Synopsis
So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?

When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures. There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.

Review

I received Rush in return for an honest review from the author. Miki lives with her dad after they lost her mom to cancer she tried to keep things normal good grades and her friends but all that is about to change. When a new student arrives at school she starts hearing voices that tell her to help and save a little girl from a fatal accident. Upon saving the girl she is trust into another world where a team fights aliens in order to save the planet. They claim it’s a game but it’s real, she’s joined by Luka one of the kids from school as well as the new guy. Unlike other new players to the team Jackson takes her under his wing protecting her.

When they eliminate the threat they are thrust back into their lives time once again starts as if they have never left. Miki is confused and none of the players will explain what’s going on it’s a secret Luka won’t disclose but Jackson shows up to answer her questions. Even Luka gives in not wanting Miki to be in the dark of what’s going on. When her friends see her talking to the guys she feels betrayed so not only does Miki have aliens and attractive guys to deal with she also has to save her friendship. The aliens are ramping up for something big will Miki be able to stop them before it’s too late? Will they all make it out of the game alive?

I didn’t care for Miki at first but as the book progressed I grew to like her. She’s had a rough life and dealing with her dad after losing her mom can’t be easy. I liked Luka right away he’s a good guy who’s just trying to survive the game and I hope to see more of him in the next book. When it comes to Jackson he also captured my heart he’s not perfect, he has issues he’s the reason that Miki’s life changed but I think he’s also good for her and willing to risk his life for hers.

I was really excited to have the chance to read Rush because I’ve heard so much about the series. The concept reminds me of Enders Game but I think it’s executed better in my opinion. I love the idea that they are time traveling outside their bodies to find an alien race that is bent on destroying the people of earth. I’m kind of a sucker for a good alien story and this one rates right up there with the Lux. I really enjoyed the characters I was able to connect with them captivated by their stories as they intertwined. Rush is a captivating story that draws the reader in right from the start loaded with action, suspense, aliens, romance and a kick ass heroine to save the day. My only complaint is that it’s a cliffhanger so I need to read the next one to see how it will play out. Rush is a must for fans of YA Sci Fi and aliens. I really enjoyed the story it was hard to put down. I loved it.
5 out of 5 stars
