Two covers each unique. I can't decide which I like better.

"I'm not the hero in this story, girl. You'd do best to remember that."

At eighteen years old, I was murdered.

I wish my tale ended there.

However, my killer resuscitated me and sold me to the highest bidder, sentencing me to a world worse than Hell.

For the past two years, I've lived a life of torment as a man's property. I suffer in silence and wish for freedom, but I never break.

I can't.

I won't.

But then he arrives.

The first stranger since I was killed.

Elder Prest, a thief with a heart as black as his soul, arrives as a guest in our twisted home. He has business with my owner, but his interest lies in me. He pretends not to notice my bruises and hides his knowledge of what I am, but the way he watches me makes me feel more human than possession.

As his eyes tear through my walls and his voice demands answers, he challenges my owner for one night with me.

I've survived two years of torment because I no longer believe in hope, but Elder is the only man who promises me pleasure instead of pain.

Trusting him is dangerous, wanting him is deadly.

Is he my ticket to safety or my ultimate end?

Whoever he is, whatever he wants...I can't say no.
Review
I received Pennies in return for an honest review from the author.
Tasmin may not have had the best childhood growing up but she did what she needed to do to survive because that is who she is. On the night of her murder and rebirth everything she new changed taken from her mother thrust into a world she’d only heard of. Tasmin is now known as Pimlico forced into the world of human trafficking sold to the highest bidder as a slave.

Now known as Pim she is taken by a man who’s whole house is nothing but white, and now is his new prized possession. While Pim is determined to not let Master A have all of her buy refusing to speak at any cost. To keep that piece of herself she will have to survive what Master A has in store for her but it just may to be much for her. Her only glimmer of hope is when a dark stranger shows and after a night with her will he be able to leave her knowing what her future holds?

I love Pim she’s this girl who’s survived unimaginable pain and assault but while most would have given up she still holds that piece of herself. I kept hoping she would get the chance to get away but it never happened clearly he wasn’t her first slave girl. I like Elder way more than I should have because while he’s not a good guy he’s also not the same kind of bad guy that Master A is. They both have issues but maybe together they can find what they need to make each other whole again.

Pennies isn’t my typical read I tend to avoid books that have a darker abusive theme to them. I knew going into it would be tough but after getting a chance to know Pim I knew I had to see how it would play out her moment of finally tasting freedom. Pim’s story is an emotional roller coaster but captures your soul stealing a spot in my heart. I just really connected with Pim on a deeper level and I actually can’t stop talking about her story. Pennies is an emotional read it had parts that made me choke up with tears but I pushed on and I’m glad I did. I found the authors writing style while even telling this dark haunting story beautiful it’s just so easy to get lost in the words. I can say without a doubt Pim’s story is one that will be sticking with me for a while. I honestly enjoyed the Pennies way more than I ever expected to. I’m anxiously waiting for the next installment because I want to know what happens with Pim and Elder.

I’m the girl from the school of hard knocks.
Nothing has ever come easy for me. So forgive me if I’m a bit reluctant about Kincaid Griffin – born-with-a-silver-spoon in his mouth, conceited college hoops player. A guy who could get any girl he wants, and yet, is suddenly everywhere I am trying to woo me. The more I protest, the more persistent he becomes.
I’m a lucky bastard.
Let’s face it. As a college athlete, I don’t chase girls – they come to me. I’m as arrogant and cocky as they come, getting nearly everything I want, whenever I want. But there is nothing sweeter than a girl who plays hard to get. And Ainsley Locker is so full of confidence that she knocks me off my feet from the moment I meet her. She’s a challenge. And I like challenges. So I go full-court press to win her over.
But when a stupid mistake turns viral, slam dunking all over my life in a media frenzy, my spot on the team may be in jeopardy, along with my shot at winning the girl.

TEASER SWEETNESS

Author Bio:
Sierra Hill wrote her first full-length romance after a corporate acquisition led her to a stint of unemployment. Since self-publishing her first book in 2014, she’s found her creative passion, writing about the fictional characters that live in her brain, who constantly shout for their own love stories to be told.
Sierra frequently indulges in what some might consider to be an unhealthy dose of reading, dark chocolate goodies, and way too much coffee. She hates cold weather, and frequently finds herself traveling around the country to see her favorite live musicians in concert.
Sierra resides in the Pacific Northwest with her husband of twenty years and her long-haired, German Shepherd. She is currently working on her next book.

Author Bio:
Alison Mello is a wife and stay at home mom to a wonderful little boy. She lives with her amazing family in Massachusetts. She loves playing soccer, basketball and football with her son.
After having her son, Alison started reading again and fell in love with Contemporary Romance. Reading made her happy and gave her something to do when she had downtime. As she started to read more, she started to noticed things she really enjoyed in a book and things she didn’t. She began to have ideas for writing one of her own. One day she literally woke up and started writing. She realized that if there was ever a time for her to write, it was now. She had a part time job to give her something to do. The hours at work were slow and she was bored with what she was doing, so while her son was off enjoying his friends over summer vacation she got started.
Alison finished the first book in two weeks and decided that she really enjoyed writing, so she kept going. She already had ideas in mind for books two and three, so she kept writing. That is how the Learning to Love Series was born. Somewhere along the line, one of my Beta readers convinced me that Michael, a character from Finding Love, needed his own story. That is when Alison added the fourth and final book. Alison hopes you enjoy her books as much as she enjoyed writing them.
She’s so glad she started this writing journey and hopes you will stay with her for the ride. Chasing Dreams is scheduled to release in April and the first two books of the Love Conquers Life series will be out this summer!

