Halloween Spotlight ~ Zombies

During the month of October I want to spotlight as many different types of Halloween books as I can. Some of my favorites while others are on my to read list. Each post will have a theme for example this one is all about Zombies!!!!!

I have a soft spot for zombies I just can’t seem to get enough of them. I think it’s because they scare me and deep down I figure one day they will be in some form walking the earth. I know far-fetched but I have an overactive imagination. My hubby and friends love to give me a hard time but who knows maybe a scientist will accidently create the walking dead.

My favorite Zombie books
Dead Over Heels by Alison Kemper (Review)
Donna of the Dead by Alison Kemper (Review)
PODs by Michelle K. Pickett (Review)
Taste by Kate Evangelista (Review)
Undead by Kirsty McKay (Review)
Unfed by Kirsty McKay (Review)

I have a huge TBR of zombies book I have every intention of reading. So I decided to narrow it down to just a few. So many great zombie books available to read that I may have to do challenge myself to read a bunch next year since they are my favorite.

Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter (Here)

She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.

I wish... Yeah, I wish.

I love the Alice concept but I've heard so many mixed thoughts I've procrastinated starting this series. However with the beautiful covers maybe it's time I just give it a chance.

Aftertime by Sophie Littlefield (Goodreads)

Awakening in a bleak landscape as scarred as her body, Cass Dollar vaguely recalls surviving something terrible. Having no idea how many weeks have passed, she slowly realizes the horrifying truth: Ruthie has vanished.
And with her, nearly all of civilization.

Where once-lush hills carried cars and commerce, the roads today see only cannibalistic Beaters -- people turned hungry for human flesh by a government experiment gone wrong.

In a broken, barren California, Cass will undergo a harrowing quest to get Ruthie back. Few people trust an outsider, let alone a woman who became a zombie and somehow turned back, but she finds help from an enigmatic outlaw, Smoke. Smoke is her savior, and her safety.

For the Beaters are out there.

And the humans grip at survival with their trigger fingers. Especially when they learn that she and Ruthie have become the most feared, and desired, of weapons in a brave new world….

I've had this one on my kindle for a while but never seem to get around to it but it sound intriguing. I love scary zombie books but can't read them before bed or I'm doomed to have nightmares.

Feed by Mira Grant (Goodreads)

The year was 2014. We had cured cancer. We had beaten the common cold. But in doing so we created something new, something terrible that no one could stop.

The infection spread, virus blocks taking over bodies and minds with one, unstoppable command: FEED. Now, twenty years after the Rising, bloggers Georgia and Shaun Mason are on the trail of the biggest story of their lives - the dark conspiracy behind the infected.

The truth will get out, even if it kills them

I've heard so much about Feed but it sound scary so I've been waiting. I hope to get to it this month.
