Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year!

I can't believe how crazy 2020 was. I feel like we were living a book that we are still far away from the final chapter. Between real life and home schooling my now 11 year old with 5th has eaten my soul. I miss reading, blogging, baking being crafty and a big part of who I am. I'm ready to re-find my love of my passions this year. I've been looking forward to the new year for months, new goals, and new adventures.

My goals are simple this year.

Blog more.

Bake more.

Craft more.

More original content.

I'm looking forward to the new year. I'm ready to re-find myself my loves again. Plus I have so many books I want to read.

I didn't love the change to bloggers format I find it frustrating at times and makes me nutty. Creating new content and modify my old has been rough. I'm determined to get used to it this year and evolve with it.

Here is to the new year. New challenges. New Adventures.

Diary Entry

I've been such a slacker with this post. I wanted to keep it an update a couple times a week at least and that hasn't been happening. This year I'm going to do better. Diary Entry is a random post which I share what I'm reading, bookish news, random thoughts, teasers, covers, and some not so bookish stuff.

Reading

Currently I'm reading
Silver Moon Light by Marah Woolf (Goodreads) Not very far I was going to start yesterday but I had book club so I'm looking forward to spending the day reading.

Bookclub
I had bookclub last night. Our last book was Revival by Stephen King. Sadly I wasn't able to get into it but that's ok can't love every book. This time around we are reading When by Victoria Laurie. Not my choice but it should be good.

Blog
I've got lots of updating projects this week and hope to get them all done. Need to finish off my January projects. Need to finish my discussion post but I'll get it done this weekend for sure. I also created a discussion image now keep in mind I'm not very graphic skilled to start with but it's not terrible. It's not bad but not amazing. Hopefully as time goes by the more I practice the better I will get.

Coyer
Currently I've read 5 eligible books.
I'm planning on taking part in the Twitter chat today. It's a great group of ladies. I'm really enjoying this challenge. It's given me the chance to make some new bookish friends which I've been desperately in need of.

Goals/Challenges
I'm a little behind on my reading only 8 so far this year. I hope to get at least 5 this week if not more. I'm still in need of some blog updating which is my big goal of January. My old reviews need to be revamped and updated at least when I first started they are bad.

Craftiness
I'm a craft project nut but I'm kind of all over the place this year. Here are a few I'm currently working on. One is my cross stitch that I need to finish from last year it shouldn't have taken me so long but I've been slacking. I'm hoping to finish it this week. Just need to finish my castle and add a fairy.
The black crochet is going to be a purse that I want to cross stitch on. I saw a Pinterest picture of it and decided yup need to try it.
I need to make a few more bookmarks but I took some of the holiday wrapping paper and made these two.

Cover Love
I can't decide if I love the cover or the synopsis more.
Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein (Goodreads)

Forget everything you thought you knew about genies!

Azra has just turned sixteen, and overnight her body lengthens, her olive skin deepens, and her eyes glisten gold thanks to the brand-new silver bangle that locks around her wrist. As she always knew it would, her Jinn ancestry brings not just magical powers but the reality of a life of servitude, as her wish granting is controlled by a remote ruling class of Jinn known as the Afrit.

To the humans she lives among, she’s just the girl working at the snack bar at the beach, navigating the fryer and her first crush. But behind closed doors, she’s learning how to harness her powers and fulfill the obligations of her destiny.

Mentored by her mother and her Zar “sisters”, Azra discovers she may not be quite like the rest of her circle of female Jinn . . . and that her powers could endanger them all. As Azra uncovers the darker world of becoming Jinn, she realizes when genies and wishes are involved, there’s always a trick.

 Kindle Freebies
I'm such a sucker for a kindle freebie I just can't help clicking them. These are currently free at the time of this post.
Anywhere But Here by Jason Morrow (Amazon)
A Brush with the Moon by Raquel Lyon (Amazon)
Runes by Ednah Walters (Amazon)
Elsker by S.T. Bende (Amazon)

It's the weekend no plans other than reading, more reading and updating the TRD.

Diary Entry

I've been such a slacker with this post. I wanted to keep it an update a couple times a week at least and that hasn't been happening. This year I'm going to do better. Diary Entry is a random post which I share what I'm reading, bookish news, random thoughts, teasers, covers, and some not so bookish stuff.

