Think Out Loud Fridays #1

Think Out Loud is a weekly meme created by Thinks Books for bloggers to be able to break out of the blogging bubble and promotes thinking outside of the box. You can use this feature to post things you ordinarily wouldn't. For example, if you usually write book reviews, step outside your comfort zone. Post a funny story, a rant, a cool pic or video, ANYTHING. Consider it a complete free for all.

I love this idea so much plus I've been looking for a perfect post for Friday and this might just be perfect for the weekend. So one of my favorite things to do is try new things in the kitchen, over the last few weeks since my oldest is home from school we've been trying all kinds of new foods. So far the biggest hit was the Gummy Candy aka gummy bears.

Gummy Candy Recipe

Ingredients
1 3 oz box of flavored gelatin
2 1/4 oz packages of unflavored gelatin
1/3 cup of water
2 candy molds.

Place 1/3 cup of water in a small sauce pan, add jello and unflavored gelatin mix into the water so it's all absorbed for about 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes place pan over medium heat stirring till all the gelatin is dissolved, only takes a few minutes.

Remove from heat, I poured the liquid into a measuring cup with a spout then fill each of the molds.

Let them sit a few minutes while they cool and set up a bit, then slide them in the freezer till they are solid about 30 minutes.

When solid pull them out of the freezer, dust the backs with cornstarch so they aren't sticky, don't go with powder sugar it just get's icky I've learned. Then pull them out and eat them or store them.

I was worried they would melt since it's jello but they held up fine on a hot day, however they never last long.

Our next batch we are going to try fruit juice instead of water, and sugar free jello.