WE WERE ALONE.
My bedroom had a door.
For the first time in over a year.

Synopsis
“At 18 I had pennies, but money didn’t make me bold. At 19 I had dollars, but it didn’t dull the pain of being sold. At 20 I had hundreds, but then I met him and was found. At 21 I had thousands, but all I wanted was to be bound.”

“At 23 I had dollars, but life changed and made me rich. At 25 I had hundreds, but it wasn’t enough to stop my killing itch. At 27 I had thousands, but my reputation didn’t set me free. At 29 I had millions, but I met her and could finally see.”

Tasmin was killed on her 18th birthday. She had everything planned out. A psychology degree, a mother who pushed her to greatness, and a future anyone would die for. But then her murderer saved her life, only to sell her into a totally different existence.

Elder went from penniless to stinking rich with one twist of fate. His lifetime of crime and shadows of thievery are behind him but no matter the power he now wields, it’s not enough. He has an agenda to fulfill and he won’t stop until it’s complete.

But then they meet.

A beaten slave and a richly dressed thief. Money is what guided their separate fates. Money is what brought them together. And money is ultimately what destroys them.

She was poor.
He was rich.

Together…they were bankrupt.

This Week's Prompt:

What is your take on DNF books. Do you review them? Choose not to review them?

Answer:

This one is a tough one because I hate to DNF a book to start with. I try really hard to give each book a chance trying to read at least 30% of the novel in question. I don't have a lot of DNF novels in general because I always try to find something I like about the book. Most of the time I just put them down and move because I would hate to dissuade someone who might actually enjoy the book, of course, there is the exception to the rules. Sometimes I do share a snippet of my thoughts if I feel like it's worth reading.

This week was a little tough what is your most interesting bookish memory or experience?.

Book Review: True North

Title - True North
Author - Nikki Jefford
Series - Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #6
Genre - Urban Fantasy Young Adult

Aurora has spent the past year fighting for survival, freedom, and justice. Now she’s about to face the biggest battle of her life. Field agents are turning up dead and everyone is working to stop Jared before he starts a full-blown war between vampires and hunters.

Fane’s resolve and support has never been stronger. Aurora’s feelings for him are as constant as the North Star, but their future is teetering on thin ice.

Aurora will make the ultimate sacrifice to protect her family and friends. In order to persevere, she must accept who she is and embrace the cold.

Review
I received True North in return for an honest review from the author.

Aurora and her friends have been after Jared after everything he’s pulled even before she joined the agency. He’s on the run and until she can get justice she can’t leave Alaska to be with Fane just yet. As it get’s closer to Christmas it’s clear that the chance to find him before the new year may not happen anytime soon. All but Noel live on base but she’s willing to take the risk since Aurora has always been Jared’s obsession.

When a ladies night turns horribly wrong Aurora finds herself delivered to Jared by someone she thought she could trust. However, this gives her the chance to take care of Jared once and for all she just has to bide her time because he is determined to add her to his odd little family. Jared is also running with her old fellow agent Valerie who he also had a hand in creating and has gone off the deep end. Will Aurora ever get the chance she needs to take care of Jared?

I love Aurora she’s my favorite vampire hunter even if she just happens to be one of them herself. It’s not like she asked to be a vampire but at least she’s doing something good with it. She’s not had the easiest time with the agency but she’s made some amazing friends who have supported Aurora. For a long time I was torn between Fane and Dante but it all works out in the end at last.

I hate to admit I dragged on this one but it isn’t the books fault. I didn’t want it to end because I wasn’t ready to say goodbye just yet to Aurora and her friends. I was savoring every moment of the final showdown forcing myself to put it down after a chapter or two so I wouldn’t devour it all at once. That control ended last night when I had to finish the last half of the book and know how it would all play out. A truly unique concept that takes vampire hunters to a whole new level even if they have some corruption to deal with. I love the characters they are easy to connect with you can’t help falling in love with Aurora and her friends. True North is a captivating installment in the Aurora Sky series that doesn’t disappoint. I’ve enjoyed the authors writing style because she’s created a beautifully written story that captures the heart as well as the imagination. While I know this is the end for dear Aurora I secretly hope we will see more of her in the future. I highly recommend if your a fan of vampire hunter’s that you check out her series.

#DustOffYourBookshelf Thursday

#DustOffYourBookshelf Thursday
Dust off your Bookshelf was originally created to share books that have been on my “to read pile” for a long time. Some so long I’ve forgotten that they are there, and have purchased duplicate copies. Each week I will share on my blog as well as Instagram a new title. Some may be newer and some so old I have forgotten they are there. I do have issues with buying books and never reading them. I’m hoping that by share them I will be motivated to read them. Plus it’s always fun to find new books hiding within the bookshelves. Feel free to join in and share on Instagram or your blog. Just let me know so I can check out your choice this week too. Just use #DustOffYourBookshelf

This weekly makes me feel like a hoarder when it comes to books because deep down I really am. I have so many books that I keep adding to my shelves but they never end up getting read. I keep saying one day they will all be read.

I've had this one on my TBR list for far too long.
