Author - Alyssa Rose Ivy
Series - Clayton Falls #3
Genre - Romance
Published - April 30th 2013

Synopsis
When your past catches up, it's time to stop running.

Jake Mathews messed up yet again— but this time his misstep lands him in the hospital. He wakes up to find the girl of his dreams and the memory of having his deepest secret revealed.

Emily Taylor needs a break. She's been working double shifts as a nurse just to pay the bills while trying to heal a broken heart. The last thing she needs is to fall for a patient.

                                                                             Review
Jake’s past has caught up with him the truth about how he tried to break up Molly and Ben comes out. He takes off leaving before they can confront him about what’s happened having been drinking doesn’t bode well because he crashes his car. Next thing he knows he’s in the waking up in the ICU being taken care of by the most beautiful women he’s ever met. Emily is instantly attracted to Jake but he’s her patient and she doesn’t need a man in her life. When Jake’s determined to have a date with Emily she gives him her number but doesn’t expect him to call.

After getting out of the hospital, Jake surprises Emily by calling and inviting her to do only one catch he can’t drive. Emily drives to Clayton Falls not expecting anything to happen with Jake but what she finds is a connection that leaves her wanting more. Emily has a past that has changed her life forever and could ruin everything between her and Jake. She decides to wait before telling him but when he suddenly finds out could it ruin everything for them or only make them stronger?

I really liked Jake in the prior books and was thrilled that we would get his story. Jake has issues he almost ruined his brothers chance at happiness, his football career didn’t work out and he’s never really been in love before. Emily’s life isn’t easy either she has bills, responsibilities and still a reason to work hard. She doesn’t need a man but after years of being single maybe she needs him as bad as he her.

Wrecked is the third installment in the Clayton Falls series which has been a fantastic series. I was super excited we are going to get Jake’s story after all he’s been influential in the prior books. I really connected with both characters they each have a spot in my heart and may be my favorite couple of the three. I really enjoyed the writing style of the series we get the story with the steamy moments but they aren’t overwhelming which I enjoyed. The author also gives us both points of view from the characters in the book which I think enhances the story. Wrecked is a HEA romance that steals your heart and leaves you feeling good. I honestly loved Wrecked it was well written and worth reading and I know I’ll read it again.                                      5 out of 5 stars

What's Next?

What's Next?
Hosted by IcyBooks

Picking out what to read has always been a struggle for me. I've got lots of review books and even more non-review books.

My Choice's for what's next:

I enjoy checking out the kindle freebie books and have been trying to read more of them. Both are current kindle freebies if your interested.

The Blemished by Sara Dalton
(Goodreads)(Amazon)

A beautiful world comes at a price...

In a world filled with stunning clones Mina Hart is Blemished. Her genes are worthless and that takes away her rights: her right to an Education, her right to a normal life and her right to have a child.

Mina keeps a dangerous secret which she never thought she could share until she meets Angela on her first day at St Jude's School. But their friendship is soon complicated by Angela’s adoptive brother Daniel. Mina finds herself drawn to his mysterious powers and impulsive nature. Then there is the gorgeous clone Sebastian who Mina is forbidden from even speaking to…

The Blemished is a frightening take on a fractured future where the Genetic Enhancement Ministry have taken control of Britain. It will take you on a ride filled with adventure, romance and rebellion.

Atlantis Riptide: Lost Daughters of Atlantis by Allie Burton
(Goodreads)(Amazon)

Sixteen-year-old Pearl Poseidon ran away from the circus tired of her adoptive parents’ abuse of her special skills. As a runaway, she craves anonymity but when she saves a small boy from drowning she draws attention to herself and her special abilities. Boardwalk employee and aspiring investigative reporter, Chase Thomas, helps her with the rescue and witnesses her amazing dive.
Now, he has questions. And so do the police.

Unbeknownst to Pearl, a battle rages under the Pacific between Loyal and Non-Loyal Atlantean forces and each side wants to use her powers for their cause. Will the commotion in the ocean expose her secrets to the world? Will Chase’s reporter-determination ruin their chance for a real relationship? Will staying near the ocean she loves catapult into a battle royale?

So many choices this week which would you choose? I'm stuck.