Reading:

Just Finished Golem in my Glovebox by R.L. Naquin (Review) . It's the 4th installment in the series and one of my favorites.

My ss challenge needs a "S" author and with all The Pretty Little Liars talk I decided to give the series a shot. Currently only about 20% in but the girls don't even look right....is it that hard to make them the same in the tv show?
Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard

Coyer
Currently I've read 3 eligible books towards Coyer. Yikes I was hoping to do better. I still need to read 3 historical books for the read a thon.

Challenges
I'm currently only 6 books in this year but I have finished Fur & Fang plus mythology's books for the month. I still have a lot to read and half the month to go. At least I'm not behind yet according to goodreads.

Doing Bloggiesta this time around. So far I haven't done any of the stuff on my list. I hope to get most if not all of it done today. Check out what I want to try to do (Here)

I'm trying to be more active and using twitter more and more each day. I turned off all my auto blog shares so now it's only stuff I share. Woot for me. I didn't know it was even doing to blog spam. I would much rather spam my own junk.
Cleaning out the email and than on to organize some of my bloggy stuff.

San Fran Golden Gate Author event
This fall is the San Fran Golden Gate Author event. I really want to go but I don't know a lot of the authors on this. So between now and than I hope to check out the ones I don't know. I'm also hoping we are still in the area when it rolls around.
My first author I'm going to read is: Mary Ting ~ Crossroads

Cover Love
I'm in love with this one. I even picked up the eBook because the synopsis sound really good. It also has a alternate cover. I'm not sure how I feel about it. What do you think?

The Forest Bull
by Terry Maggert (Goodreads

Three lovers. Two immortals. One mystery.
When Ring Hardigan isn’t making sandwiches for, and with, his two partners, Waleska and Risa (they’re cool like that), he’s got a busy schedule doing the dirty work of sending immortals to the ever after. Wally and Risa provide linguistics, logistics, and finding the right place for him and his knife.
A reclusive Baron from the timelost forests of Europe asks for their help—find a stolen collection of jewelry, and find the thief—his daughter Elizabeth, an immortal of purest evil who wants nothing less than control of Hell itself. With the help of a 2400 year old succubus hooker named Delphine, they might just live long enough to what is evil, who is human, and exactly who wants to reign in hell.

I've been slacking not sure why when it comes to this post. However I plan to change that this year. This month is more of a transition I plan to have everything streamlined by February.

Diary Entry

December 11th  2014
Less than a month left. I just don't know where the month has gone. So much crazy stuff has happened over the last 11 months. Hopefully next year will be boring so I can get in more reading.

Blog cover update
I'm just playing but I needed change. I don't know how I feel yet. I think I'm going to keep working on it. I hope to get more updating customizing for before the new year. I'm still tweaking it but I hope to have it ready to go before the new year.

Bookish updates
Not close to hitting my goal so I need to read every moment of the day if I'm going to just make my goal. So far not off to a good start. This will be my first year not finishing it unless I sneak a few novella's in at the end.

Currently reading
Pawn by Aimee Carter
(Goodreads)

YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There's only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that's not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she's only beginning to understand.

I'm not very far but so far I'm enjoying the book. I'm just a little worried a love triangle is on the horizon which I typically avoid.

New to me
I've been exploring some of the urban fantasy/fantasy novels and have come across several that look like must reads. This one sound really interesting and the cover isn't bad.

Henge by Realm Lovejoy
(Goodreads)

Modern-day Camelot. Where knights no longer carry swords. Magic is dangerous. And those who seek control are not to be trusted.

Sixteen-year-old Morgan le Fay is a fire user. An ordinary girl with an extraordinary skill, she has the ability to create and command fire at will. Her dream is to become the Maven—the right hand of the future King Arthur. In the chance of a lifetime, Morgan is selected to join Arthur’s Round, an elite group of young magic users from which the new Maven will be chosen.

Along with the other fire, water, and wind users in Arthur’s Round, Morgan is rigorously trained and tested. The handsome Merlin, a brilliant water user, takes a particular interest in her. Is his friendship to be trusted, or is Merlin simply trying to win the position of Maven for himself? Among the many rivals Morgan faces is the current Maven, Mordred, who seems determined to see her fail.

But Morgan has a secret—years ago, her mother was executed for using fire magic, and Morgan’s desire for justice makes her more than ready to take on the challenge before her. Can she prevail in Camelot’s tests of survival and magic? Only time—and Morgan’s powerful fire—will tell.

