Lot's of bloggers do Teaser Tuesday but I though since I read so many books a week. I'd like to do more of a daily teaser/recap/this and that kind of thing. I'm still working out the kinks so it's more of a work in progress.


Happy Late Turkey Day!

Thursday morning I had every intention of putting up at least my From the Review Pile & Throwback Thursday posts but it didn't happen as I expected. I ended up spending all morning cooking a variety of desserts, then we rushed off to spend the day in the city (San Francisco) with my hubby's family. I admit I slacked. Today instead of catching up I spent the day hanging out with the kids and hubby while we lounged around the house which is kinda awesome. However I missed my little blog.

The other day I received a book I've been dying to read for review from one of my favorite authors. I love the cover plus it sounds amazing. I can't wait to read it.

Review 

I received Awaken as part of the blog tour hosted by YANovel Reader in return for a honest review. In the next chapter of Stasia's journey we have learned that she's to be the next leader for the Tydes. She will need to complete her essence and become immortal which requires her traveling to the underworld. In this book Stasia has her roommates for support as well as her boyfriend Finn who she feels she can really be herself with. A new girl shows up in school Nadia, after accidentally getting a look into her mind she sense's she filled with darkness but it may be more evil. As the day gets closer for Stasia to make her journey into the underworld she starts seeing ghosts. She's also being haunted by the reveries of a man who her soul knows but she doesn't.

When Stasia overhears Nadia talking to to the Sire leader about her she knows something is up and that Finn knows something she doesn't. When asked about the secret he denies knowing anything and plays it off that she's using it to get at Stasia. As the story progresses Stasia has several encounters one where she learns why Nadia is really tormenting her, one that could change her future forever. With the help of her friends Stasia will take a incredible journey into a world full of mystery and danger only to have to make the biggest decision of her life. 

This book is so much darker then the first one filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing. I really liked Forsaken but Awaken had to take it to another level wow. Stasia grows so much as a character from where she started in the first book I felt I really could connect with her. The whole cast of character are great they add so much to the story and I kind of wish I had friends like Stasia that would follow me into the underworld. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about Stasia and Finn as a couple but now I can't see it any other way they just have to be together. I found Awaken to be a little darker more intense than the first book, but I really like that it was hard for me to put it down. I loved the fast paced draw you in that I got from Awaken it just kept me wanting more even at the end with the cliffhanger it's still all I can think about. It's such a well written series that takes a new twist on mythology creating a complex story. I just really loved this book; it's driving me crazy to not have the next book.

She is the author of the DAUGHTERS OF THE SEA trilogy, which includes FORSAKEN, AWAKEN (Oct 2012), and CHOSEN (Winter 2012).  She loves all books, but really enjoys writing young adult, paranormal romances.  She’s loved to write for as long as she can remember.  Her first published work was her poem RED in second grade (you guessed it - it was a poem about the color red - life altering, right?) that won her 5 gold stars and a spot in her elementary school's poetry book. That's when her addiction to the written word officially began.  She was the only kid in fifth grade that actually enjoyed diagramming sentences. Go ahead and laugh - its okay.

When she’s not writing she’s making jewelry, painting, feeding her addiction to sweet tea, watching the Discovery Channel, or going on random adventures in the mountains of North Carolina with her amazing husband. Review 

I received Forsaken as part of the blog tour hosted by YA Novel Reader in return for a honest review. Hanna doesn't know who her parents are, nor does she know where she comes from since she was abandon'd on the steps to the police station at 8 months old. From the time she was little Hannah has bounced between foster home till she thirteen and adopted by the Withmans a well off family. Hannah now has a sister her age and parents who care but she's spent so much building up walls she doesn't let them in. It's when she's seventeen that things start to change she starts having horrific nightmares as well as blacking out. After a night out with the family that ends in a black out Dee her adopted mother decides it's time to get a new therapist for Hannah. 

Hannah arrives to meet her new therapist who asks her four questions then decides that it's time to send her away to a boarding school for other teens like herself. Hannah heads to Bald Head Island feeling more alone until she arrives at the main land greeted by her new mentor Kira who is nothing like Hannah expected makes her feel welcome. Upon arriving at the island Kira takes Hannah to her office to get her set up for school, and Hannah decides since this is her chance to start over she wants to change her name to the one from her dreams Anastasia. She is introduced to her new roommates who she instantly feels connected with but she's doesn't realize how connected she is until she catches one of the moving sand with her hand. 

