My boots make a sharp tapping sound as I clomp my way home. The loose gravel at the edge of the road jumps away from my anger, skirting ahead of me then tumbling down the steep embankment. 

I can't believe I'm in this situation. How could my boyfriend be such a jerk? I cross my arms and shiver, trying to block the last thirty minutes from my mind. What will people think? I blink away tears as I imagine the gossip tree shaking with mirth. How am I going to face everyone tomorrow?

Review 

I received Betwixt in return for an honest review as part of Tour organized by AToMR Tours. Nicole has a lot of baggage which has caused her to travel off down the wrong side making some not so great friends. When a night out ends in a fight with her boyfriend, Nicole finds herself walking along a icy mountain road. She sees the car swerving on the road and it slams into her sending over the edge leaving her hurt in the snow off the road. When no one shows up to help her she starts having out of body experiences but no one can see her but the boy new boy in school she made fun of.

Dale has his own dark past but he's trying to be a better son and when Nicole reaches out to him he wants to help her. Before it's too late the two try to figure out where her body is lying but she can't remember where she was and no one seems want to come forward. Nicole starts to see her friends in a new light one that doesn't paint a very nice picture. As she continues to be missing they all speculate that she's run off and don't seem to really care. She finds her boyfriend being too friendly to one of the girls she thought was her friend. A few years ago Nicole's life was changed with the death of her little sister. As the truth begins to unfold about who is responsible for Nicole's accident, she learns that they are running out of time and she may black out for good.

I really liked Nicole's story it's about dealing with grief which is something everyone handles differently and I think it's insightful to those who haven't experienced it. I like the relationship between Nicole and Dale the more I get to know them the more that I fell they are perfect for each other since they each have their own deep dark past. Betwixt is a quick fast paced story filled with emotions that I found captivating from start to finish. The paranormal twist isn't overwhelming it's just a little added bonus that just makes the story better. I love that Nicole progresses from a character you don't like to by the end a character I loved. Betwixt is an emotional story that plays at your heart stings but give you a ending that makes you awww.

I smile as my eyes adjust to the morning light, squinting as a beautiful blur of yellow and white squeezes between my eyelids. Sunbeams stream in through the thatched roof made of wood and twisted vine, one directly onto my face. My eyelids twitch as they fight their way open. Specks of dust float aimlessly through the air, twinkling as bright as the stars in the night sky. A thickleburn pushes through one of the cracks in the thatch and flits about my tiny tree house, finally landing on the uneaten blueberry I left on the floor last night. It looks at me thoughtfully with those black, metallic, oval-shaped eyes that are way too big for its head.

Review

I received Dust for review from the author Devon Ashley in return for a honest review. Rosalie grew up in a Hallow where are the Pixie children are raised together by the village. While the other pixies are teens are thinking about courting and finding mates all Rosalie wants to do is enjoy her time in the forest. On a night when a storm is brewing Rosalie is attacked taken from her home only to wake up in a hole in the ground. After several days of being neglected she's moved into the pit with the other pixies, where they are forced to make pixie dust for the fairies. 

All pixies have their wings broken and iron clamped on them to keep them at their backs, they are fed minimal food and forced to work sun up to sun down. When the leader of the little group dies from the abuse Rosalie has enough and takes the chance to make a break for it when she sees that the place they are kept is glamoured.  However she doesn't make it far before she's captured and put back into the dark hole. The warden of the prison visits her in attempt to break her will but Rosalie is stronger then most and won't give up, he even has her wings broken 68 times. When Jack gets in trouble at home for a prank he's in put in charge of breaking Rosalie but he's not like the warden. 

Instead of beating Rosalie he brings her more food, medicine to help her wings. The once severely malnourished pixie starts to get put some weight on looking more like her own self. The more time the pair spends together they find themselves developing feelings for each other. Yet Fairies and Pixies are two different species and aren't meant to be together. When the warden shows up and has Rosalie’s wings broken again because Jack isn't beating her down, he decides it's time to get her out. 

