Review

I received A Stiff Kiss in return for an honest review as part of the Book Tour on Bewitching Book Tours. Xylia isn't your typical high school girl, instead of being worried about boys, clothes, parties she fascinated with death. She was the one to find her mother after she had passed away and hasn't really gotten over her death. She likes to check out haunted houses, visit cemeteries and even drop in on random funerals. Xylia works at the hospital thanks to her dad's help where she spends her time with the elderly and dying patients. She does have a crush though on the star soccer player Landon Phoenix, and attends every game with her dad where she gets to watch him without being questioned.

The final game of the season with his last chance to be scouted Landon just drops down on the field. Xylia's father who is a doctor attempts with her help to save his life but it doesn't help and he passes away. Xylia sneaks down to the morgue to say goodbye to Landon her long time crush and decides to place a kiss on his cold lips. She never expected his heart to start beating again; she rushes to her father who can't believe that he's alive but follows her to the morgue where they find him breathing. His death was still a mystery and finding him alive is even more of a mystery.

At her fathers request the fact that Xylia found Landon is kept a secret for fear of hurting her or her fathers job. Since after all she wasn't supposed to be in the morgue and this wasn't her first time there either. Landon has a second chance at life all he remembers is green eyes and black hair but upon seeing Xylia at school he knows she has the answers to his questions and sets out to find the truth. Together the pair learns more about themselves as well as each other.

WOW, this book blew me away. Way better then I could ever have imagined. I started it late last night and would have stayed up all night if I didn't have to get up early. I love Xylia I had no problem relating to her as a character, she's unique and I found that all the more interesting. Her obsession with the dying, death, cemeteries, ghosts, and more just make her more fascinating as a character.  I always love a story where two people come together from different walks of life to find love. I found the characters well written, I felt like I was there with them on their journey. It's a awesome story filled with all kinds of emotions, and of course a happy ever after that left me in tears of joy. I look forward to reading more books by Avery Olive because this one was so special to me. I just really loved A Stiff Kiss it was one of the best books I've read this year.

Avery Olive

Avery Olive is proudly Canadian. She is married, and when she’s not helping raise her very energetic and inquisitive son, she can be found working on her latest novel-where she devilishly adds U's into every word she can.

When she is looking for a break Avery enjoys cake decorating, losing herself in a good book, or heading out to the lake to go camping.

The release of Avery's first novel proves to her it won't be the last. As long as her family continues to be supportive, she can find the time, and people want to read, Avery will keep on writing.
