Guest Post
Do you read the same kinds of books that you write? What authors have influenced you?

I have a fairly eclectic taste in books. I like a little bit of everything: Romance, mystery, suspense, and of course, I read a lot of young adult romance.

That said, my favorite genre is young adult. I read a good mix of both YA contemporary romance and paranormal romance.

Most of the books I’ve published to date have been YA contemporary romance. However, paranormal is by far my favorite. I love books that can pull you out of everyday life. I think paranormal romance does that in a way that no other genre can. There is just so much more an author can do with paranormal romance. They can really take the reader anywhere.

My favorite authors are Kim Harrison and Richelle Mead. I’ve read everything they’ve written. I’ve actually read several of their books twice. That’s not something I do often because my TBR pile (like everyone else’s) grows by the day. I believe that of all of the books I’ve read, these two authors have influenced me the most. I aspire to someday be as wonderful at world building and storytelling as these two amazing ladies are.

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

I haven't read many Frankenstein retelling stories but the ones I have are books I enjoyed. I like the idea that he may even meet up with the real Dr. Frankenstein can't wait to check it out at the end of the summer.

My choice this week is

The Monstrous Thing

by Mackenzi Lee
Expected Publication September 22nd 2015
(Goodreads)

Synopsis
In 1818 Geneva, men built with clockwork parts live hidden away from society, cared for only by illegal mechanics called Shadow Boys. Two years ago, Shadow Boy Alasdair Finch’s life shattered to bits.

His brother, Oliver—dead.

His sweetheart, Mary—gone.

His chance to break free of Geneva—lost.

Heart-broken and desperate, Alasdair does the unthinkable: He brings Oliver back from the dead.

But putting back together a broken life is more difficult than mending bones and adding clockwork pieces. Oliver returns more monster than man, and Alasdair’s horror further damages the already troubled relationship.

Then comes the publication of Frankenstein and the city intensifies its search for Shadow Boys, aiming to discover the real life doctor and his monster. Alasdair finds refuge with his idol, the brilliant Dr. Geisler, who may offer him a way to escape the dangerous present and his guilt-ridden past, but at a horrible price only Oliver can pay…

Wishlist Wednesday

Wishlist Wednesday
Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the list and onto our wonderful shelves.
Hosted by Pen to Paper

I've enjoyed other books by Tracy Deebs and this one sounds interesting had to add it to my wishlist since it just came out.

My choice this week is:

Powerless

by Tera Lynn Childs & Tracy Deebs
(Goodreads)

Synopsis
Kenna is tired of being "normal". The only thing special about her is that she isn't special at all. Which is frustrating in a world of absolutes. Villains, like the one who killed her father, are bad. Heroes, like her mother and best friend, are good. And Kenna, unlike everyone else around her, is completely ordinary— which she hates.

She’s secretly working on an experiment that will land her a place among the Heroes, but when a Villain saves her life during a break-in at her lab, Kenna discovers there’s a whole lot of gray area when it comes to good and evil and who she can trust.. After all…not all strength comes from superpowers.

Sixteen-year-old Liza Johnson takes fangirl to a whole new level of crazy when she decides to take dating advice from her literary hero: Jane Austen.

Enter Will, the new kid and Liza's Darcy incarnate. Add her BFF's ex to mix and the sexy Brit who kisses with an accent, and Liza is in trouble.
So, what's a girl to do? Without her mom to go to relationship advice, Liza turns to the only person she can truly trust with matters of the heart via her mother's copy of COMPLETED WORKS OF JANE AUSTEN.
It's too bad Austen's heroines have never played Spin the Bottle or Seven Minutes in Heaven. Liza's determined to find her true Austen-esque happy ending, but if she can't trust herself instead of books, she just might end up in her own tragic love story.

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jenn of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

~Grab your current read
~Open to a random page
~Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on the page
~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! ( make sure that what you share doesn't give away too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

~Share the title & author too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

I'm starting this one after I finish my current read and thought I would use it as my teaser today. This also happens to be my monthly bookclub book so I've been looking forward to it.

1st to Die
by James Patterson
(Goodreads)

Teaser:
“May I present Mr. David Brandt,” Jacob! intoned with a crooked smile. “Mrs. David Brandt’s in there.” He gestured toward the bedroom. “Guess things went downhill for them quicker than most.”
I knelt down and took a long, hard look at the dead groom. He was handsome, with short, dark, tousled hair and a soft jaw; but the wide,
apoplectic eyes locked open and the rivulet of dried blood on his chin marred the features. Behind him, his tuxedo jacket lay on the floor.

Top Ten Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday!
Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke And The Brookish. Who doesn't love lists. They make life easy! And fun!! It's always a never ending topic.

This week's topic:
Freebie
Top ten Books I would love see as movies/tv shows.

This one has so many choices it's going to be hard to narrow it down to just 10.

1. The Selection Series by Kiera Cass ~ I think this one would work as a tv show but I don't know how many seasons you would get but maybe ABC family could make it a summer show since they like to do books. With all the dresses maybe they can find some young designers to be the maids who could showcase their own skills. Maybe a little project runway style. Yup I'm clearly dreaming with this one.

2. The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly ~ I think this one would make a very successful movie after all they are bringing out Jurassic Park World. The book was excellence and with the advances of technology I think it would be a blast to see the dragons on the big screen.

3. Confess by Colleen Hoover ~ Since they are doing Ugly Love I want to see this one next one of my favorites and I think it could be beautifully done. Crossing my fingers.

4. Hero by Samantha Young ~ Since Ugly Love is getting made I think it's only fair that Hero be made into a movie. I loved the book and I know it will be awesome if it's made into a movie.

5. Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs ~ This is one of those series I could see being made into a TV show but I think it would have to be a HBO show in order to due it justice kind of along the lines of True Blood. So many great characters that would be fun to see come to life.

6. The Blackcoat Rebellion by Aimee Carter ~ The dystopian theme is popular right now with Divergent so maybe this one would be a hit also. It's a interesting concept and I think it would be fun to see it played out on the big screen.

7. Anita Blake Vampire Hunter by Laurell K Hamilton ~ For the longest time I have been hoping to see this one made into a HBO show. As the series has progressed I almost feel like it was written for HBO. I may not be current but with so many books in the series it has a lot of potential for some interesting ideas. However the author has said over and over it won't happen. I'm still adding it to the list hoping. I would love to see Anita come to life.

8. Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout ~ I keep hoping that the CW will pick this one up for a future TV show I would love to see Katy and stab-worthy Daemon come to life. Still crossing my fingers for this one.

9. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead ~ I know this one flopped on the big screen even though I enjoy watching it over and over. I think it needs a reboot like Mortal instruments is getting and if that one is successful maybe ABC family will pick it up also. Crossing my fingers so we can see Adrian.

10. The Crescent Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy ~ I would love to see this one as a TV show that would roll into her other series kind of like a American horror story but with the paranormal using her different series. I can hope for a movie and keep my fingers crossed for whatever I can get.

I can't wait to see what everyone else is suggesting!!

My June TBR

Looking forward to this June. So many awesome books and lots of fun posts planned.
What do you have planned for the month of June?

Musing Mondays

Musing Mondays
Hosted by A Daily Rhythm
Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
This week's question:
Do you have different genres for different seasons? For example lighter books in summer and chunkier books in winter?

My Answer:
The only genres are Christmas books in the winter I won't read them any other time. Otherwise it's all based on what moon I'm in or have been craving. I'm not picky when it comes to book size be it huge or small for the most part. However I want to start Game of Thrones and they are a little daunting so I haven't.
What about you do you read different genre's at different times of year?
