In a world where monsters called Yoma prey on humans and live among them in disguise, humanity's only hope is a new breed of warrior known as Claymores. Half human, half monster, these silver-eyed slayers possess supernatural strength but are condemned to fight their savage impulses or lose their humanity completely.

Review
Claymore is a manga about Yoma who pretend to be human in order to kill and eat the humans. The Claymore are the hybrid of the two stronger faster but still human with the ability to slay the Yoma which they do for a price. They travel from village to village slaying Yoma with nothing but the sword on their back using the Yoma abilities but slowly turning into a monster that they hunt. When the time comes a Claymore will send a black card to another claymore to be slain before the Yoma takes over and so they die as a human.

In the 27th and final vol it’s all come down to Clare to save the day. She’s always been the weakest warrior but that’s always been assumed because she had Theresa not a yoma inside of her. All she had to do was remember and it set’s Theresa free to fight Priscilla after all she’s the one of the strongest warriors. While the claymore’s look on Theresa makes quick work of Cassandra and Priscilla saving the day and giving Clare what she needed most.

I like Clare she’s a sword carrying slayer who isn’t afraid to die charging in risking her life. She's grown a lot from the Clare in the beginning of the series.  While she may not be the strongest she's determined and unwilling to give up. She's one of those underdog characters you can't help liking and she’s had to deal with a lot throughout the series. We’ve gotten to know most of Clare’s fellow warriors throughout the series. We have also gotten to know Raki as he grew from child to man throughout the series.

I’ve recently gotten into Manga the last few months and having a general idea from binge watching the anime on Netflix it was a great choice. I love the concept for the Claymore a hybrids created using parts from the monsters that are put in the warriors giving them supernatural abilities. Claymore is an action packed horror series with supernatural elements that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Claymore’s are created to fight the monsters that threaten the humans, but we learned that maybe the monsters are created as well. The characters are great I found myself connecting with several of them throughout the series. The art is great it gives me just enough to create the story in my head as I read each detailed page. This is only my 2nd manga so I don’t have a lot to base on but I’m super addicted to them. They are perfect for when I have some downtime or when I feel like reading back to back. I highly recommend that if you liked the anime or just like horror kick ass heroines that you check it out. I very much loved it.I'm sad it's over but at least I'll be able to read it again.

In the 26th Vol the battles continue as the Claymores attempt to take out Priscilla even with the help of the awakened beings they don’t’ seem to be the match. As the battle continues they are pushed to the limits wearing Clare down in the battle as a former 47 she is one of the weakest and just can’t keep up with the others. Things may start going in their favor when they destroy Priscilla t last but it’s short lived because of her regeneration she’s back only this time she’s eaten the Abyssal and is adding the awakened to her body. We do catch a glimpse of what Isley told Raki so maybe he will show up in the last book.

I like Clare she’s a sword carrying slayer who isn’t afraid to die charging in risking her life. She's grown a lot in the last several volumes leading up to the battle in the north. After faking her death along with her fellow claymore's she's returned after seven years to battle the Organization. While she may not be the strongest she's determined and unwilling to give up. She's one of those underdog characters you can't help liking. We've seen a little of Raki having grown up into a man who fights yoma he’s been captured by the organization. Clare and Priscilla have been trapped in a ball of flesh locking them both away from the others.

I’ve seen all of the episodes on Netflix a few years ago actually binge watched them over a long weekend. While it’s been a while I don’t think the anime has gone this far in the series. I don’t remember the girls taking on the organization which is where the story has turned. It’s interesting learning that the organization which has been creating claymores for a long time may not be the good guys after all. I love the concept for the Claymore the hybrids created using parts from the monsters that they have been created to fight against the Yoma that they created. In the 24th volume we have learned about the truth of the yoma and of the betrayal of the organization but they haven’t really had a chance to think about it. Heading off into battle dressed as the warriors they are to fight Cassandra.  However to the awakened beings watching to see how things are going to turn out it’s clear that they need all the help that they can get against her. While the Awakened beings jump in to stop the abyssal she proves that she may just be too powerful for even all of them. Priscilla has her own hands full fighting with an equally matched being. How will it turn out?