Dust is about Rosalie after she's taken from the hollow her experiences while living as a prisoner of the fairies. I really loved Rosalie as a character she's unique unlike the other pixies in her hollow she's strong willed and fighter. No matter how bad her time is in the hole she's still a fighter and I admire how she doesn't give up. I like the relationship between Jack and Rosalie she needs someone who is like her and willing to protect her even if it risks himself. The story-line is fast paced full of action, emotions, trials and tribulations that kept me drawn in right from the start. I had a really hard time putting Dust down and frankly I didn't till  I finished. Only to find I have to wait till the next one comes out. I wish I had it now or maybe yesterday so I could start it. I want to know what's going to happen in the next chapter of Rosalie's life. I don't want to spoil the book but one of the best books I've read this year for sure. It has everything I could of asked for, plus characters I connected with a really loved.

I used to love May: the heat and the promise of a long and limitless summer. I’d count down the last weeks of April with excitement, ready for my favorite time of year. The May of my first, and only, year of law school was different. It brought the craving for change—and the need to escape.

I remember the exact moment I decided to quit law school. It was during contracts only a week before spring exams. The end of my 1L year was in sight, and I should have been excited. My first semester grades placed me firmly in the top 25% of the class, and finishing first year meant I was getting ready to pass a milestone I’d thought about for years. Of course, I should have also been getting ready for an even bigger milestone: my wedding.

Review

I received Derailed as part of the blog tour hosted by AToMR Tours in return for a honest review. Molly is in the first semester of Law school but she doesn't have the heart for it like she though she did so she decides it's time to quit. She decides to leave school and head for her child hood home which her mother still has even if she doesn't plan on living in it. Molly's life over the last few years has been anything but easy. She still feels guilty for the death of her father when she was a teenager. She had a huge fight over money for college and the next thing she knows her father dies on train tracks. When she needs him most her boyfriend Ben isn't there for her pushing her to end their relationship and head off to Boston.

In Boston Molly meets a young college guy they start dating but her heart isn't into it they even get engaged she postpones the wedding because she's not sure how she feels. However before she can figure out what she wants her fiance commits suicide by jumping off a bridge. Since that day she's lived with the guilt of her father's death and now the death of her Fiance. She returns home vowing to stay far away from her old boyfriend Ben but when he shows up the old spark is there but she's not ready for anything more. At her insistence she pushes for their relationship to be just hook up's because she doesn't want to hurt him. Her nights are plagued with nightmares of her father and Fiance which is causing her to drink to numb herself. Can Molly deal with her nightmares so she can have a chance at happy ever after or will she run again.

I really Loved Derailed!!! Like super loved it. Poor Molly I totally connected with her on a whole different level because we share the loss of a parent as teens and our last words weren't the best choices either. However I learned to accept and move on and I really liked seeing her deal with the loss, even though deep down I think she always knew it wasn't her fault. I think every girl deserves a Ben he's such a great character he may be a little over protective but who can blame him when he doesn't want to lose her again. I loved how smooth the flow of the book is, I lost track of time reading while my little one was asleep. The book is well written that anyone teen or adult will enjoy reading it.  This is my first book by Alyssa Rose Ivy but I'm a instant fan and look forward to checking out her other books. I cheated and check out the next book in the series Veer and I can't wait to get my hands on it, since it involves character from the first book. Plus I love a happy ever after and this one had me in tears it was just perfect.

This and That

This and That

I decided to do my own little daily or semi daily post that shows a recap of my posts and a teaser or other thought I wanted to share.

Yesterday I finished Derailed by Alyssa Rose Ivy (Review). I really enjoyed it more then I expected I would.


Currently I'm reading Betwixt by Melissa Pearl (Goodreads) well my kindle is reading to me while I type this so I guess I'm listening since I like to multitask.

I even have a teaser from Betwixt for today.
at 17% in so far so good.

Dropping his bag on the floor, Dale whispers, "What's happened to you?"

I'm not sure. I mean, my mind is here, but my body...." my voice starts to quiver, "I'm lost in the forest somewhere and I don't know how I got there. I can't remember anything."

 Let's see what else hmmm...

I've been working on my challenge lists because I love to create lists. It's one of those things I could do for hours and making lists of books super fun.

I found a few more challenges I even found a challenge for you to do your challenges. It's so tempting to do them all. I think I'm going to try for 250 since I did 100 this year but I'll be closer to 170 by the end of the year, and I think I can do more since I have so many I want to read. My idea goal is like 21 a month which is what I'm currently reading.