Anastasia learns that there is more going on at The House of Lorelei then just school as she learns that the students are descendants of mythical sea Gods and Goddesses including her. She learns about the different types of beings, they are all half human but each faction is a little different and have their own characteristics. Anastasia finds herself falling for Finn who is a Sons of Daimon who happens to be the boy she's been dreaming about for three years. When a mentor is found dead Stasia realizes she saw her death before it happened and she wasn't the only one either. Stasia sets out to find out what is really going on at Lorelei what the Siren leaders are hiding and who she really is. As she uncovers the truth, learning who she can trust as well as her destiny it will change her life forever. 

This book just screams read me, it's so enchanting, the synopsis is awesome I couldn't wait to read Forsaken. I read breezed through Forsaken in a day reading when I could find time because I wanted to know more about what's going to happen next in Anastasia's adventure. I really like Anastasia as a character I found her well developed my heart went out to her when I learned about her troubled past, and I was really happy when she found the school. I like that she's built strong relationships with her roommates, they bring a great aspect to the story supporting Anastasia. I really liked Finn's character he's Stasia's love interest in the book, he comes off as a bad guy who is so great for her. I really liked the concept for the story-line, I've read a lot of Greek Gods books but I've never read any mythical books where the characters are connected to water Gods/Goddess. I found the idea for the series a unique concept that is new and exciting. I really enjoyed Forsaken and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

Opening Teaser 

Of all the things I had to face that day, the prospect of sticking my hand down someone else's pants as part of my Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, just didn't seem right. Mind you, no one was wearing those filthy pants, but even a gal in therapy should have limits. Today anyway. 

According to my therapist, I'd somehow give in to my obsessive- compulsive behaviors less often if I occasionally went out of my comfort zone. Still, in my opinion, my current assignment wouldn't help me that much. 

Review 

I received Kept in return for an honest review from Edelweiss. Nat's back and this time she's getting ready for a test that if she passes will let her back in the pack but her father is missing. With the help of her brother they team up to find out what their mother knows, and learn that their dad has taken off to take care of his moon debt. However he's been missing and her mom is really upset, so they take off after him. Yet Nat doesn't feel right taking Alex since his baby is due to be born and attempts to make a dash with him to take care of it on her own. 

Yet Alex and now Thorn catch up with her before she can get to Atlantic city to find her dad. Alex is one thing but having Thorn along is more than a girl can handle especially when it's hands off. After getting the information they need from the Russian werewolf Alex heads for home and the pair set off to see if they can find Nat's dad. 

When Nat and Thorn show up at the goblins place they learn it was a trap to catch them and use Nat to get her father to finish the moon debt. Upon returning to the Russian werewolf they find Nat's dad and he's in bad shape refusing to kill someone he used to be friends with. Nat trying to save her father accepts the moon debt, sending her on a mission to deliver cargo in twenty four hours but on the drive she is attacked my Imps. Thankfully she calls in Nick her white wizard friend, Abby a muse, and Heidi a mermaid to help her deliver the cargo. However what should be easy isn't when they are being attacked by imps and chased by dark elves, and that's just to start. Not only does Nat have to worry about saving her family she has the added stress of the upcoming trial that will give her the chance at becoming part of the pack. Will Nat be able to save her family? Will she join the pack?

I can't say enough how much I love Nat she's a great character.  Everything about her is so well created she's so likable I just love reading her stories. I feel like Nat has grown a lot as a character since the first book. This book just draws you in right from the start it's full of action, mystery, a little romance and a very special werewolf. I love the use of the different supernatural characters in the book they just add to the story-line. I really liked Nick but who can go wrong with the sexy werewolf Thorn, plus they are in love it's sweet to think about soul-mates. I find Nat a refreshing character because she has her issues but when it comes down to it she is willing to step out of her shell and do what it takes.  I really hope to see another book in the series because the Coveted series is one of my favorite werewolf books because Nat is just a amazing character.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases we're eagerly anticipating. In my case not so patiently waiting for the new releases, which I lack.

I really like the cover for this weeks Waiting on Wednesday. I've looked at the cover a few times but never have I read the synopsis till the other day, and I had to add it to my TBR list. It sounds a little creepy, but it could have potential. I'm crossing my fingers.

I love the main character Nat she's one of my favorite werewolf characters I think of all time. She's a unique character who happens to be a hoarder of holiday items like I am with books.

Today's Teaser is:

According to my therapist, I'd somehow give in to my obsessive- compulsive behaviors less often if I occasionally went out of my comfort zone. Still, in my opinion, my current assignment wouldn't help me that much. 

These are the first two paragraphs in the book instead of deeper in I thought they were perfect to draw you in to wanting to know more. I love to help with a little extra publicity. Kept also has a awesome Blog tour going on this month check it out (here). It's such a exciting cover.