Beautiful Covers
I tend to gravitate to beautiful covers. I wanted to share one of my new favorites.
Relish by Kate Evangelista (Goodreads) - One of my favorite series that I happen to be impatiently wait for to come out.

Goals
I'm scedualling blog posts which is new for me. I kind of like it. It's still new I typically pre write them the day before or mull them over for weeks than share them. With the upcoming holidays I don't know how much time I'll have so I want to get them done early.

Diary Entry

November 2nd  2014
I've been neglecting my blog recently. I kind of turned it into a job while the hubby was gone. Now that he's due home in the near future things are sliding into place and I find myself missing the fun of reading and blogging. So new month time to rediscover my love of books and blogging.

I've started my goal list for 2014
I want to start writing more discussion posts I've done a few over the years but not very many and it's the one thing I wish I did more of.
Start using instagram.
I want to be more organized since I've been a little slacking on that aspect.
I've been playing with redesign idea's and hope to have a new one for the new year.
Revamp my review format.
I can see this growing dramatically before the end of the year.

Bookish updates
Currently at 111 books for 2014 hoping to add 20 more this month.

Getting ready to start
Vampire University by V.J. Erickson
Constantly moving as she grew up, Taylor had learned the hard way how to blend in wherever she went. But when she moves to VanCamp University for her freshman year of college, she immediately finds herself at the center of attention of nearly everyone she encounters. From the charismatic and mysterious Evans twins, to her quirky, clingy roommate Hannah, it seems that the people in Taylor's new college life have no intention of letting her be the wallflower.

It's not just blending in that Taylor has to worry about, though. At VanCamp University, there is more to the staff and students than meets the eye. While trying to adjust to her new life on campus, she finds herself in a world where fairy tales and reality collide, where gargoyles and leprechauns mingle with humans and vampires, and where nothing is as it first appears.

And as she discovers the truth of her own unusual heritage, Taylor learns that fairy tales are just the beginning.

Diary Entry

October 19th 2014
It's been a while since I had one of these posts.

The hubby is gone for 3 1/2 more weeks so I've been reading a little not as much as I would like and watching a lot of tv on netflix catching up because when the hubby comes home I won't have the time.

I've become addicted to Reign on the CW it's my new addiction.
I also really enjoy American Horror Story but I've only seen the first two seasons waiting for the 3rd to show up on netflix and I'm recording season 4 to watch when the hubby get's home.
I've also been watching the Originals because I love Vampire Diaries. I'm not sure how I feel about it but I did like some of the characters so I'll keep watching.
The CW has a few shows I have yet to check out but want to like Beauty and the Beast & The 100.
Yea I can't even begin to list the stuff I watch. I'm kind of a tv addict.

I know The Mortal Instruments is going to become a TV show. I have high hopes that the CW will be the one to pick it up because they have been sucessful with most of the shows they have.

Ok enough TV talk.... even though I can ramble about my shows for hours.

Bookish updates
So I've not been reading as much as I would like it's sad but true. I even reduced my goodreads challenge from 200 to 150 only because 150 was my 2013 goal and I exceed it. Seeing I was behind by 30 or more books each day and with some stuff I couldn't control keeping me from reading it was depressing.
I have 12ish days left in the month and hope to get at least 12 more books for the month. I am shooting for 22 books but at least 12.

Currently reading
I'm reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon have been for over a month. It's slow going. I would love to enjoy it but it's boring to me. Maybe I just haven't gotten into it enough.
I just finished Rush by Eve Silver and need to write my review.
I'm reading True Colors by Melissa Pearl and will be starting Tempting Fate by April White tomorrow. I need to get Outlander done so I can start on Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin.

Recently Added Books.
I can't seem to stop adding to my ever growing collection. I love to browse the freebie ebooks on amazon however it's gotten to the point that I have picked up so many I may never ever read them all. I have thousands of kindle freebies. As much as I love real books my kindle is convenient which is nice. I have the newer fire HDX, a paperwhite and my old keyboard. I don't use the keyboard as much since I have the paperwhite. I almost never read on the fire even though I planned to when I got it. Maybe one day however I do love seeing all the pretty book covers.

This week has been kind of boring I hope the new week will be more books and crafty stuff.

