Addison Prince has almost always gotten what she wants.

Dean Courser only wants to find his brother, but it's the one thing he’s failed at... Even with his unusual ability.

Dean and Addison share the gift of Manipulation—a brief touch that forces others to do what they wish. But when they meet and realize their connection, they find more questions than answers. Suddenly Dean is seeing shadows move on their own, and Addison is learning her father’s mysterious group may know more about her abilities than he’s ever let on.

As Dean and Addison second-guess every decision about who they are and why they're wanted, time is running out. With shadows following their every move, they're losing hope they’ll ever get to safety—if such a thing exists.

Review

I received Manipulation in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by YABound Book Tour.. Manipulation is the second book in the Shadows Series we get a little perspective of what’s currently happening to Micah and Landon before we surge into a new story.  Addison Prince is the wealthy daughter of two parents who are never home which allows her to get away with almost everything.  Addison has the gift of Manipulation she can tell people to do as she wishes but when she gets caught and ends up in front of a judge her life changes forever. In the court room that day is a teenager who’s not had all the privileges that Addison has his name is Dean.

When the pair ends up in the same life program they learn that they have a lot more in common than either one expected. Addison has been keeping secret her relationship with her dad’s best friend’s son who is several years older. It isn’t till she and Dean start to become friends that Addison realizes she’s not as happy with Chase as she is with Dean. When Addison learns that her boyfriend Chase is engaged to another woman she calls it quits.  Addison has been hurt by Chase, but Dean is their being patient, allowing her to heal and learn to trust again. Together they start to fall in love brought together by their special ability of manipulation. Like the first book we see a little more of the shadows looming in the background.

Manipulation is a fantastic addition to the Shadows Series. Unlike with the first book the author gives us point of views from both Addison and Dead which I find gives us more of an insight into both sides. I honestly loved Micah and Landon after Insight but I think Addison and Dean stole my heart. I found a little more humor in their relationship which I really enjoyed. However Addison is by far one of my new all-time favorite characters she’s my first germ-a-phobe and because she’s wealthy after having been at the police station instead of washing her clothing she throws it away.  I had a hard time putting manipulation down I actually finished it in one long afternoon.  I can say I’m thrilled that I don’t have the germ-a-phobe issues or by now I would be out of clothes since I don’t have a big fancy car to drive me around.  Like Insight the concept and story-line are unique and I found myself drawn into the story. The Story flows along smoothly so I can see teens as well as adults connecting with the characters. I really loved Manipulation it’s a fantastic fantasy story mixed with mystery and clean romance. I look forward to reading Seeker.

4 out of 5 Stars

About the Author
Jolene kissed a boy on her high school graduation night. One she’d wanted to kiss for a long time. They got married two years later, have built two homes together, survived military deployments, law school, student loan debt, and two children.

Jolene plays the guitar, takes pictures, and loves to hike. She doesn’t like rivers, but loves the ocean. She loves to fly, but gets motion sick. Her ultimate vacation would be to sail
through the deserted islands in The Bahamas. Two years ago, she got that wish when her parents retired on a sailboat.

She taught high school French when she was only a few years older than her students, and then taught middle school math with her degree in political science and French.
She spends grocery money on designer fabric, shoes, and books.

Jolene cannot express how many times she wished she could write a whole novel. And now she has. Several times. Life is good.