FireInTheWoods.v6-Book1-Final
When a plane crashes in the woods near Jess’s home, the boy of her dreams falls out of the sky—literally. But David’s not here to find a girlfriend. He’s from another planet, and if Jess can’t help him get back to his ship, he’ll be stuck on Earth with nothing to look forward to but the pointy end of a dissection scalpel.
But her father runs their house like an army barracks, and with an alien on the loose, Major Dad isn’t too keen on the idea of Jess going anywhere. Ever. So how the heck is she supposed to help the sweetest, strangest, and cutest guy she’s ever met?
Hiding him in her room probably isn’t the best idea. Especially since her Dad is in charge of the squadron searching for David. That doesn’t mean she won’t do it. It just means she can't get caught.
Helping David get home while protecting her heart—that’s gonna be the hard part. After all, she can't really fall for a guy who’s not exactly from here.
As they race through the woods with Major Dad and most of the U.S. military one breath behind them, Jess and David grow closer than either of them anticipated. But all is not what it seems. David has a genocide-sized secret, and one betrayal later, they are both in handcuffs as alien warships are positioning themselves around the globe. Time is ticking down to Armageddon, and Jess must think fast if she's to save the boy she cares about without sacrificing Earth—and everyone on it.

Review: UnEnchanted

Title - UnEnchanted
Author - Chanda Hahn
Series - An Unfortunate Fairytale
Genre - YA fairytale fantasy
Published - 2011

Synopsis
Mina Grime is unlucky, unpopular and uncoordinated; that is until she saves her crush's life on a field trip, changing her High School status from loser to hero overnight.

But with her new found fame brings misfortune in the form of an old family curse come to light. For Mina is a descendant from the Brothers Grimm and has inherited all of their unfinished fairy tale business which includes trying to outwit a powerful Story from making her its' next fairy-tale victim.

To break the fairy tale curse on her family and make these deadly occurrences stop, Mina must finish the tales until the very Grimm end.

Review
Mina doesn’t try to draw attention to herself, because in the past her mother has packed them up moving them across the country. She isn’t popular, clumsy and completely lost when it comes to pop culture but that is all about to change when she saves a popular boy at a bakery. Now that Mina has saved Brody the popular he’s showing an interest in being more than just friends. When Mina is attacked outside the library and Brody is there he wants her to tell the police but she knows the police won’t be able to help her but she doesn’t think she can tell him the truth.

Mina confronts her mother in attempt to keep her from moving them again only to find out that she comes from a long line of Grimms that have been cursed. In order to break the curse she will need to confront them all head on it could mean her death but she has to do it to save her little brother. At least she won’t have to do it on her own she has the help of her best friend, a magical Grimoire, a stranger who seems to know more than he’s letting on and her crush Brody. Will Mina survive the fairytale dance with Brody? Will the fae catch up with her before the dace?

I think Mina is a likeable character she has typical high school unpopular girl problems. She is one of those characters that just gets better as the story progress when she starts hunting the fairytales. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Brody he’s the rich popular perfect guy that all the girls want to be with but he only has eyes for Mina. As the book continued I decided that Brody is strong enough to accept that Mina is a Grimm and support her. I’m curious to see how this will play out for them in the future books.

I picked up UnEnchanted as a kindle freebie last year but never seemed to get around to it until this last challenge. I think the author has created a great concept taking the Fairytales idea and putting her own unique spin on Mina’s story. The book does start out a little slow but don’t let that fool you it’s has everything it needs to be a great story. Sadly I didn’t connect with Mina as much as I would have liked but I did like her character. I see lots of potential for this series in future books, and I am curious to read them but I can’t say for sure how soon that will be. I really wish I could have loved UnEnchanted but I did it was good but not as amazing as I had hoped.

Book Tour: Review - The Husband Maker

Husband Maker Tour
The Husband Maker by Karey White
The Husband Maker by Karey White Charlotte’s a girl with nicknames. She may not love being called Charles or Chuck, but the hardest nickname to take is the one she was given in college, the one that’s followed her now for too many years. They call her “the husband maker” and sadly, it fits. Every guy she’s dated since high school has become his next girlfriend’s husband. Not hers. Not three girlfriends down the road. The next. Is she doing something wrong or is she just cursed? When Kyle Aldsworth enters the picture and sweeps her off her feet, Charlotte begins to hope that maybe she's not destined to be single forever. A senator’s son with political aspirations of his own, Kyle's wealthy, handsome, and in need of a wife. Will Charlotte be disappointed yet again, or will she finally be able to make a husband for herself?

Review
I received The Husband Maker in return for an honest review as part of the tour hosted by I Am A Reader book tours. Charlotte hasn’t had luck finding the right guy but every guy she’s dated has ended up married to the next girl he dates after her. She’s been called the “husband maker” because even the ones who aren’t ready to settle down do with the next one.  Charlotte is hesitant when her boss pushed her to date one of her husband’s friend, but decides to give it a shot.

Charlotte had a couple of dates with Kyle but it was the one with the hot air balloon that sealed their fate. They both found what they were looking for, happy going out or just staying home for the evening. Things aren’t perfect they both come from different worlds while Charlotte is a normal girl who works hard Kyle is the son of a politician who wants to follow in his dad’s footsteps. When Charlotte accidently speaks to a reporter at a function, she didn’t expect her words to be twisted into lies. Can she deal with being attached to a man when she has to watch how she acts?