Diary Entry

October 2nd 2014

Just a quick update. It's the new month and I'm trying to get back into the groove of reading after last months lacking list of only 7. I have high hopes for October and lots of awesome books I want to read.

Currently reading
Diamonds Never Die by Jack Thompson
The fourth installment in my favorite detective series.
I plan to curl up with my coffee and read this morning finishing the book because it's one of those I hate to put down, but staying up all night wasn't a option.

Bookish ramblings
With so many exciting new books coming out this fall and already I've seen so many I can't wait to read next year I just don't know how I will find the time. I have a huge review stack how do you decide which book to read next. I'm working hard to clear my review pile and hope to get a good dent on them while the hubby is gone.

I've been super crafty while the hubby is gone. I'm going to start a bookish cross stitch this weekend.

Goodreads rambling
So I was looking at my TBR list it has over 6k books. On average if I read say 200 per year it will take me 30 years to just read this list. That's not including all the other books that will get added to my books over the next 30 years. It's kind of sad to think I won't be able to read my ever growing TBR list. Do you have a huge never ending reading list? I think I need to increase the amount of books I read per year. I need to learn to read faster.

Diary Entry

August 19th 2014

I've been so busy the last week I haven't been able to find the time to blog like I used to. My hubby is on leave for last week and this week. He's enjoying some time at home before heading off for the desert for a 60 day deployment in September. So reading has been a little difficult the last week. However I have big plans while he's deployed to read a lot of books. I hope to catch up my reading challenge for the year. Currently I'm 35 books behind which drives me nuts.

Currently reading
Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally - This one has been on my TBR list forever and it's a perfect choice for this weeks contemporary challenge. I'm only a few chapters in but already I'm hooked.

Bookish ramblings

I wanted to do Bout of Books 11 but I'm afraid with the hubby home I just won't have the time to read as many as I would like. However you can still sign up till tomorrow (here) I'm going to be following but not committing just in case I can't find enough time.

Goodreads rambling
I signed up for another round of SS team challenge
I've not done the FWYS or Dusty Bookshelf on Goodreads in months but decided it was time to get back in the groove.
I'm kind of a team challenge addict. I just can't seem to get enough. I currently have 2 active other games on scavenger and the other a genre challenge. Do you like challenges?

I came across a book today while looking at my TBR that I fell in love with the cover. Of course it just so happens to not be available. So it's on my wishlist. The author informed me when I asked on her facebook that it's being re-released. Now I'm impatiently waiting but wanted to share.

Roam

by Kimberly Stedronsky
(Goodreads)

West Perry has spent his existence searching for- and finding- Roam Camden. In every lifetime that he has found her, he has set out to save her- and in turn, save our world. He has failed six times throughout history to protect her from an immortal evil.

Now, in their last life together, seventeen-year-old Roam discovers a way to travel through time and try again, knowing she must save herself, the man that she loves...

And the life of their unborn child

School is just around the corner like starting tomorrow. I can't wait to have more free time to blog and comment.

Diary Entry

August 3rd 2014
It's been a long time since I wrote one of these posts. I've been such a huge slacker with the older one home it's been hard to find time to read or just blog for fun. However I think after almost half the summer I've gotten a routine. We also have the new puppy who is growing constantly. After lots of waiting my hubby has his blue tick and it's hard to believe she's already 4 months.
Grimm & Khaleesi
With the hubby out of town so much the last two months she's been keeping me busy. Hard to believe she's almost 40lbs. Going to be a big girl. Even after 8 weeks my big boy is still jealous of her but they love to play together. It's so odd best friends unless she get's near mommy. (he's sleeping by my feet as I write this my shadow)

So mostly this last few weeks has been reading, puppies, kids and baking. With the hubby home no baking, and limited reading but I'm trying to get it in when I can.

Currently reading

The Night Circus
by Erin Morgenstern
(Goodreads)

Synopsis
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.

But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway: a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them both, this is a game in which only one can be left standing. Despite the high stakes, Celia and Marco soon tumble headfirst into love, setting off a domino effect of dangerous consequences, and leaving the lives of everyone, from the performers to the patrons, hanging in the balance.

This one is for my book club and I've heard so many wonderful things about it.

Bookish ramblings
As I'm writing this blog it just so happens that Underworld is on TV just can't seem to get enough of the whole vampire concept recently. I prefer them not to sparkle but I don't need them to be all bad.

