Tasha regarded her levelly. "No. I'm suggesting the Moroi and the guardians go fight the Strigoi before they come."

A guy in his twenties who looked like a Ralph Lauren spokesmodel shot up. I would have wagered money he was royal. No one else could have afforded blond highlights that perfect. He untied an expensive sweater from around his waist and draped it over the back of his chair. "Oh," he said in a mocking voice, speaking out of turn. "So, you're going to just give us clubs and stakes and send us off to do battle?"
Tasha shrugged. "If that's what it takes, Andrew, then sure." A sly smile crossed her pretty lips. "But there are other weapons we can learn to use, too. Ones the guardians can't."

The look on his face showed how insane he thought that idea was. He rolled his eyes. "Oh yeah? Like what?"

Her smile turned into a full-fledged grin. "Like this."

She waved her hand, and the sweater he'd placed on the back of his chair burst into flames.

He yelped in surprise and knocked it to the floor, stamping it out with his feet.

There was a brief, collective intake of breath throughout the room. And then … chaos broke out.

I'm enchanted by the vampires in this series. The whole concept is exciting and captivating. I'm looking to finish the whole series this month.

ICED

A bargain gone wrong leads a highborn Unseelie faerie to life as an enslaved bartender with a taste for revenge.

JINXED

Just when Jinx needs a carefree girl's night out with Ivy, a smoking hot demon tries to buy her a drink. She really is the unluckiest human on the planet.

December TBR list
I'm planning on reading 25 but we all know have that goes.
I've got a lot of books on this list to read and hope to finish them all by the end of the month if not more.

Challenges
My year long challenge of 200 books doesn't look like I'm going to make it since I'm only at 154. This year has been harder for reading but with my hubby returning to flying and having a better routine things should be better.

Goodreads Games/ Reading challenges
Speed Reading - last week
Monopoly - going strong
Bingo - Loving this one still hope for a few weeks.
Dusty Bookshelf - Divergent & Pushing the Limits
Finish that Series - Vampire Academy

I'm a glutton and I love them. I haven't even started looking at 2014 challenges.
I noticed with this year to much pressure so maybe not as many.
I also need to update mine as well.

End of year goals
Survive the rest of the year and read a bunch.
Get everything ready for the new year!

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren't) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then!

For my monopoly game I was fortunate enough to land on B.O Railroad so the girl I'm playing against got to pick a stinky book. So far she picked a real winner this one is horrible. I'm not sure if it's the writing style or the story but it's been a struggle. Granted I'm not very far into the story yet but it's been tough.

Review: Every Other Day

Title - Every Other Day
Author - Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Genre - YA Paranormal
Format - Paperback
Published - January 1st 2011
Challenge - Bingo / SSS

Synopsis

Every other day, Kali D’Angelo is a normal sixteen-year-old girl. She goes to public high school. She argues with her father. She’s human.

And then every day in between . . . she’s something else entirely.

Though she still looks like herself, every twenty-four hours predatory instincts take over and Kali becomes a feared demon-hunter with the undeniable urge to hunt, trap, and kill zombies, hellhounds, and other supernatural creatures. Kali has no idea why she is the way she is, but she gives in to instinct anyway. Even though the government considers it environmental terrorism.

When Kali notices a mark on the lower back of a popular girl at school, she knows instantly that the girl is marked for death by one of these creatures. Kali has twenty-four hours to save her, and unfortunately she’ll have to do it as a human. With the help of a few new friends, Kali takes a risk that her human body might not survive . . . and learns the secrets of her mysterious condition in the process.

Review

Kali isn't’t always human every other day she transform into a demon hunter that makes her strong and powerful. No one knows she’s different not even her father. When her father’s co-workers daughter shows up with a Chupacabra bite she does the only thing she can think to do and use her blood to call the bite into body. Assuming when she transforms the next day her blood will kill the Chupacabra healing her as good as new. The bite has a few side effects a voice in her head only she can hear and the craving for blood. All she has to do is make it through the day before she transforms and heals.

When the girls encounter a dragon that shouldn't be there to start with it also eats people as well as breath’s fire which is also not possible. Kali should know her day is going to be anything but easy. Kali learns that they injected girls with the Chupacabra in hopes of finding a viable specimen she just happens to be the one who has it. As if having to worry about making is through the day isn’t enough, she’s being hunted by the ones who gave Bethany the bite. When the chase ends in a crash they assume that Kali is dead having broken her neck they leave her on the road.

When she wakes up the craving to hunt is strong as is her craving for blood. While the bite doesn’t heal completely, it doesn’t kill her either. She quickly hunts down a basilisk and can’t fight the strong urge to drink its blood. The voice in her head’s name is Zev she learns that he’s like her but being held captive by Chimera Biomedical. She has only 24 hours to save Bethany and Zev before she’s human again as well as stop Chimera Biomedical?

I like Kali she’s got dealing with a lot being torn between two worlds not fitting into either. She’s my favorite kind of character “the flawed kick ass heroine” there is just something about them. I really connected with Kali she’s smart and strong and selfless risking her own life for that of someone she doesn’t know. The girls at school Bethany and Skyler are unique and enhance the story. I wasn’t sure about Zev but as the book progressed I found myself liking him too.

I’m not a huge demon fan so this week’s bingo had me a little nervous. I've had Every Other Day but since it’s a demon book it’s been on the back burner. The idea of Kali I found very interesting a girl who walks in two worlds human one day another demon slayer. The author has created engaging characters that you can’t help cheering on through the story. I found the whole story captivating from start to finish it’s an action packed story. The way the author mixes the human world with the monster world is unique and exciting. She’s filled the story with demons, dragons, crazy scientists, stranger silver eyed guys, cheerleaders, and tops it all off with zombies. Every Other Day was hard for me to put down it kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end. I know this is a standalone but I’d be curious to read more about Kali because I enjoyed her story.