Oh I loved Charlotte right from the start after all her story takes play in the same area I happen to live. So when she’s doing promotional stuff for the jelly bean factory I was like “hey I’ve been there before many times”. I found it easy to connect with Charlotte she’s just a really great person one of those you want to be friends with. I really like Kyle for he’s into her needs as well as his own and he really loves her. However I also like Angus and could see him being the one for Charlotte and felt like he is single because he loves her.

When I received the tour invite I didn’t read the synopsis just signed up because I Am A Reader has always had fantastic books clean romance which is my favorite. I was pleasantly surprised that Charlotte lived near me which just made me fall in love with the book. I love the idea of her being just a normal girl who finds love by chance with a great guy, that she doesn’t need the extravagant dates. I started and finished The Husband Maker in one day only stopping to read when the kids needed something. My only complaint is it’s a cliffhanger and I need the next one because I’m dying to know what’s going to happen with Charlottes love life as well as Kyle and Angus. I really enjoyed the fact that the book is a sweet, fun, emotional roller coaster that keeps you wanting more. I love the authors writing style it’s easy to get lost in the story I felt like I was really with Charlotte which for me is the sign of a great book. I know I’ll be impatiently waiting for the next one. If you like clean romance I highly suggest you check it out.

Excerpt
My apartment intercom buzzed. “Yes?” I answered.
“It’s Kyle Aldsworth.” He had a deep, rich voice in spite of the static that accompanied it.
“Great. I’ll be right down.” I ran to the window that overlooked the sidewalk in front of my apartment. I didn’t have a great angle. The door to our building was narrow and sat behind a wrought iron gate between Cuddy’s Clip Shop and Grandpa Guo’s Shoe Repair. Cuddy’s was two floors below us, and if guests were standing too close to the door, they were blocked from view by the barber pole attached to the side of the building.
Kyle stood a few feet from the door, allowing me a birds-eye view of dark, thick hair and a navy suit. If he looked up, I’d be able to see his face, which Jayne had compared to a clean-shaven Jake Gyllenhaal. Of course, if he looked up, he’d probably see I was spying out my window instead of coming to the door. I took one last look at my gray and white striped dress, grabbed my yellow cardigan, and headed down.
“You must be Charlotte,” he said when I opened the door. I smiled and looked up—yes up—at one of the most incredible faces I’d ever gone on a date with. Jayne had been wrong. He wasn’t a beardless Jake Gyllenhaal. He was Jake plus Cary Grant plus Captain VonTrapp, with a little of Jonny Lee Miller’s Mr. Knightley thrown in for good measure. Perhaps that sounds ridiculous, but you weren’t looking at him.
All intelligent thought abandoned me, leaving me unable to remember for sure what my name was.
What kind of game was Jayne playing with me? Kyle was much too beautiful for me. He’d have probably been too beautiful for Grace Kelly.
“You are Charlotte Emerson, right?”
How long had I been standing there gawping at him?
“Yes. I’m Charlotte.”
“Whew! You had me worried for a second. I’m Kyle. It’s good to meet you.” He extended his hand and shook mine. His hand was perfect—good size, warm and dry, nice grip without too much enthusiasm. He was a hand-shaking artist. Great. He’d stopped shaking my hand and I hadn’t relinquished my grip. I quickly withdrew mine and turned to lock the iron gate. My face burned, and I fidgeted with the key for a few extra seconds to give my cheeks a chance to return to their normally fair complexion.
Kyle was smiling when I turned back around. “My car’s around the corner.”

My Dusty Bookshelf

My Dusty Bookshelf
I've got an addiction for adding books to my bookshelf but never getting around to them. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. It's just so easy with all the new books to forget about the older ones. I'd like to start reading some of the books I've had for years and just haven't read. I thought this would be a good way to share and rekindle some interest in my dusty books. Plus I love giving books a little extra spotlight when I can.

This one came up when talking about Tom Cruise movies today and I've never read it. However I have a copy maybe I should.

Interview With the Vampire
by Anne Rice
(Goodreads)

Synopsis
Here are the confessions of a vampire. Hypnotic, shocking, and chillingly erotic, this is a novel of mesmerizing beauty and astonishing force—a story of danger and flight, of love and loss, of suspense and resolution, and of the extraordinary power of the senses. It is a novel only Anne Rice could write.

What's on your dusty bookshelf? Do you have books that have been there for years? I do. I can't wait to see what you have to share this week. Be sure to leave a comment with a link so I can check yours out. Happy Reading!!!
