Author Interview: Stephen Robinson

Today we are hosting a tour for Stephen Robinson the author of the exciting new book Mahogany Slade which just came out on the 19th of this month. I was able to get a interview with some great answers to some of my favorite questions.

Mandy - Where did you get your inspiration?
Stephen - Everything around me – songs, bits of overheard conversation, rice pudding.

Mandy - Where did you get the idea for Mahogany Slade?
Stephen - Whisper of it came during my freshman year of college. I think every song listed in the Fall, Winter, and Spring Playlists inspired the book in some way or another.

Mandy - What kind of atmosphere do you prefer when you write?
Stephen - I can write anywhere, but I find tomb-like silence or the white noise of background chatter in a cafe the most effective.

Mandy - What kind of books do you enjoy reading? Which ones are your favorites?
Stephen - I read fiction, non-fiction, drama. My favorite books are The Great Gatsby and Breakfast at Tiffany's, both of which influenced Mahogany Slade.

Mandy - Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
Stephen - Pretty much – I asked for a typewriter when I was 10.

Mandy - If you had to be character in a book who would you be and why?
Stephen - He's not a character but John Berendt (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, The City of Falling Angels) spends time in some of my favorite cities.

Mandy - Who is your favorite Muppet?
Stephen - Gonzo – just like Miss Tomalin.

Mandy - Favorite beverage? Do you drink it daily?
Stephen - Based on what I drink daily, it would be coffee.

Mandy - What is your guilty pleasure?
Stephen - The third cup of coffee.

Mandy - Anything you want to say to our readers?
Stephen - Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy Mahogany Slade.

Thank you so much for answering my questions it's been a pleasure and I look forward to reading Mahogany Slade.
