It’s nice to see I’m not the only one who gets behind with my books.

I have had the first four of the Lux series sitting on my bookshelf forever but after the first one they just got forgotten not because they aren’t amazing because the first one was. Just way too many review books on my pile that needed attention. I love the whole Luxen concept and adding the twist of Katy having their abilities was a perfect way to make her badass. Within a few pages of Onyx I was hooked by the book finding it impossible to put down. The book I action packed full of hot guys, aliens, action, romance, and a whole lot of mystery. The whole story is so well written it’s easy to get lost in Katy’s story and lose all track of time. I would have finished the book in one sitting if not for too much real life but I stayed up late to finish. I think the alien concept is still new and exciting with the author’s own unique twists and spins Onyx is a perfect second installment. I can’t wait to see what the series has in store for the next book which I hope to be starting very soon. Onyx is a clean book that teens as well as adults will enjoy. The Lux series is quickly becoming my favorite YA paranormal series I’m just in love with everything about it.
5 out of 5 stars