Book Review: Follow Me Home

Title - Follow Me Home
Author - Cathy Woodman
Series - Talyton St. George #8 can be read as a standalone
Genre - Contemporary Fiction, Romance
Publisher - Pegasus Books
Published July 15th 2015
Format - Paperback

A charming and poignant romp through the love affairs—both hound and human—of a country-village midwife, from the international bestselling author of City Girl, Country Vet, set in Talyton St George, Britain's most romantic town.

Life has been tough lately for Zara, a recently divorced country midwife. Now living with her grandmother, it is hardly the ideal situation in which to get her life back on track. And then one day, love walks in, in the form of an abandoned puppy. From the start, Zara feels in over her head: she knows nothing about dogs, and has been afraid of them for most of her life. Yet she quickly comes to adore her new friend, despite the fact that the puppy causes havoc wherever they go. She is grateful when a local shepherd, Lewis, offers to help train her. But Lewis has an ulterior motive for helping. And though Zara may be able to trust him with her naughty dog, can she trust him with her bruised heart?

Review
I received Follow Me Home in return for an honest review from the publisher. While Follow Me Home is the 8th in a series it is a standalone so no need to read the prior books. Zara is a midwife in a country town who has just gone through a divorce, but she and her now ex-husband are just friends. She’s living with her Grandmother above the shop that the family has owned for a long time. Zara’s twin sister has just given birth to a little girl as the book starts out and Zara has captured the attention of the hired shepherd. Zara can’t deny the attract she has towards Lewis but he’s a lot younger than her so she can’t imagine he sees her as anything but older.

One night while driving home Zara catches the reflection of eyes on the side of the road stopping she finds a pup attached to a rope that’s almost frozen. While she’s afraid of dogs her encounter with Lewis’s dogs has made her rescue the poor pup taking her to the vet. When the time comes to send Frosty to the sanctuary Zara can’t do it she adopts her going from dog hater to dog lover. As if Zara doesn’t have enough with her hands full of Frosty she finds out that Lewis does she her as a beautiful woman he’s interested in. What starts out as just a casual things turns into a whirlwind romance with up’s and downs but in the end it may just work out. Zara also has her ailing grandmother to take care and an ex-husband who just doesn’t want to get out of her life.

I like Zara she’s super sweet and I love that she rescued Frosty working so very hard to figure out how to make things work for both of them. After all Frosty is deaf which I can imagine is a struggle at least she has the help to figure out how to speak dog. I wasn’t sure about Lewis at first since he’s only in town for a limited time but it really works as the story progresses he’s very supportive and wants to make things work with Zara. I disliked her ex-husband right from the start than when he showed up at her place of work with his girlfriend was just icing on the cake and gave her the push to give him the boot. We also have a wide selection of fun characters in Zara’s life to keep her busy from little Poppy to her grandmother.

I’ve had this one sitting on my shelf for a while just haven’t gotten the chance to read it yet. Now that I have I wish I hadn’t waited because it’s really cute. I love a contemporary romance and Zara’s story while a little sad does have a happy ending with a lot of humor and happy moments mixed throughout the story. Zara’s past touched my heart it made me sad that she had issues having children, but she learned to deal with it and finding Frosty seemed to be just what she needed. I haven’t been to Britain yet but Talyton St George is exactly how I would have pictured it. I loved having a chance to get to know that town as well as Zara because she’s such a great character. It’s no surprise that Follow Me Home is a Happy ever after you knew it was coming and Zara ended up with the perfect guy. The characters are easy to connect with after all Zara stole a little piece of my heart. I enjoyed turning every page of Follow Me Home it’s a beautifully written story that captured my heart. I plan to read the rest of the series to enjoy more of Talyton St. George. Highly recommend for fans of contemporary romance.