I also signed up to do a few challenges for 2013 and I've come up with a few of my own too.

The Nicholas Sparks Reading Challenge I've never read one of his book, but I've heard great things and watched most of the movies.My mother-in-law is a huge fan of his work so I thought it would be a good bonding idea for both of us. Review: Undeadly

Life at Nekyia has its plusses. Molly has her own personal ghoul, for one. Rick follows her there out of the blue, for another...except, there's something a little off about him. When students at the academy start to die and Rath disappears, Molly starts to wonder if anything is as it seems. Only one thing is certain—-Molly's got an undeadly knack for finding trouble....

Review 

I received Undeadly for review from Netgalley in return for a honest review. Molly is excited for her upcoming sweet sixteenth birthday when on the night before the party she has the fated Anubis dream.  At her birthday party she meets a reaper named Rath who thinks she's odd because only reapers can see other reapers and she's not dead yet. Rath is at the party to reap a soul but not just any soul that of Molly's would be boyfriend. When Molly see's Rich crash to the ground dead she freaks and uses her necro magic to pull part of his soul and put it back inside of him saving his life she thinks. However saving his soul takes a lot out of her and she passes out to awake in her room. 

Molly's father summons her downstairs where she meets for the first time her mother’s parents. When she was a child her mother became estranged from her parents when they didn't see eye to eye on her choices. She also learns that the man who she's thought all this time to be her father isn't her father at all. Plus her grandparents want her to go off to Nekyia a rich boarding school to train to be a proper Necro. Molly is unhappy about leaving her friends and Rick but she's very upset about being lied to by her dad so she accepts her grandparents offer. 

At Nekyia Molly has the use of the family ghoul, she's put up in one of the best dorm rooms, required to join the elite clubs, and even has special training classes with Rath. Life couldn't be better until Rick followers her to school, and bodies start showing up. Will Molly be able to figure out what's killing the students before it gets her, and will she be able to stop the set like Anubis implied. 

I really enjoyed reading Undeadly, to be fair I've had it on my kindle for months I just haven't been able to bring myself to it because of all the hype I've read about it. However I was surprised it was much better than I expected. I instantly connected with Molly she's just one of those characters you can't help not liking. Then we have Rick I didn't care for him at all and I was super happy when we were introduced to Rath I really liked his character and hope for more from him. Plus how cool would it be to have the magic to make zombies? I would so want to do that even though zombies scare me. I found the book very well written it's one of those a teen would love as well as a adult. I really liked the concept of the world that the characters live in, who wouldn't want to take classes on raising the dead, it's a unique concept that I found refreshingly new. Overall it's a great first in the series and I look forward to reading more about Molly in future books.

I received Once Upon a Second Chance as part of the blog tour hosted by AToMR Tours in return for a honest review.  Eight years have changed since Julia’s life changed forever and the name staring up at her is about to bring her little world crashing down. Her newest client for work just happens to be the man she almost married but didn’t and who she can’t stop dreaming or thinking about. Even though her sister talked to into she still regrets breaking up with Nick Kerkley because to her he was perfect and every guy she meets doesn’t even come close. With the impending arrival she fakes a sickness to get out of the office only to learn the next day her client will be arriving for the meeting after all.

Julia heads into the meeting a little sick to her stomach but when Nick takes no notice to her she thinks he’s moved on and doesn’t remember her. On the weekend house inspection things heat up for Nick and Bree who happens to be one of Julia’s best friends but for her Nick still acts as if he doesn’t know her. Julia is torn between telling him how she feels and pretending she’s gotten over him when Bree is injured by a jelly fish thanks to Julia’s quick thinking she saves her and on the ride to the hospital Nick starts to let on he does remember her but before she can tell him how she feels she sees him kissing Bree. In a panic Julia flees from the house to spend a vacation with her best friend Susan and her family only checking her email once to see an email from Bree telling her she’s in love who Julia assumes is Nick. Upon returning back to the city she learns that Bree is getting married to who she assumes is Nick.

OMG I loved this book. I could so read it over right now it was that good. I love Julia she’s a great character because she acts like a real woman would act if she was in her position. I know I would if it was me.  The story has some fun twists and turns I didn’t see coming as well as a little magic twisted in the story. It’s a clean romance my favorite kind, so anyone would be able to read it, and I suggest that if you like a quick fun romance story this is the one. I started it right before bed and didn’t put it down till I finished reading which was past when I should have been asleep since I have to get up early. I can’t say enough how much I loved this book it’s so well written and the story flows along so smoothly. Plus I love the characters they have great personality’s and add a lot of depth to the story.