So I saw the 1st episode of Outlander is on indemand on TV today. I haven't read the book yet but I'm going to try to read ahead each week before it happens in the show. It is a really long book and with all my challenges currently I don't know if I will get to it all at once.

I'm planning on catching up on the Lux Series since I'm so behind with the new one coming out.

Goodreads rambling
I'm currently at 85 of my 200 books goal. I need to kick it up or I'm not going to meet the 200 goal. I guess this is what happens when I went from 150 to 200. Hopefully I'll be able to get a bunch in when the hubby deploys in a few months.

I feel like I just keep adding to my TBR list and it's never ending. However one day I hope to read them all. Currently I have roughly 7k books on my TBR list, reading at 200 per it will take me 35 years. Eeek.

Diary Entry

June 26th 2014
It's Thursday afternoon the hubby is sound asleep on the sofa with the dogs asleep in the living room. I have the kids working on summer school projects to get ahead for the next year. I made them each a spelling list one for the 8th grader and one for my 4 year old. I'm hoping to get the older one writing reviews. I'm also thinking of writing reviews of the kids books my little one and I read.
I've been watching more of Orange is the new Black on Netflix....such a weird show I still don't know how I feel. I like some of the characters and others no so much.

I heard they are trying to get Frostbitten the 2nd in the Vampire Academy series made into a movie. I'm super excited since I loved the series just worried it won't get the love that it deserves. I wish the CW would pick it up because it would fit great with Vampire Diaries and Supernatural.

I'm about halfway done with Unseen and so far I love it. May end up being my new favorite vampire series.

Unseen is next by Lauren Stewart (Goodreads)

Synopsis

Job security isn’t something Addison is all that concerned with.
Death, however? Yeah, death is a major concern.

After Addison finds a nearly-dusted vampire in the garbage outside her building, her ability to stay off the paranormal radar is deader than the vamp. Almost as dead as she’ll be if anyone thinks she put him there. Even though she’s basically shoving a stake into her own chest, she has no other choice but to get him indoors before he dusts in front of a human. And just when she thinks life couldn’t possibly get any worse, she finds out who he is.

As vampire king and Prime to all races of supernatural beings in this zone, Rhyse gets what he wants when he wants it. But after being ambushed, he wakes up chained to a bed with a hole in his chest and, unfortunately, he needs help to discover who tried to kill him. His only ally is his captor, someone unaware she has the power to bring down their entire world.

While a prophesized war brews in the Heights, Addison and Rhyse must decide which carries more risk—trusting someone who could destroy you or trusting someone who could love you?

* * *
The Heights not only protects the secrecy of vampires, shifters, demons, angels, and other supernaturals, it protects the humans unaware of the world hidden within their own.

Goodreads rambling
I was dinking around goodreads today because I set the laptop up instead of using my tablet or desk top. so while hanging with the hubby I did a reading. I've joined so many groups but I've noticed I haven't done much posting in most of them. So because I have all these great groups full of great people I've decided to start being more active. I'm going to read a few of the books  this month for some of the group reads so I have an excuse to be more social. So far the books I've chosen are:
The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine
Midnight Crossroad by Charlaine Harris

I've been making my list of to read books for July trying to get in as many as I can and stop slacking. I feel like I've been a huge slacker this year when it comes to read. I'm so far behind my goal this year. I've spent most of it chasing just hoping to catch up but by the end of summer I hope too.

Off to read! Have a great day!!!

June 22nd 2014

It's Sunday morning the puppy had me awake at the crack of dawn 4:30 to be exact way to early since I went to bed at midnight. I wish I had been able to go back to sleep but didn't happen so I made coffee to keep me awake. So far I've made cinnamon bread, and pizza dough is on the way. A nice relaxing day watching

Just finished
Fall into Darkness by Christopher Pike (Review)
I've always been a fan after reading Witch World (Review) I decided to sneak in a few of my favorites as a kid.

Next
I have a little cheat sheet that I've been adding books I want to read too. I have a few more days before the hubby get's home so I want to read a few more books. I'm really enjoying re-reading some of my childhood books. However I'm going to work on my review list so Unseen is next by Lauren Stewart (Goodreads). Unseen has a great cover and the synopsis sounds right up my ally.

The Heights not only protects the secrecy of vampires, shifters, demons, angels, and other supernaturals, it protects the humans unaware of the world hidden within their own.