The last few days I've been playing with making bracelets but now I'm thinking of turning them into bookmarks instead of bracelets I never wear. I'm crafty so I'm always looking for something new to try.

Time to make a coconut latte and finish Betwixt because I'm curious to see to see how it ends.

I know that a lot of you have a huge pile of books that you want to read/review, but it understandably takes a while to get around to reading them all - here you can give a book (or two!) some of the publicity that it deserves, even if you haven't read it yet!

I stumbled across this one this evening and thought it was a great idea and would love to it to my regular line up. So the real question was which book did I want to give a little extra publicity too. 

I've been slacking and not doing this post the last few weeks. I can blame it started with turkey day but that's not really true. I've just been kind of in a funk but I'm going to try and pull myself out of it.

This week I picked one of the books I can't even remember how long it's been since I purchased that maybe 2011 or earlier I can't remember but I do know I've not read it yet but keep saying I will.

Will Starflower prove the key to Lady Gleamdren's rescue? Or will the dark power from which she flees destroy both her and her rescuer?

Review 

I received Starflower in return for an honest review as part of the blog tour hosted by Prism Book Tours in return for a honest review. Hri Sora is a powerful dragon who has been in a state of sleep since she burned down her city which she was trying to protect. Her father took her dragon form and wings leaving with just her mortal body. Desperate to have them back Hri Sora makes a deal with her father that she will bring him back a treasure to add to his hoard. Her plan is to kidnap the Queen's cousin since she knows what the treasure looks like and use her to retrieve it. Hri Sora easily captures Gleamdren her next challenge is to get her to give up the treasure so she can have her true form. 

When the woman he loves is kidnapped Eanrin sets out to find Gleamdren before Glomar can rescue her. Eanrin isn't a warrior he's instead a immortal faerie poet who happens to also be part cat. He comes across a girl who has drunk from the enchanted river and even though he want's to find Gleamdren he can't help feeling a little sorry for the mortal girl and taking her to the serpent witch who owes him a favor. Thank's to the serpents collection of frog princess the girl is woken from her enchanted slumber. It's after the pair escape from the serpents land that he learns she's under a curse and can't speak but he's able to figure out her name Starflower. Deciding he can't leaver he takes her along with him on his journey to find Gleamdren fearing what would happen if he leaves her behind.  As they get closer to finding Gleamdren they learn that Starflower is tied to Hri Sora which could change everything.

I was a little nervous starting Starflower because it's not the first in the series it's the fourth book, and I hate to read out of order. Thankfully it can be read as a standalone for what I understand it's almost a prequel to the first three but honestly I'm not sure. I wasn't sure about Eanrin at first he kind of has a big ego, then again I guess if I was the Prince of Poet's I would have a high opinion of myself. So I wasn't sure I was going to like his character however when he met Starflower, he showed his compassionate side which I really liked. Startflower is one of those characters you just can't help loving because she's been through so much but she keeps coming back. It's a fast paced action packed adventure with a little love story tossed in the mix. I really enjoyed the world of Goldstone Woods, since it's new to me I found it refreshing and exciting. However I've not read the first three but after reading Starflower I will be checking them out when I get some downtime because I enjoyed this one so much. I had a hard time putting it down and was able to finish over the coarse of a evening because I wanted to know how their adventure would end.

So many reading challenges for 2013

So I can't decide what I want to do for the challenges for 2013 and what I don't have time to do. I've found so many awesome ones I kind of want to do them all but I don't know if I have enough hours in the day to read for them all but in the next few weeks I plan to have it all figured out.

 I've been looking at my TBR shelf for that challenge trying to see if I can fit them into other challenges I want to do. As you can see I have a huge pile I plan to read over the next few months. I've been getting the well you don't need anymore till you read what you have from the hubby time to fix that.

Everyone knows that the only way to Etalpalli is by the River, so it’s off to the River I go!”

With a determination found only in a cat that has absolutely set its mind on something, Eanrin proceeded through the forest, following his nose toward water. After a quick search for a safe Path, he found one fit for the folk of Rudiobus, a Path probably built by one of the Merry People long ages ago, or at least by someone friendly with King Iubdan. This Path, he sensed, would lead him safely enough.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

This week I was reading through the new books for 2013 trying to make a list for the debut challenge of all the books I want to read next year and it's a long list. I stumbled across this one even though it's a long way off it sounds awesome.
