What is a Book you didn't like that all your friends raved about or what book did you love that wasn't popular?
Answer:
I really was a die hard Anita Blake by Laurell K Hamilton fan since the beginning but over the last few years they are more smut then story-line which killed the series for me. Everyone loves them but I can't seem to get past the smut anymore I've become a substance kind of girl. I know I feel really bad it hasn't stopped me from buying them but I just can't get myself to read them anymore. Maybe I'll start the series over and re-kindle the love

I also didn't like Nightshade by Andrea Cremer but I blame it on the love triangle it just bothered me something awful. However I feel like with all the hype deserves a second chance but I'm going to check out the prequel first.

I am so with you on the Anita books! I LOVED them. But then I just got irritated because she was sleeping with everyone. I liked Nightshade ok, but the love triangle was annoying.

ReplyDeleteI loved the beginning... you know, when she was an actual Necromancer and thought about things other than doing it all the time... and REMEMBERED she had this awesome power to raise the dead... yeah... then the rest of that series happened... and it was all sex, all the time... Hamilton was trying to kill the series... and she absolutely achieved that with me. It turned into a huge steaming pile of awful!

Totally agree with you on both counts. I used to LOVE Anita, specially the books with Edward in them, but then she just started sleeping with every single guy she came across, it was beyond annoying. I'm surprised she actually hasn't slept with Edward. As for Nightshade, I liked the first book alright, second one I skimmed, rest I didn't bother. Couldn't stand the love triangle either.

I have a bunch of the Anita books but haven't ever read them {shakes head in shame}. I've heard other says that the first ones were good and that they got worse.
