Throwback Thursday!

Throwback Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books.

It's the nature of book blogging to focus mainly on new releases, but there are thousands of great books out there that haven't seen the "New Releases" shelf in years. We hope to be able to bring attention to some older titles that may not be at the top of the current bestseller list, but still deserve a spot in your To-Be-Read pile.

You don't have to be a book blogger to participate! You can put up a Throwback Thursday post on your non-bookish blog; or if you don't have a blog at all, you use the comments to tell us about a book you remember fondly.

Here's how it works:
1. Pick any book released more then 5 years ago. Adult, YA, Children's; doesn't matter. Any great book will do.
2. Write up a short summary of the book (include the title, author, and cover art) and an explanation of why you love it. Make sure to link back to The Housework Can Wait and Never Too Fond of Books in your post.
3. Link up your post at The Housework Can Wait or Never Too Fond of Books.
4. Visit as many blogs as you can, reminisce about books you loved, and discover some "new" books for your TBR list!

Feel free to grab the Throwback Thursday button code from the sidebar to use in your posts.
Thanks for participating, and we look forward to seeing which books you choose to remember!

This is my first Throwback Thursday, I decided to do one of my favorite vampire stories from a long while back.

Beneath A Blood Red Moon

Book one in the Vampire Series

5 out of 5 Stars

Synopsis

A tale that sweeps the reader from the antebellum south to contemporary New Orleans, the dark, sensuous world of love and immortality, of beauty and the beast whom some call vampires......

Maggie Montgomery, the owner of Magdalena's an elegant New Orleans boutique, gasped when she learned about the mysterious beheading of a local street person, and the trail of blood that led from the corpse to her building. Her shock turned to turmoil when she met Sean Canady, the police officer who arrived to question her...and inspired a dangerous desire.

Something powerful--and beyond reason--had brought Maggie and Sean together. Something that spoke of an interwoven past, and a passionate torment that began generations before under a blood red moon. For on that night of erotic seduction, Magdalena Montgomery became a vampire, and began a century- long quest to find the one man whose love was pure enough, strong enough to save her from the darkness within...

Review-
Shannon Drake is a pen name for Heather Graham however at the time I didn't know that when I picked up the first one. It's a series that I've read a few times, since they first came out. I remember rushing to the book store to pick up each one after work, because I was dying to read the next one.

The story is about Maggie who owns the dress shop, but she's also a immortal vampire who is in love with New Orleans where she grew up as a girl before she became a vampire. She leaves New Orleans for twenty years to travel to Europe to pretend to return as her daughter. She's looking for her true love and Sean Canady has returned to her. This book has well written characters you fall in love with, romance, murder, and mystery all the makings of a great series.

It's a been a while since I've read this series and I've read hundreds since I last read this series so my memory is a little weak. I may have to grab the book off the shelf in read it again. Since it's one of my all time favorite vampire stories and one of the first that helped suck me into the vampire craze.

  1. Something I've learned from this meme is that there were a lot of vampire books before vampire books became a big thing! I wouldn't have been able to tell you that before. And this one sounds interesting, since I'm getting ready to travel to New Orleans twice this summer :-)

    Great Throwback! Here's mine!
